Our family had a wonderful stay! Plenty of space and beautiful lake views. We also had fast & easy communication with the host. One suggestion is to do a good cleaning of the outdoor patio space but everything inside was clean and comfortable!
Beautiful Lake view from the backside of the property. It was a great little house and very cozy. We enjoyed fishing around the dock and Pro tip. If you were looking to catch some fish out there go in the evening 30 minutes before sunset be very quiet cast toward shore. Let it drop to the bottom slowly rail back. Natural colors like Tennessee shed did very well and we got some big fish.
We really enjoyed staying at the Blue Heron on LOTO. The location is awesome if you enjoy boat watching and being right on the water. The house is great with super cute nautical decor and everything you need for a comfortable stay.It was our first time at LOTO and this was a perfect place to enjoy it!

Watching the boats go by on the deck or martini deck is a great relaxing time. We are happy you enjoyed seeing that and happy we were able to give you a good first experience in LOTO. There is a ton of things to do here and we look forward to helping you with your next visit!

Zach, thank you for staying with us over the 4th! It's a great time to see all the fireworks from around the area on the Marini deck or floating on a boat. We look forward to hosting you again soon. Cheers.
Lake house was spacious and clean, easy walk to dock and close to several lake bars. We had a lot of fun!

Kelly, thank you for the review. My wife and I are very happy you enjoyed your stay. Our goal was to make everyone who stays at our Blue Heron Ozark Retreat feel they are on vacation. Tons of fun things to do close by helps also. We look forward to hosting you again in the future!
Had a group of 8 guys stay here for the weekend and loved the prime location with the beautiful view. We were able to have a captain come pick us up right from the dock one of the days and really enjoyed the view from the upper deck with some cold drinks. Would highly recommend!
Had a great weekend with friends At Jared’s house. He was super responsive and helpful throughout the entire process. Would recommend to anyone!

Amazing home! Very clean, spacious and you cannot find a better view AND spot on the lake. You walk out of the door and your feet are basically in the water. Such a great place to wake up and relax! We will be back next summer!

Dani, Thank you for the wonderful review. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay. My wife and I have worked hard at making it a vacation spot. You took great care of the house, and we look forward to hosting you next year!
When we rented this property the ad included a slip and a lift. Less than 48 hours prior to our check-in the host contacted us and informed us that we were no longer allowed to use the slip/lift. They then suggested that we tie up to the side of the dock instead as they had installed protective coverings on the dock.
This property is on the main channel near the 10 mile marker so the waters get very rough at times due to passing boats. We only had our boat tied to the dock for roughly an hour and we had damage (estimated $800 to fix) so we had to pull our boat from the water. The protective covers on the dock were missing in areas and the bumpers were cracked and caved in. We ended up having to rent a slip elsewhere which defeated the purpose of renting this property entirely.

This one is a bit tough for me to respond. We did fail to properly communicate the change of not being able to use the lift and needing to side-tie boat. For that we apologize. Last year was a learning experience for us with us being new and we strive to learn from those mistakes. If had given the opportunity, we would have tried to make it right. Even though we hate seeing a 1-star review, Lina does bring up a very good point that we try to stress in the booking and that is we are on the busiest part of the main channel. Waves get very large on busy weekends. If you plan to side-tie, please be familiar with the process and know how to properly do it. We spent a lot of time and money last year trying to keep up with fixing damage done from boaters improperly tying their boats. The boats should not be tied tightly but instead with their bumpers down loosely tied allowing the boat to move freely and independently of the dock without ripping off cleats, damaging the dock, or damaging the boat. The right side of the dock (side with all the cleats and bumpers and closest to break wall) is setup for side tying and should be used.
Steep hill driveway to park near house. Like STEEP. Lots of stairs so littles or older folks this can be tricky. The property is cute and nostalgic but the house needs deep cleaned. The white carpet in the stairs is stained so much with spills and dirt. The vents up by the loft appear to have black mold spores. The Lower deck with table was so dirty we went through a whole roll of paper towels to sit and have our coffee and play games at the table. (But it is a lake house)The back door to a small rear stoop was so dirty for no reason. Have the cleaners do better for that price. The showers and bathrooms are very dated. It felt like I was going to a cabin that hasn’t seen life for a few months. However! The house is still very cute. The upper deck is awesome to sit and enjoy the view of the boats. Lots of space if you have teenagers The waves are crazy! This isn’t a spot where I would bring my family to swim or play in the water. We tied our boat up the the dock over night and almost couldn’t secure it due to the waves. It was WILD. (This was October) The neighbors with the barn are very sweet and accommodating to our trailer b/c there was no where on property to park it over night.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a nice, detailed review. We truly appreciate that!
Being a lakefront home in the hills of the Ozarks, there are a few realities we always try to be transparent about. Bugs and spiders can be present at the lake, especially seasonally, but we do have professional pest control servicing the property monthly to help keep this to a minimum. Our cleaners also wipe down all outdoor furniture between stays to reduce dust and dirt that naturally comes in with the lake breeze. In addition, we hire a professional outdoor cleaning service at the beginning of each year to deep clean decks, railings, and exterior areas to help maintain the space throughout the season.
You are correct about the terrain. Lake of the Ozarks is very hilly, and this property has a steep driveway and multiple sets of stairs. We do our best to note this in the listing, as it can be challenging for small children or guests with mobility concerns.
The home is intentionally maintained as a, classic lake house, which does mean some features—such as the bathrooms—are not going to be your new modern look. That said, we understand the importance of cleanliness and freshness regardless of style, we continue to work with our cleaners to maintain proper cleanliness.
We’re glad to hear you still found the property charming, enjoyed the upper deck views, and felt it was a great space for teens. October can still bring heavy boat traffic and rough water conditions, and you’re right—this area isn’t ideal for swimming with younger folk which is why we ask little ones to have on life jackets even when hanging out on the dock. For adults and teens, the waves make for a fun time when swimming. And lastly our friends and neighbors there are what makes the LOTO community so awesome! It’s all part of the experience and we’re happy you got to see that.
Thank you again for your stay and for sharing your experience. We take our feedback seriously and are always finding way to continue improving and enhancing the experience!
Perfect location witj just enough protection from the main channel. This place still has the old-school lake house type feeling. You’re literally right on the water here steps to the dock. I’ll be back..
