Billy Goat Mountain Village is owned and operated by Hootie & Christine Smith. A vision of providing luxury lodging and life-long memories to trail riders has been in the works for many years and the excitement of seeing a dream become reality is so exciting. We look forward to hosting your next stay. We try not only to meet your expectations but to EXCEED them! Come visit us in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia and make lasting memories with your family and friends!
Why they chose this property
We have lived on Buffalo Mountain for over 30 years. It was affectionally named Billy Goat Mountain in the past due to the extremely large herd of billy goats that populated the mountain stopping traffic and causing traffic to slow down just to get a look a them. Our girls thought that they owned them as pets especially since the goats would venture into the yard and eat the landscaping...we let them think that because they often provided entertainment for them. After many years, the goats have died off but the memory of the goats lives on here on the mountain. We love to ride the trails and look forward to hunting season every year.
What makes this property unique
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. We can say with 100% certainty that we can offer the closest accommodations to the Buffalo Mountain Trailhead. It is one of the most popular trailheads in the Hatfield-McCoy Trail system. So look no further, Billy Goat Mountain Village is exactly 200 STEPS from the trailhead so you can park at your cabin and go! Buffalo Mountain Trailhead provides direct access to the most historic trail system in southern WV! It offers the most single track trails for ATVs and Dirt Bikes. From this trailhead that is next to us, you have access to the four towns of Matewan, Delbarton, Gilbert and Williamson. Each of these towns offer gas, restaurants and more.
