About this property
Cabin in the woods 20 mins from downtown
Whispering Pines log cabin retreat
If you are looking for the authentic Montana experience in Missoula, you’ve found the place. Located near the southern foothills of the Mission Mountains, and just 20 mins from downtown Missoula, this hand hewn hand built log home is the place.
With 4 bedrooms, 5 beds, it comfortably sleeps 8. 10 if you all get a little friendly. A half bath off the kitchen is convenient. With a full bath in the master and a full bath upstairs, there’s plenty of places to get clean.
Located on a dead end road, you are assured little traffic. The cabin sits on enough acres that you truly have privacy. Out the back door is a pond that is fed by a mountain creek. It’s peaceful, it is clean, and it is cold.
There is a hot tub that has seating for 6 easily. So you can cook your brats and sit in the hot tub listening to music. Or the birds. Whatever you like.
Smoking isn’t a problem here. You do you. All we ask is that you find the ashtrays that we leave out for you. Whatever your choice of smoke, that’s your business.
There is a fire pit that you are welcome to use depending on fire status in the region. We can discuss this as it happens.
Our cabin in the woods is very close to a paved road, so all you worried about gravel….relax.
There is ample parking.
Most trailers are no problem. And we have an EV charging station available
This cabin is located approximately:
18 miles to downtown Zoo via I-90
25 minutes to kettlehouse amphitheater and the Blackfoot
20 minutes to the Jocko, and the south fork of the Mission Mountains
25 minutes to the Bison range,
30 minutes to Snowbowl,
30 minutes to the Garden of 1000 Buddha’s
45 minutes to Flathead lake,
1.5 to Blacktail, and in a couple hours you can be in Glacier National.
Additionally, the fine people of the Salish Kootenai Tribe have a very nice and very new casino close by. You can get gas or deisel. Or kick it in their sports bar, or just go crazy and jam hundos into the machines.
Yes people, a river does run thru this place. And the proximity to other rivers from here is enticing.
I’ve rented a lot of places. This is a very cool place, and we are very cool people. But it is a cabin in the woods. There are animals. There are bugs.
I only mention it because I know there are some Americans that can’t comprehend this. If you struggle with the possibility that a bear will wander past, or that spiders build webs, this isn’t the Montana you’re looking for.
We do live on-site in a separate building. So we are ready to assist with any questions or concerns. But we also will respect your privacy and won’t be in “your space”.
This home is a fun place to be. We expect you’re gonna get a little loud. After all, what good is it to be in a place where you can party a bit, and no one allows it! So don’t worry about those petty things. We aren’t. Any questions or concerns, we are happy to answer.
All the best in your search for the right place!
