This historic homestead has German heritage, a homestead built by sheer will and perseverance. It graced the Reading Eagle on October 19, 1941. The Headline, "Woman at Work - She Helps Her Family Build Home”, is a tribute to the immigrants from all over the world who fashion an amazing life from nothing. The apartment is original and built during the 1930-40's. It took 8 years to build this home. Every stone was picked up by hand by two boys. The apartment was a payment in kind for 8 years of labor. The boys carried masonry tools to school daily.

We are located three miles from Daniel Boone Homestead. Easy access to route 422 and 562. Explore historic Berks County PA. Parking is available on site, right in front of three car garage. Limit one car per guest. Please let me know if you need to make other arrangements. 10+ restaurants within a 5-minute drive including Exeter Family and Sunset Diners. Washer & Dryer availability for all long-term Guests over 7 days.

At Sanctuary of the Swan, we believe in transparency up front, no surprises. We have a set of rules (House Rules/House Manual). They ensure your pleasant stay. They are complete & honest. Like a hotel, we do ask for a small REFUNDABLE security DP of $100 as we are giving you access to a historic property. We believe this is fair. (Additional $150 dog & spa stays. Abb Guests pay spa DP only.)

We wish you a peaceful and Safe Stay in PA. Thank you for reading, Sanctuary of the Swan, wellness nature reserve & whole home hotel alternative in Birdsboro (Stonersville PA)

Quiet space with sounds of nature
Very quaint cottage feel, with full kitchen, bath, living room, bedroom and small private porch overlooking the pond. The owners, left a lovely welcome on the bed of imported sparkling pear/apple juice and chocolates. The breakfast assortment of fruit, local bread, butter, eggs, granola and more was artistically displayed in the refrigerator. The space was very clean and the bed was plush. If you would like a space to work quietly this is for you.

Summer Adventure
The house was wonderful! Our 7-year old grandson loved going out on the back porch and seeing the swans swimming in the pond. Kimberly was an outstanding host! She was waiting for us to arrive with a smile and the check-in process was so easy. She blessed us with farm fresh eggs as we were staying for 15 days. The house was centrally located to all the adventures we had planned, which included New York, New Jersey, Poconos & Hershey Park. Each were day trips. The hospitality we received was amazing and their willingness to help me with my disability was pure generosity & came from the heart of understanding. When we return to the East we hope to be able to stay here again. The neighborhood is quiet, close to a grocery store, restaurants and the main roads without being near the traffic & noise. The kitchen is equipped and the appliance all work. We ate at least 1 meal each day at the house. We also had a house dove who stayed in her nest on the ledge over the front screen door. I greeted her each morning as we left for our days adventure.
