Idyllic Oceanfront Cottage, Near Peggy's Cove!

This cottage is in a gorgeous location. It sits on 3 acres on a granite bluff overlooking the ocean, with greater than 180 degrees of spectacular water views. This is prime Nova Scotia ocean frontage. The views are unsurpassed. New for 2018- New bedroom suite with full bath and new Laundry Room, a dishwasher and new kitchen cabinets!

You would be at a peaceful oceanfront retreat, but Halifax, a major international city is only 20 minutes away! Prospect is also about 10 miles from the major tourist destination of Peggy's Cove, which is a quaint oceanfront village, with a much visited lighthouse on a granite coast. Prospect is an oceanfront fishing village. The village is fairly quiet, but the people are very friendly and can share their way of life with you. Waterfront recreation abounds with everything from sea kayaking to sailing, water skiing, motor boating, fishing and whale watching. There is a two mile stretch of undeveloped public land ('crown land', as it is nominally owned by the queen of England) right next to the cottage that is a fabulous place to walk, run mountain bike or hike. The coast is spectacular to drive along with many picturesque villages such as Peggy's Cove, Lununberg, Mahone Bay, and Chester nearby. Restaurants are plentiful, with delicious seafood. Halifax is a major international city and has first class activities and attractions, including Celtic music, professional sports and entertainment, the Citadel fortress, a charming waterfront, and an excellent nightlife.

This is a simple, but neat and comfortable cottage with all the basic amenities, and then some, on a spectacular location. I constantly update/upgrade it. It has free Wi Fi internet and cable TV. New Master Suite 2018. New Laundry area 2018.
If you are looking for 5-star resort accommodations, this is not for you! But if you want to be surrounded by gorgeous oceanfront in your private getaway, while still having a major international city nearby, you will be very happy. The cottage is best for 4 people, but there are a couple of beds in the unfinished attic, as well as a sleeper sofa.
Please note Nova Scotia and Canada tax of 15%. Pet fee $100/pet. PRICES ARE IN USD. If you wish to pay in $CDN, let me know and we will figure out a conversion rate for that time.

Exactly how I envisioned Nova Scotia. The ocean waves lapping in the front. Small fishing boats on the rocky shore. Appreciated the minimalist surroundings. Cabin clean comfortable and fits perfectly in the surroundings

Communication with the host was super smooth, and the cottage was exactly as described and idyllic. It was hard to leave. The cottage was impeccably clean. Instructions completely clear. Great value for money, perfect location, well-stocked cottage with everything we needed. Thank you for a chance to recharge our batteries in such a beautiful location in cosy comfort. If we are ever in this part of the world again, we will try to come back. Couldn't have asked for more. Thank you.

Great secluded location and gorgeous ocean views next to a quiet village. Located next to the trailhead for High Head Trail, a beautiful but challenging 2-3 hour hike along the rocky coast. Kids will love it. The kitchen had everything required to cook and/or grill. Overall a beautiful location and a relaxing place to stay. Note - buy food and drinks on the way in as the closest store is about 10km, everything closes early and there are no restaurants close by.

The location of this cottage is exceptional. The listing and reviews accurately describe the incredible views, including from the deck (and the small private deck off the master bedroom) and the nature preserve next door. There were two of us; the house could easily have accommodated two more. We brought kayaks. The waterfront at the house is rocky and the entry was a little spicy, but the kayaking was excellent. There’s a wide waterway abutting the village that is totally calm, and the open ocean can also be paddled easily, at least on a nice day. There was a small electric grill when we were there, which we didn’t use, and an electric range with burners. No exhaust fan—hopefully the fish we cooked won’t still smell when you go!

Very rustic cabin. Address not visible from the road and is located off a two-track drive, not well communicated. I arrived to the cabin late in the fog and notified the caretaker and host I could not locate the exact drive. No return call from the owner, the caretaker did return a call (thank you!) the next morning. After almost an hour, I located the two track and entered the cabin. Much more rustic than I anticipated, too warm and not good ventilation. I could not stay. The owner was very defensive, just recently moved, no internet but communicated via VRBO app (after chastising me for not reaching out to the caretaker first, which I had). Unable to consider any return (even for the night we had to find this place) and I lost out all together. So, if there was a beautiful view here, I simply could not get past the front door. Not a good experience at all and I've stayed at many VRBO rentals.

All the other reviews (about 10) around this guest's arrival have been 5/5. The guest arrived at 12:30 AM, in the fog. As mentioned, I just moved to a house without internet set up, and even if It was, it is unlikely I would get her message at 12:30 AM. I did respond promptly in the morning. I make sure in the listing that guests understand that the property is authentic and not luxurious. Guests love that and I have nearly 200 5/5 reviews. I believe the guest was spooked to arrive late at night and in the fog. No other guests have reported having trouble finding the cottage. I have tried to address her concern by placing a reflective sign at the entrance. My road is not a "two-track drive". It is a gravel, public road, like so many in Nova Scotia. I implored the guest to return to the cottage the next morning and to see how lovely it is, but she refused. I stand by my place and the hundreds of 5/5 reviews and the many comments complimenting my responsiveness and communication.

Cozy Ocean Retreat

Our stay was wonderful. The location is fabulous and the cottage has everything we needed. We love that there were two bathrooms and the beds were very comfortable. The Crown Land nearby was great to explore. Would stay again!

The perfect spot!

We really enjoyed our stay at this little seaside house in Prospect! It had everything we needed, and the views were fantastic. Plus it was handy for seeing different sites. Our two pugs loved it too!

Perfect Ocean front vacation

My family and I LOVED our stay. The views are 10/10. The location was perfect for our East Coast vacation! Close enough to Halifax, Peggy’s cove, Lunenberg, Mahone Bay, for day trips. We also enjoyed exploring the waterfront and the nearby trails. We had the best time, it was hard to leave

Fantastic location. Peaceful. Relaxing. Far from the business of cities and usual tourist locations. Views are stunning. House was cozy. Would recommend this property to others wanting a quiet place to relax.Only issue was the coffee maker didn't work. We improvised.

Beautiful location and stay

this little cottage is sitting on the rocks of a beautiful fishing village, it was actually better and prettier than the pictures could tell. Very clean, well equipped and comfortable. The owner was very prompt in answering questions. I hope to come back

Shhhh. Don’t tell.

This was our third stay here and we’re all ready to book next year. For us (and our dog), this place has absolutely everything we want in a vacation. Lovely walks and sunsets, great variety of paddling opportunities, good ocean swimming, and perfect porches to bask/read/watch the world go by.

Perfect coastal getaway

Typically we like variety and not to repeat visiting the same location. This place will be the exception. We will definitely be back. Its a breathtaking location. Enjoyed all 2 weeks we spent there, rain or shine.

Forget your troubles

The stay was perfect. September is a great time to experience NS. Sitting on the deck was very pleasant. Access to the crown lands was a huge positive - we didn't feel the need to leave and tourists and just walked the cliff trail each day. The accommodations were good and met our expectations and needs.

Great location

Situated right on the coastline in a nice quiet peaceful area where we could relax and unwind after a busy day out in Halifax which is conveniently only a 30 minute drive away. If looking for somewhere close to town but offering great views, and that peace away from the hassle of town, would definitely recommend. While some may consider a little rustic in nature, it perfectly met our needs and met all our expectations. A great find for us for our vacation.

This location is stunning, and Nova Scotia is very scenic, with very friendly people.

What makes this property unique

The view is spectacular, and miles of undeveloped scenic coastline abut the cottage. The cottage is in excellent shape and is quite cozy and charming. Nearby Halifax offer a big city atmosphere, but you would feel like you are in a totally separate world while at the cottage.
