FAQ:
Is this cabin for everyone? — Not exactly… We want to be clear that this is a small cabin that was meant to be used as a rustic retreat. We know that not everyone digs carry-in water and an outhouse.
Is there Wifi or cell network service? — There is some cell signal however guests can use the high speed internet for wifi calling.
What about water? — Guests will need to bring any drinking water and winter/drought months wash water. We have rain barrels in summer months for collecting wash water.
What is your bathroom situation? — We have an outhouse just next to the cabin.
For showering, guests can consider visiting the Grand Marais Rec park for a $4 shower, Sauna at Sisu & Loli in town, or buy a $10 day-pass to the Grand Marais YMCA to take advantage of the gym, workout facility, showers, hot tub, sauna, and pool.
Do you have a coffee maker? — We have a small coffee maker and a pour over with filters for your use.
Do you have a grill or fire pit? — Yes, May through Oct. We have a charcoal grill. Guests will need to bring charcoal and lighter fluid. There is a fire pit. Guests are free to use fire pit year round but are responsible for snow removal to use it if they wish to do so.
How remote is the cabin? — The cabin is easily accessed just off County Rd 14 on a maintained driveway. Your views are maple forests, nature with a neighboring cabin several hundred feet through the woods.
Pets: 1 dog 25 lbs or less is allowed.
If your dog is likely to bark excessively or cause damage, we request that you leave them at home to help us continue offering dog-friendly accommodations. The credit card used for the reservation will be charged for any damages. If your dog exhibits excessive barking, disruptive behavior, we may ask you to leave without a refund and will not be allowed for future reservations.
* Ensure your dog is included in the reservation and that the pet fee is paid before arrival. Bringing a dog that is not listed on your reservation will result in a $250 fine in addition to the nightly pet rate.
* Only one well-behaved and trained dog per cabin reservation is permitted, subject to an additional nightly fee. The dog must be over 12 months old and fully trained—no exceptions.
* Dogs cannot be left alone in the cabin or on the property under any circumstances. We have wildlife in the area that is dangerous to dogs and can be fatal if left alone. If you’re unsure about your dog's behavior, please arrange for a pet sitter. Pet fees are non-refundable.
* Dogs are not allowed in lofted areas, beds, or furniture. Please remember to pack your dog’s cozy bed for their stay!
* Owners must clean up after their dogs and dispose of waste properly. Failure to do so will incur an additional fee.
* Clean your pet’s paws before entering the cabin.
* Dogs must be leashed at all times on the property—no exceptions. Keep your dogs under strict control at all times around the site and nearby in woods which has lots of wildlife.
* Any damage must be reported within 1 hour of arrival; otherwise, you will be held responsible. Items chewed on or destroyed will be replaced entirely at the guest’s expense.
* We’re pet friendly but also cleaner friendly! If cleaners have to clean pet waste, rid of strong odors or stains are left behind requiring an excessive amount of time, we will compensate them for their time at your expense.
Regarding Service Dogs and Emotional Support Animals: Emotional Support Animals differ from trained and registered service animals. Emotional Support Animals must comply with our pet rules and the pet fee must be paid. Service dogs are welcome without an additional fee. You will be asked two questions permitted by the ADA:
1. Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?
2. What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?
Service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered unless these devices interfere with the animal’s work or the disability prevents their use. In such cases, the animal must be under control through voice, signal, or other effective means and never left alone.
If a pet is misrepresented as a service animal, we may seek financial restitution, report fraudulent claims, and evict the guest without further notice, with no refund for the remaining stay.
Note that, as of 2022, airlines and rentals no longer recognize Emotional Support Animals as service animals. If you have an ESA, please book a pet-friendly property and pay the applicable fees.

About the host
Hosted by Stevie Plummer
Stevie was born in Texas and traveled all over the world until she moved to Argentina to cross over 1,000 miles of Patagonia solo with her 2 horses and dog.
Juani was a restaurant owner from Buenos Aires, Argentina when the two met in Patagonia. Life eventually brought the two back to The States permanently.
Stevie always told Juani about this beautiful little town Called Grand Marais and her idea to build, design and share a unique off-grid cabin.
So we decided to move to GM and we start our project called Patagonia Cabin, not only because Patagonia is where everything started for us, but more importantly because for us it is not to share a cabin, its to share this place called home, the history of every element, and this beautiful journey that we started as a family.
We host and manage various properties for our clients located mostly on The North Shore.
Co-Hosting Background:
*Professional STR management for clients, achieving 5-star ratings (over 500 reviews) and Superhost Status for 16 consecutive quarters in some of the top grossing listings in the area.
*Properties under my management have booking rates of over 95%.
*Bilingual: English (Native) & Spanish (Fluent).
*Scheduled staff shifts including cleaners and maintenance for all properties.
