Beautiful house with lots of privacy and charm. Well appointed with charming stream
Charming cottage in private location. Awesome place to stay
Perfect little cabin for an off the grid weekend. Adorable on the inside and out. Close to a beautiful creek and walking trails. Thoroughly enjoyed our couples weekend. Will absolutely be back! Diane is a wonderful hostess.
Relaxing, off the grid
This Garden Cottage was just adorable with lots of character. It is off the beaten path a little, but just how we like it. Diane and Chuck were excellent hosts and we enjoyed our conversation with them. The WiFi is spotty with Verizon, but we knew that ahead of time and downloaded some movies for our 7 year old daughter when we needed it. She loves the outdoors and would love the creek and Laurel Fork in the summer. We had a relaxing time, doing only what we chose to and had everything we needed for a 3 night, 4 day retreat after the Christmas holiday. Thanks again!
We're happy you enjoyed your stay at the Garden House! Your daughter seemed to enjoy the creek and trails, and I'm sure you saw plenty of wild turkeys and deer on your walks. Our rural area is full of many charms, and we hope you return in another season!
Beautiful Little Get-a-way
We absolutely love this little cabin. The location was quiet and beautiful. My family and I loved the greenhouse and exploring the surrounding paths and location. The only major problem was that the beds were so uncomfortable. No one in the house had a good nights sleep due to, what seemed to be, very old beds. We stayed two nights. Next concern was that my mother, who is disabled could barley get up the stairs. The pictures online showed stairs but I had no idea they were only about 2 1/2 feet wide with no railing and 12 stairs high. It was hard for her. Finally, the shower mat had black mold on the bottom side of it which is very bad and just nasty. Everything else was amazing and all the kitchen and household extras came in very handy. We may visit again in the spring (just myself, my husband, and daughter) and not in late November. Overall I give this place a 7.5 out of 10.
Maggie, I'm sorry you experienced some problems during your visit and I will certainly address these issues. We will replace the bat mat immediately—I am sorry this escaped our housekeeper's attention! And I will be more clear in the house description that the stairs to the attic bedroom are narrow. The upstairs twin beds are nearly new, and they've been used lightly, and I'm sorry they were uncomfortable for you. We have plans to replace the Queen bed, which is four years old, after January 1. We've had only positive comments so far about all our beds—I'll be sure to replace the Queen bed right away based on your feedback.
Please return this spring when we have vegetables in the garden and birdsong outside your window! We'd love to have you visit again.
This cozy cottage is a wonderful place to get away from it all. We had a wonderful time hiking the trails on the property and were rewarded with some of the most amazing mountain top views I've ever seen on foot. Night time surrounds the cottage with complete darkness and the sky full of brightly shining stars demands your attention. It was so night to have so much privacy, but also be close to town. (Meadows of Dan is just up the road and Floyd is less than a half hour away.) We will definitely be coming back to this great getaway.
Ashley, we are happy you enjoyed the Garden House and the farm. We like nothing more than to see guests enjoy hiking on our many trails, taking in the view and reveling in the quiet. Next time we'll show you a "secret" hiking trail back to Rock House Creek...where I saw a beautiful red fox last week! Come back soon, Diane
Virginia in the Fall
We had a relaxing and fabulous weekend at Diane’s! We’ll be back!
It was wonderful to have you on the farm with the last of the early fall vegetables, all the golden fall color and the start of leaf season. Come back soon!
