The cabin was perfect for our needs. Everything was clean, all the cooking supplies we needed, lots of small touches like motion lights in the kitchen and outhouse and slippers.
The fireplace made the place very cozy and my kids loved having the upstairs to themselves and the treat of a TV and DVD player!
The location could not be beat for the event we were attending just a mile down the road!
This was just the place I was looking for! Beautiful scenic drive up the mountain and a gorgeous property! The outhouse is cozy and clean. Caught the first snow of the season on our last morning!
This was the most beautiful VRBO! The views were spectacular. The small touches were wonderful. It was quiet and peaceful, everything we were looking for. We already talked about wanting to come back.
Highly recommend! The views from the front porch are stunning and the cabin is spotless. The hosts are great and very responsive. We can’t wait to return.
Very responsive down to earth owners. The property was very clean and accurate to the description. If you want someplace with a hot shower don't rent here although there's options in town. Fantastic value for the money clean nice house plenty of space awesome porch.
Wonderful property in nice very quiet and private location. Very well equipped, felt almost as if it was our own summerhouse.Owner lives nearby and is very responsive if you have a need or concern. View from the house is absolutely stunning. We were there on some cloudier and rainier days. Nonetheless, the fascinating view kept changing and surprising us!
We were so grateful for the host’s thorough directions into an area of Homer that is off the beaten path. This property is truly a gem. The hosts have done an amazing job with this rental. It is private, clean, quiet & truly offers Alaskan charm! We will stay here again!
Very clean cabin with the two queen beds being comfortable. It's a ways from town but accessible. The road there is pretty bumpy, normal Alaskan life. Gorgeous views. The kids enjoyed the outhouse experience after all.
A Perfect Family Retreat – Can’t Wait to Come Back!
The Adventure Chalet is pure magic. This was our second time staying here, and we’re already planning our third. Rachel and Jason have created a true refuge that feels like it was designed with families—and especially kids—in mind. From the thoughtful decor to the well-stocked amenities, every detail is warm, welcoming, and fun. And that view—absolutely breathtaking. It’s just as gorgeous as the photos, if not more.Even the outhouse is charming (I actually wish I’d taken a photo of the interior—it’s that cute!).We’re so grateful to Rachel and Jason for sharing this special place. It’s beautiful inside and out, and we feel incredibly lucky to return to it again and again.Highly recommend to anyone looking for a family-friendly, soul-filling Homer getaway.
Picked a cold and windy hockey tournament weekend. But the view was fantastic! Stars were out just like on top of a Hawaiian volcano, only better. And colder. Great communication with host, Homer is a fun town with great food. Next time we’re back, staying at Volcano Vista again.
If you are looking for a quite place to stay, this is you one. The kitchen was well stocked and they provided plenty of water. The views were amazing but you can't see the spit from the house. During the 30 min drive from the spit is some of the most beautiful views we had so far. Oh and one last thing, if your wife is not tracking what a dry cabin means, please inform them.
We loved our time at this VRBO. Whenever I had a question, Rachel was extremely prompt in replying. The one thing I can't stress enough is how beautiful the view is from the front window (which faces the back). The fireweed is blooming and the contrast with the trees looking all the way down and out - simply breathtaking. We saw the volcano our first night, when it was clear. Amazing. When the clouds rolled in, it was still lovely. We loved Homer and enjoyed the hike across the bay at the state park. We were so glad we stayed at this place (impeccably clean, great kitchen amenities - and did I mention the view??) instead of in town or on the Spit. It gave a completely different perspective and being higher up was just beautiful. Washing dishes was a little challenging, but the dry cabin experience was just fine. Great spot!
If you want to "fly like an eagle", this rustic-chic cabin is the place for you. From the comfort of the back porch, we were able to see magpies, a young eagle and even a young bull moose. Watching him graze for almost an hour made time stand still and made us feel closer to nature.
We were slightly apprehensive about staying in a dry cabin. As the outhouse was just steps away, it was no problem even for city slickers like us. Having to "rough it" a little only added to the charm of our visit.
The newly built cabin is a twenty minute drive up and inland from Homer proper. It is very clear with many beautiful decorative touches. The kitchen is well stocked with the essentials like hot cocoa and popcorn and there is an outstanding selection of books about the area to feed the mind. The hosts seemed to have thought of everything a guest might need including eye masks although they weren't really needed.
This property is the perfect Alaskan getaway!
Just driving there I knew that this place was going to be a good stay, the hills were covered with wild flowers trees and we even saw a bull moose from the property. Very charming place to stay with your love one or friends. Just minutes from the homer spit. We enjoyed grilling our catch from our fishing charter trip and had our dinner outside next to the fire pit outside with a beautiful view. Can’t wait to come back next time. Thanks so much.

About the host
Hosted by Rachel
We have enjoyed Homer for over ten years and have carved out a little slice above town. Volcano Vista was built to house family when they visit and turned into a labor of love.
Why they chose this property
Volcano Vista is a unique stay because it is out of town with quiet and surroundings and outdoor adventure opportunities. Or just cozy up with a book next to the woodstove. Also, this could be described as the ultimate glamping getaway with an outhouse, but also equipped with a full kitchen, cozy beds, and wifi.
