About this property

Lakefront apartment with lake views

It’s a sweet place. Clean and tranquil. How will you enjoy it? Will you listen to the loons, stargaze at night, swim, fish, read a book? The choice is yours. Our lakeside retreat, newly renovated and quaintly appointed, offers an idyllic setting to relax. The apartment is in the basement floor of our home, across the road from the lake. Lake views from your bed!
During your stay, you will have use of our screened-in, lakeside boathouse (right on the water), our canoe, kayaks, fire pit, and fishing pole. The lakefront area is for use during the day and into the evening.
Many amazing hiking trails nearby. Town with restaurants, and groceries only a 10 minute drive. Great pizza, beer, and live music a mile away!

The house is on Lake Parker. We are 8 minutes to Currier’s Market, 10 minutes from the town of Barton, about 25 minutes to Jay Peak (restaurants and water park), 25 minutes to Newport (restaurants and biking trail), 25 minutes to the Hill Farmstead craft brewery and tasting center, about 2 hours to Montreal, about 1 hour to New Hampshire and the White Mountain National Forest, about 1 1/2 hours to the King Arthur Factory, Cabot Creamery and the Vermont Teddy Bear Company, 2 hours drive to the cobblestone shopping area of Church Street in Burlington.

Wi-Fi is available. There is no cable television; however, there is a television screen equipped with Chromecast to watch movies from your device. There is a Wi-Fi extender to allow internet to carry to the boathouse.

We live upstairs and are around if you need help planning your day. But we understand privacy and solitude also. Please note that the terrain in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is natural and rustic, which may not be suitable for all guests. Our property includes a sloped driveway (and parking is at the top), gravel walkway to the lakefront, and natural rock stairs around the property. Agility and physical ability should be considered to ensure a comfortable stay. Accommodation is across the road from the lake.

The Perfect Getaway and Hosts
Staying on-site at Helen and Steve’s property for six days/five nights this July, just across the street from Lake Parker, was a positively delightful and treasured experience. Helen and Steve were very welcoming and thoughtful hosts, having anticipated and attended to all needs even before I’d arrived. Like the hosts, the well-furnished and comfortable accommodation was welcoming, including all necessities. The location was close to where I traveled daily, Lake Willoughby. In addition to offering a close-up lake view, the boat house was the perfect space for me to enjoy nature in solitude. Helen and Steve truly are hosts par excellence for their charming lodging with a peaceful and picturesque property. Thank you both for your kindness and generosity as hosts. I look forward to visiting again.

Lovely Stay on Parker Lake
Helen was a fabulous host! The boathouse was a perfect place from which to relax and watch the loons and swifts. The main house was very well organized and had everything we needed. Thank you for the fresh-baked cookies, the retirement gift for my wife, and for your gracious hosting!

A wonderful time
Both our hosts and Glover itself were incredibly welcoming. Everything in the house is cozy and organized, and anytime we had any questions about how something worked there was always a label with clear instructions nearby. Helen and steve have arranged countless little details to make your stay as relaxing and comfy as can be, including fresh cookies! The lake is unforgettable and the boat house a great place to enjoy the view or read or have a snack. Cant recommend enough!

Paradise by the lake
We loved our stay at Helen's. Nothing was missing. We especially enjoyed the calm of the place and the cabin near the lake where we had the pleasure of having all our meals. We definitely recommend it!

We are Helen and Steve. We enjoy relaxing at the lake and we are so excited to share it with you! We like to explore nature, hike, kayak and read. We are always available for questions and look forward to giving you privacy or helping you to plan your day.

Why they chose this property

It’s the perfect place to relax. Things we like to do here when we are not watching the ducks and loons:
Watch the sunrise, hike new mountain trails, ride our bikes, pick blueberries, shop farmers' markets and antique shops, visit local towns, ride country roads and take in the view, and grab a tasty breakfast at the Barton Baking Company in town. Enjoy an upscale dinner in a relaxed atmosphere at the Parson’s Dinner House or drive to Albany and have lunch at The Genny. Probably our favorite is the pizza, beer, and live music at the Parker Pie Company that’s only a mile away!
At night we like to head to the Sweets Shop and get some ice cream, have a fire down by the lake, and watch the stars.

What makes this property unique

We are in a remote part of Vermont, yet we have all the amenities to make your vacation comfortable. The apartment is across the road from the lake (basement floor of our home) and the boathouse and waterfront are on the lake itself. We are a short walk or drive from necessities, including great food. Because the lake is not too large, we don’t get a lot of summer traffic. It stays very peaceful, even at the height of the season, yet it’s large enough to kayak, canoe, fish, and swim. We have larger lakes nearby should you wish to explore on day trips but you can always come “home” to the peacefulness here. Our additional little boathouse on the waterfront was hand-built by a local artisan and is very quaint, comfy, and unique. It’s screened-in and provides a wonderful place to relax during the day, or read and chat into the late evening hours. After a day of lake activities, come back up to the house to your comfy apartment.
