The owners of this fabulous property have created a dreamy lakefront cabin experience with a remote and private feel on the shores of Devil Track Lake in Grand Marais, MN. While it's considered close to downtown Grand Marais you'll feel as if you're in the middle of the wilderness! The views, location, wildlife, serenity, peacefulness are tough to beat...that's a fact! Solar, electric, propane are in place for utilities/power. Broadband fiber optic high speed internet is in place, too! There is one main floor bathroom w/ a shower/toilet/sink and a lovely/updated kitchen...both with running water. The wood stove will be your friend during cold winter days/nights and there's also a propane wall heater in place on the main level! There's a lot to love about the lakeshore location. The cabin sits along a quiet, very private stretch of shoreline and Devil Track Lake is a nice fishing and recreation lake, yet still very much a lake for paddlers and wilderness lovers, too. Get ready for peaceful, starry-skied nights, hikes, skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, swimming, paddling and relaxing!!

PLEASE NOTE: ADVENTURE AWAITS IF YOU ARE OKAY WITH A ROUGHER ROAD/DRIVE INTO THIS GORGEOUS CABIN AND SETTING. AN AWD OR A 4WD VEHICLE IS A MUST. AS WINTER GUESTS, YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO BUILD A FIRE IN THE WOOD STOVE, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY UPON CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT (I.E. TURNING OFF TWO BREAKERS AT THE POWER PANEL), AND POSSIBLY PITCH IN WITH A SHOVEL IF A HUGE AMOUNT OF SNOW FALLS DURING YOUR STAY. IT'S A REMOTE SETTING EVEN THOUGH THE ROAD AND DRIVEWAY GET PLOWED. IT CAN BE VERY DIFFICULT TO GET A TRAILER DOWN THE ROAD AND PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AREA IN THE WINTER, TOO. PARKING TRAILERS AT THE END OF THE PAVEMENT AND BEFORE THE ROUGHER ROAD SEEMS TO WORK BEST IN THE WINTER MONTHS. A beautiful, quiet, comfortable spot on the lake. We enjoyed time canoeing on the lake, having camp fires, and relaxing, as well as hiking at several of the state parks along the Superior shore. A great week! We even caught a few fish from the dock.

Sweet cabin in a beautiful setting

We loved hanging out on the dock and made great use of the canoe. The cabin is so pretty, and the lake is wonderful. We had everything we needed in the kitchen, and while it’s great to unplug, we also enjoyed watching movies as a family. Great vacation!

Dreamy Secluded Retreat

This property was an amazing home base for our anniversary trip. I so enjoyed exploring the cabin and grounds and discovering all the thoughtful touches it had to offer. It was clean, well supplied, and had many activities and resources to help make our stay great. My favorite souvenir is a print of the painting I fell in love with in the dining room. Be sure to check out the local galleries. We're already dreaming of our next stay at the red fox cabin.

Beautiful cabin in a wonderful location

Devil's Track Lake was lovely, we enjoyed kayaking and watching the water. The cabin was well-appointed and very comfortable. There was plenty to do outside, but we also had fun playing foosball and watching some movies together. Being off-grid was nice, especially because we never needed to run the generator. We hope to be back again!

Summer stay

We had a lovely stay at this off-the grid cabin (no cell phone reception, but had internet available). Kids and adults enjoyed (among the many) the peacefulness of the cabin location on Devils Track Lake, the fishing off the dock (one bass was caught and released), and the firepit. We would definitely come back to this location (with some extra, thicker clothing for mosquito season).

Lovely

This is a remote cabin, surrounded by timber and lake. It is a great place to relax and recharge. The cabin is comfortable and has modern conveniences (including internet). Grand Marais is a 20-25 minute drive. The lake is peaceful and gorgeous (we did not have much luck fishing, but maybe next time). We enjoyed hiking, bird watching, and picking wild flowers. I already miss our daily coffee on the balcony watching the sunrise. Owners/managers were easy to work with, and very accommodating after we had a family emergency and had to reschedule. I recommend a visit to this little piece of tranquility.

Red Fox Cabin — rustic northern Minnesota

Great. Rustic, rural & well-described/explained. There’s some adventure in this place — particularly at wintertime with snowy, gravel-road drive, wood-burning stove etc. But well-explained & pretty simple. Really love how place was appointed — amazing game room & reading area. With WiFi, accessing Roku TV was slick. Great place & value. We’ll consider for next trip to Grand Marais or Lutsen!

A little piece of heaven

Lovely cabin with all the amenities! Usually I need our camping supplies as backup for such remote locations and this property had absolutely everything and more from a well-stocked kitchen as far as dishes and cookware to super comfortable beds to games to beautiful fire pit. The property manager was easy to connect with and responded promptly. The location is remote and we do recommend an AWD vehicle as the road in was pretty rough, and once there, it was perfection with stunning views and complete peace and quiet. The solar panels worked like a charm. Lots a fish caught from the canoe! Only drawback was the bugs and even that, the property owners provided bug net hats. We cannot recommend this property enough for getting your family away from it all to relax and reconnect!

The Red Fox Cabin was almost as good as the VRBO site suggested.

We loved the Red Fox Cabin itself. It was very off the grid in it's amenities yet very comfortable. The lot was full of trees and we saw quail and deer in the yard often. The only disappointment with the site was that it did not have a dock as the listing stated; "It has its own dock and guests are invited to use the canoe and kayak provided." This made it impossible to launch our kayaks in the lake. It was also difficult to fish off the marshy and very rocky shoreline instead of a dock as we expected the property to have. We were told that the dock was damaged due to the harsh winter etc. We wish we were told this before we booked the cabin this spring as we would have chosen a different property.

Three Fox Sightings at Red Fox Cabin

Aptly named property! A fox greeted us on the road on our way in as if on cue; one trotted in to the driveway a while later; then another one on the road the next evening! This cabin was very nice and spacious for our family of 4 (2 adults, 1 young adult, and 1 teen) and allowed for us to spread out for alone time when needed. The wifi worked well and there were no complaints about it from the younger members of the family so it must have been fine. We did not attempt to stream any movies or shows. There was a very large selection of DVDs, CDs, books and games. It was a short, easy walk to the lake/dock and the canoe was easy to launch. The kitchen was decently equipped and had all the basics except a microwave--which I did not view as a negative but some might. The bathroom fulfills its function but is very small and no tub--again, not a negative for us. The gravel part of the road is slow going if you are in a regular car but it can be done. There are some rocky sections and "pot holes" that make it challenging. The paperwork indicated the 2.3 mile portion of gravel would take about 8 minutes; it took us about 15-20 minutes because we took it REALLY slow; perhaps we were overly cautious. Unfortunately, we did not take as much advantage of the outdoor space as we wanted because the mosquitoes were really bad but the fire pit looked very inviting. We would definitely consider staying again in late summer or fall.

My husband and I loved staying at this cabin for our anniversary. The outdoor area is spacious, well kept, and private. We loved building campfires every day and getting to sit by the water. It was incredibly peaceful. Having a full kitchen was great too. The cabin felt very equipped with both necessities and entertainment. Our biggest regret is not booking a longer stay

Cute and cozy!

This was a very nice place for a little getaway. The road in was a little rougher than anticipated, even without any snow. Definitely recommend a 4wd or awd vehicle no matter the time of year. But otherwise the cabin was very clean and had a rustic feel to it. The view from the dock was gorgeous. Definitely plan to come back at some point!

Quiet and lovely

What a pretty spot! Down a long unpaved road to privacy and comfort. Windows on every side for pretty views and cross breezes. Plenty of wood for the stove, and a well-equipped kitchen. Liked the concrete floors and open floor plan on the first floor, comfortable bedrooms and second hang out area on the second floor. We cooked in the mornings and then headed out for sightseeing and hiking, then Grand Marais for early dinner before heading back for a relaxing evening under the stars. Really enjoyed our stay, thank you!

Peaceful Getaway

We had a wonderful Time in this lovely, quiet, off the beaten trail Cabin. We saw the Northern Lights, wildlife while kayaking and caught a few fish. We would definitely stay here again!

Great Location and Privacy

Cabin was clean and very quiet which was what we we’re looking for. Not a place to watch TV which didn’t work but we didn’t want TV anyways since this area is for outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, Canoeing and Boating.
