About this property
Remodeled Cayuga Lake Cottage - nice yard & waterfront, near Treleaven winery
Located on a quiet side road 30 min from Ithaca and 5 min from Treleaven Winery, our four season lakehouse is ideal for family time at the lake or a romantic getaway. The house is comfortable and thoughtfully furnished. With a sunny flat yard, hot tub, deck, new lakeside shack, kayaks, long dock, shady grass patio by the water, fire pit and rec room, there are lots of spaces to spread out. We face the afternoon sun and sunsets, and have deep, clear water. Sit by the lake and feel your blood pressure drop! New pictures coming in May...
Our cottage was built in 1951 and is 1100 square feet. We bought it in 2020 and spent over a year and a half remodeling every room, converting the wood floor garage into a recreation room, and building a new lakeside shack by the shore. We've tried for the "looks like its always been there" design approach and used sustainable materials and energy options.
The living room looks out to the lake with a large window and is open the kitchen. It has ductless heat pump/air conditioning and a pellet stove. The kitchen is fully supplied, including a dishwasher. Next to the living room is a dining area and den/TV room, which has a new high quality queen size sleeper sofa and curtains to create privacy. The main bedroom has a new queen size bed and a large window facing the lake, and the second bedroom has two twin size beds with new mattresses. The bathroom has a shower/tub combination and there is a washer and dryer. We have drinkable filtered well water.
In the back yard we have a hot tub and a new deck with a table, chairs and gas grill. The flat yard is a nice place for yard games and we have a fire pit with supplied wood. There are about twenty steps to reach the shoreline area, which is very few compared with most Cayuga lake properties.
The converted recreation room has a ping pong table, couch and chair, "vintage" boombox, and board games.
At the shore there is a nice shady area in the summer for sitting and the new shack with a mini fridge, cozy/romantic lighting, couch and table. The dock extends out to a deep section of the lake and is wonderful for jumping into the water. We have kayaks, paddle boards and life vests for guests to use. (Not available late Nov. through April for cold water safety)
The neighbors along the lake are a nice community of people that know each other well. There are a couple neighbor's dogs that are allowed to wander around off leash. They are friendly, but you may encounter them occasionally in the yard.

We had a great time! The house was great! Clean, beautiful view and the hot tub was wonderful. We stayed when it was very snowy and cold but we still enjoyed every minute of it. Our host was so helpful and kind and the whole experience made for a great first time at the finger lakes! We can’t wait to come back.
Had a lovely weekend at the cottage. The views were amazing. The bed was super comfy. We got to enjoy the hot tub, and some local food.Take Adam's advice and bring slippers...that tile floor was chilly. Thinking about heading back in the summer for so.e lake fishing and kayaking. Thank you, we had a wonderful time.
Host was extremely helpful. Property was exactly as advertised and a dream. It was perfect for a weekend get away on the lake. Highly recommend and will hopefully return soon!
What a fantastic little cottage right on the lake! We stayed during extreme cold, so we did not get to enjoy the outdoor amenities. However, the views were breathtaking and the accommodations were perfect. This place would be perfect in warmer months! The host was extremely personable and responsive; made us feel very welcomed.
Cottage was very clean and spacious. Loved the hot tub and fire pit and the beautiful sunsets on the dock. Host was easy to communicate with; sharing pertinent information to make our trip memorable. Thank you.
Wonderful cottage by the lake! Beautiful views, especially this time of year (October). Only negative was the water quality - high sulphur smell. The provided bottled water was great, but we took very quick showers!

So glad you enjoyed it Timothy and thanks for the five star review. The sulphur smell is unusual, we were experiencing a drought and the well must have gotten very low. in these occasional situations I typically bring in trucked water but these nice folks didn't let me know.
We enjoyed everything about our stay. The location was great with a mesmerizing view of the lake and close to wineries, distilleries, nearby towns and Ithaca. The hot tub, outdoor fire area, the dock and little bunkie were great. Definitely recommend a stay here!
The cottage is beautifully remodeled and very clean and cozy. We especially appreciated the variety of places, both outdoors and indoors, to enjoy views of the lake. Having the hot tub and kayaks was a real bonus. Everything about King Ferry Cottage was perfect in our opinions, and we hope to visit again.
We had a wonderful, peaceful stay. Perfect take off point for sightseeing. Very comfortable place to spend time, read, watch the lake and sunsets. No complaints. Highly recommend!
We really enjoyed our reunion at this charming location. The cottage is as advertised, very clean with lots of space to spread out and relax.Starting the day with our morning coffee on the dock while watching the seagulls was wonderful. We hope to meet here again in the future.
Wonderful stay. Pictures very accurate. Loved the dock and hot tub. View is amazing! Kitchen well stocked with necessities. Air conditioning was strong. Loved all of the outdoor seating depending on your mood. Host was very responsive and helpful.
Lovely cottage with majestic views of Cayuga Lake. Super clean and in a great location with a very well- maintained waterfront. Lots of local trails with several NYS Parks nearby. We were 2 sisters in our 50s with one daughter/ niece in her twenties, and no one was bored.
Well located with easy access to wineries, breweries, the incredible Aurora Spa. Loved watching the sunsets while kayaking on the lake. Close to a great little hike (Great Gulley). Adam was very easy to communicate with. We were a group of 4 friends and we had a lovely lovely time.
The cottage was so lovely and tranquil. Hot tub under the stars was the cherry on top! The host was very attentive and great communication. We had a great time and will plan to visit again!
We have stayed at this property 4 years in a row and plan to book again next year. It is a wonderful place! The house is immaculate, and the views from the dock are amazing. We spent every evening watching the sunset. Probably the best and most responsive host of any place we’ve ever stayed.
We enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing 2 night stay at the King Ferry cottage. When we weren’t on the water we appreciated the deck and seating setups at various levels so we could relax in the shade throughout the day. It was wonderful to hear the lake lapping on the rocks whenever we were outside. The house itself is comfortable and well equipped and we stayed quite comfortable during some hot days.
Host was amazing and extremely helpful and responsive. We loved the location and the property but had some issues with the pellet stove that lead to the house filling with smoke and having to spend hours airing it out with super cold temperatures outside. Owner promised to have it serviced ASAP.

Wow- well up into this point we’ve only received five stars. We did have some issues with the pellet stove smoking, which I was able to resolve. It’s been fine ever since. I’m really surprised that this guest gave us one star, seeing as she mentioned that she otherwise loved the property and house.
About the host
Hosted by Adam Jacobstein
I am a woodworker and cabinetmaker in Ithaca with two teenage boys. I was raised in Rochester and spent lots of time near Naples, NY and the finger lakes region growing up. I love this area, the small changes over the years and how much has stayed the same. I enjoy outdoor activities such as paddleboarding, canoeing, camping, and mountain biking.
Why they chose this property
We designed the new floor plan to create a nice flow from one room to the while still enabling privacy in different areas. There are many ways to enjoy the lake, including the large windows from the living room, dining room and main bedroom, the deck, yard, patio area by the water, lakeside shack and dock. The furniture is a mix of vintage, antiques and brand new items like the bedding. Many finger lakes properties are separated from the water by a large number of stairs. The fewer stairs there are, the more you will go to the water, for sure! Our stairs are pretty easy to navigate.
What makes this property unique
Our location on Cayuga lake is ideal for a few reasons. We face west, catching the afternoon sun, which is very nice in spring and fall when it would be too cold to be by the water on the other side. When it is hot in the summer, we have nice big shade trees right by the shore to stay cool. We are at the point of a natural bend in the lake that makes our view of the water wide on both sides, and with the prevailing wind we are much less likely to experience algae than other areas. The water is nice and deep, beautiful to swim in. We are also very close to the new Finger Lakes Land Trust acquisition, which makes a very cool day trip on kayaks. Don's Marina is 1/4 mile to the south, and they will let you park a boat there and launch it for you for a small fee.
