Tucked into a woodland’s edge, and with a view across a valley to the mountains of Vermont is Hemlock Knowle Farm, a small, hillside horse farm located in the quintessential Vermont town of Strafford. The apartment is on the second floor with a private entrance and features high ceilings and expansive windows making it light filled and airy. Quiet, cozy and comfortable, it is charmingly furnished and its many amenities make it the perfect accommodation from which to explore Vermont. These include a well-outfitted kitchen and herb garden just outside the front door, Wi-Fi, smart TV, washer and dryer, DVDs, books and games. The apartment is solar powered and a heat pump provides heat and air conditioning. The village of South Strafford has a well-stocked general store with a bank and post office. Strafford is located to provide easy access for day-tripping throughout Vermont’s glorious natural beauty: I-91, 14 miles; I-89, 7 miles; Woodstock, 20 miles; Vermont Law School, 12 miles; and Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, 17 miles.
Strafford and its neighboring towns in Vermont and New Hampshire have much to offer. Strafford hosts summer concerts on The Green beneath the iconic Town House built in 1799 and the Justin Morrill Homestead is well worth a visit. Of special note is in mid-September when the town adjacent to Strafford hosts the famous Tunbridge World’s Fair, which has been running for over 150 years. Among the many experiences easily accessed from Strafford are Northern Stage, Opera North, Pentangle Arts, VINS, Billings Farm, Dartmouth’s Hopkins Center and Hood Museum, golf courses, artisan studios, marvelous farmers markets, farm stands and shops, and restaurants.

Lovely, peaceful, and perfect accommodations.
Kip was a wonderful host and went out of her way to help locate beautiful areas to visit.
Hope to visit again - thank you, Kip!
My wife and I had a lovely time here. The apartment is spotlessly clean and located on a peaceful hillside with gorgeous mountain views. Already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you, Kip (and Maude)!
Kip was an amazing host that gave us multiple recommendations for things to do in the surrounding area. She went above and beyond printing out directions and everything. The place was very clean and she made the whole stay very relaxing which is exactly what we wanted. Would highly recommend staying here if you get the chance!
I had an absolutely lovely time. The apartment is fully stocked with anything you need. Kip and Maude were warm and welcoming. One of my best VRBO stays.
Hemlock Knowle Farm was the perfect place for our weekend visit. We were in town for a wedding in nearby Sharon, and the apartment was absolutely lovely, had a beautiful view of the barn and was very well stocked with everything we could have needed. The bed was so comfortable and there were very thoughtful touches throughout (locally made products for the guests, beautiful seasonal flowers on the table, etc). We enjoyed getting to meet the owner, the resident horse and especially the sweetest black lab you might ever meet. This is a hidden gem that you shouldn’t pass up!
We have been bragging about our stay to our friends and family. Hemlock Knowle Farm was immaculate, had everything we needed, and was convenient to everywhere we went. The icing on the cake was Kip, who was a wonderful host. Our next trip to Vermont we hope to stay here. Everything about it was perfect. Highly recommended.
Went to see fall foliage. Location was great and allowed us to visit surrounding towns easily. The room was very clean and well maintained with plenty of other amenities such as washer/ dryer, well stocked kitchen, and iron that made our stay even more stress free. Kip was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. She went out of her way to help us get the most out of time there. Would recommend staying here if visiting the area.
This is an absolutely lovely apartment on a hillside with woodland views. Just up the hill from South Stafford and easy to access. The apartment is pristine, beautifully appointed, and has all the amenities - full kitchen with all cooking tools (and a full complement of herbal spices!) and access to the herb garden. Super cozy bed and comfy living room/dining room. I highly recommend!
We reunioned with 50+ year friends and classmates and returned back to Hemlock Knowle Farm each evening to all the comforts of home. Our host, Kip’s attention to detail was spot on! The bed provided a perfect night’s slumber and Hemlock Knowle Farm exudes Vermont in all its glory/greenery. A warm smile from Kip and an embracing friendly wag from Maude is all anyone needs to start their day on the right foot. Truly a spectacular, one of a kind home away from home. Ann & Jake L
We rented the apartment for a week in October, and really enjoyed our stay. From the onset of the trip, the owner was friendly, and welcomed us in person upon our arrival. She also gave us great recommendations for places to explore while we were visiting Vermont. The apartment itself is clean and spacious, has a large walk-in closet, comfortable bed and pillows, and all household products in the apartment were eco-friendly. The farm is very serene and peaceful, but is a short 5 minute drive from a General Store, which was very convenient. We loved our stay, and would definitely come back again if we had the chance.
My husband and I stayed here during Columbus Day weekend for leaf peeping and it was excellent! The apartment is very clean, cozy, comfortable and incredibly charming. We loved how secluded and private it was. It is tucked away with beautiful views all around it. I adored our host! She was very welcoming and an absolute delight. She was easily available and so helpful with tips for beautiful drives, things to see and delicious restaurants. I would recommend staying here to anyone who wants a peaceful, quiet getaway!
I was delighted with my first stay at Hemlock Knowle Farm on a magnificent fall weekend when the surrounding hills were resplendent with the changing colors of Fall. The apartment has a private entrance and is impeccably maintained and equipped with everything I needed, including kitchenware, a comfy mattress, lovely bathroom and perfect heating. Simply put, I enjoyed my stay and highly recommend this rental, which I look forward to returning too.
