About this property
The York House at Catawba Farm - 30 minutes from the Ark Encounter
The Catawba farm is located at the actual site of the former town of Catawba. The town of Catawba in the late 1800’s had a blacksmith shop, general store, school, church, train station and pop. ~110. You will feel the history as you explore the 99 acre farm taking in the beautiful scenery or relaxing at the beautifully renovated farmhouse. The farm has 1.5 miles of Licking River waterfront w/nice river access and stocked 1acre fishing pond.
The farmhouse boasts custom Kentucky field stone work and barnwood detail throughout. Much of the materials used on the renovation came off or out of buildings and barns around the farm. The farmhouse has two primary bedrooms w/queen beds. Both primary bedrooms have their own private walkout. The third bedroom has two sets bunk beds w/ full size beds on bottom and twin on top. Beautifully updated kitchen. Oversized deck with gazebo and fire pit outback offer an exceptional experience. Spacious front porch with seating. Very cool to watch the trains pass by.
Just outside your door you have a tranquil swimming pond with a fountain and dock. Take a hike on our 2.5 mile Catawba Farm loop nature trail where you can explore the farm including a stocked pond, the Licking River access points and the beautiful wildlife and scenic views. At the Patriot Barn(red, white and blue roof) you can visit Jackie our rescue donkey, Big T the bull, The 3 Little Pigs and our two Tennessee Fainting Goats. Jackie loves apples and other fruits and vegetables, Big T loves to be fed hay and the pigs...they will eat anything.
Keep in mind this is an operating farm and you may see farmers and workers come and go time to time.
If the river conditions allow for it we offer canoe trips or river raft rides without leaving the valley. Farmer Rob the neighbor who owns Gravett Farms can come pick you up. He will guide you to and help you in at a river access point on his property and your trip will finish up at our Licking River access. Approximately 2.5 mile trip

We LOVED our stay! Our daughter swam in the pond and she loved the bunk beds. The dogs enjoyed exploring and swimming too! The house was perfect. It was clean and we enjoyed out time!
We enjoyed our time at "The York House at Catawba Farm". Very comfortable and the home provided everything we needed for our group. The host was very attentive and great to work with. I recommend staying here, it was a very nice experience. We plan on coming back!
We enjoyed staying here for the weekend with our daughter son in law. Great place to unwind for the weekend and not far from The Ark encounter. They did a fantastic job with the temodel. The home is lovely.
We had an awesome stay during our visit to Kentucky. Close to the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter. Owner took us on a tour of the place, beautiful spot. We loved the animals in the barn and being able to walk down to the river. The pond by the house was great fun for swimming.
Enjoying staying in this home while visiting family in Falmouth. Quiet, peaceful retreat. My husband is a retired Railroad engineer so he enjoyed talking about the trains that went by.
We enjoyed our stay during our visit to the Ark and Creation Museum. The farmhouse was perfect and had everything we needed. It is full of charm on the inside and out. The host have done a great job!
We had the best time at this cute place, it was perfect for us on our ark trip! we enjoyed our time relaxing by the pond while kids swam, we cooked at the house and hung out on the deck and by the fire pit. Would definitely stay again. 10/10
Stayed for a 3 day weekend with my wife, my grown daughter, and Daphne our Basset Hound. Lot's of walking space for dogs, and she loved meeting the farm animals. My daughter loved feeding them also. The house is clean, well furnished,
We had a wonderful time at this sweet farmhouse! All the amenities we needed and centrally located.
We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The owners have done a wonderful job on the property. The lids enjoyed swimming in the pond and fishing in the other pond. We also had several visits to Jack the Donkey. Kids also love the train coming by. We highly recommend this property!
Well maintained property. Nicely decorated, well equip. Beautiful peaceful setting. Can easily accommodate a family with pets and or children. Just know that Catawba road will require caution driving.
A gorgeous house in a peaceful, serene setting. I have nothing but positive things to say about our vacation experience and enjoyed our stay very much. If you are looking for a house with charm and history in a quiet, beautiful country setting then this is your place. The house had plenty of space for our family of four. The hosts had every thing we needed to make our stay comfortable. We hope to come back soon.
We had the best time. From sitting under the stars by the fire pit to listening to the tranquil sounds of the trains. My grandson loved the animals at the barn. We walked the trail around the farm. The house was so inviting. We had everything needed for a quiet vacation. Thanks for your hospitality and lovely home.
Kaffie from Mississippi.
Loved feeding and enjoying the animals. House was in the “country” so a little off the beaten path. Beautiful countryside, and home was as advertised. A little rustic, and would have liked a bit more in the bathroom - clothes hooks and more towel hanging space.
Jackie, Big T and Ramuel were our favorites! Totally delightful!
Amazing! The location is perfect for those who want something a little bit more country but not so far away that you can't run 20 minutes up the road to run to the store ( which where we are from is close!). Plenty of privacy and backyard for the kids to play in. Ours particularly loved the swing! There is an active train track that runs along the property but the owners have earplugs stashed everywhere if the noise bothers you while sleeping. Well stocked kitchen, outdoor grill and seating, and comfortable beds. Our family enjoyed staying here immensely and would definitely stay here again!
Well designed and laid out , everything you may need is there for great time
Sister in-law love the animals in the barn ie Donkey, ram, goats and bull
1.5 trail was well laid out and easy to follow as well as fun
Host was very responsive and it also has Great internet
Wife was impressed with the cleanliness and deco was cute.
Enjoyed the fire pit and swing
Setting on back porch was very peaceful
When we return to this area this first choice.
Just make sure any food items you want to buy before going to house. It’s a ways out and don’t want to return to town unless necessary. We loved it.
This was a great place. Not a long drive to Ark Encounter or Creation Museum. The house was clean and everything was as described. We used the deck/outdoor space a lot. Scott was a great host, allowing access to their property. Our family enjoyed both ponds with swimming, fishing, and kayaks/row boat, as well as hiking to the river. We also enjoyed visiting the animals in the barn. The only negative was the train that came through every night. Woke us every time, but I’m a light sleeper. Our kids did like looking for their crushed pennies though.
The property was perfect for us. It has a rural location. Enjoyed driving through the countryside of rolling hills . We took a different route each day to the Ark. The drive to the Ark seemed relatively short. There are well marked walking paths on the property. My sister has apps that identify sounds of birds and identify foliage that made our walks even more enjoyable. My father uses a rollator (walker). There’s a ramp on front porch. Shower chair was provided and he was able to independently take care of himself. The owner promptly answered my questions. Also, the property is very clean.
This home was perfect for the 6 of us. Our family had a blast cruising around the farm and visiting the animals. Our kiddos did a lot of exploring. Scott was so helpful with answering all of our questions and providing maps of the property. The home had everything we needed and more. Plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, laundry detergent, dish detergent, etc - things many rentals don’t provide. There kitchen was fully stocked, allowing us to cook meals as if we were at home. The house is cozy and homey. We loved the addition of the wood stove and it kept us very warm! The house has been updated nicely and the TVs in each room were a plus. We visited both the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. Make sure you snag a Dramamine for the Ark Encounter drive - it’s a curvy doozy. Overall great location and great experience. We loved the small town farm experience and would definitely stay again.
The Catawba Farmhouse was a lovely relaxing stay! The property is enjoyable and even though the weather wasn't great while we were there, we did get some sunshine to enjoy walking to the pond and the river and had a blast at the firepit roasting hotdogs and marshmallows! The home was very clean and expertly decorated. Beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of towels. There were a few items that we felt we needed in the kitchen - a colander & a toaster - but not a huge deal. It was cold and so we also made use of the woodstove and there was plenty of wood provided. Our 2 Goldendoodles had PLENTY of room to run and play and enjoyed themselves immensely! Overall, it was a very peaceful stay although the first time a train went by in the middle of the night, it caught us off guard ;). Thank you for sharing your sweet farmhouse with us! You can definitely tell you put your heart and soul into it!
