About this property

Room for Everyone! 7BR, 6.5BA Wine Country Retreat near Downtown

Spacious, charming, and full of history — this beautifully restored home is designed for unforgettable gatherings! Just a 5-minute stroll to McMinnville’s beloved 3rd Street or Linfield University, you’ll be perfectly situated to experience small-town charm, browse local boutiques, dine at top-rated restaurants, or venture out to explore the hundreds of wineries that make Oregon Wine Country so special.

The Space

You’ll have the entire home to yourself during your stay!

Nestled along Baker Street—right between Linfield University and downtown McMinnville—this large, historic home sits in a neighborhood that blends homes and small businesses, adding to its unique, authentic feel. Because Baker Street is a main route through town, you may hear some daytime traffic, but it generally quiets down after 9 p.m. For a peaceful night’s rest, every bedroom is equipped with a sound machine.

Inside, you’ll find a welcoming living room centered around a beautiful fireplace and leaded-glass windows, plus an adjoining dining area with a long table that comfortably seats up to 14 guests—perfect for shared meals or game nights.

The kitchen features a large island and is stocked with every tool you could need. Guests frequently comment on how thoughtfully equipped it is—but if there’s something specific you’d like, just let us know!

All bedding is from Simply Organic Bamboo, chosen for its sustainable, ultra-soft, and hypoallergenic qualities—guests consistently say it’s the best sleep they’ve had away from home.

The main floor includes one bedroom with a queen bed, desk/vanity, and private full bath.
On the second floor, you’ll find four more bedrooms (three with queen beds, one with a full), each with its own private bathroom and a small workspace or vanity.
The third floor offers two additional bedrooms (one queen, one with two twins), another full bathroom, and a flexible lounge area with a kitchenette, fridge, and sofa—ideal for quiet mornings or late-night chats.

Step outside to a beautiful patio space featuring a covered dining area, outdoor lounge furniture, a gas grill, and a fireside chat table. Enjoy friendly games of cornhole, giant Connect Four, ladder ball, or Jenga under the glow of Edison string lights.

Parking is easy, with a wide driveway on the left side of the home and extra parking available on the gravel pad at the rear.

Guest Access

Guests have full access to the home and all outdoor spaces. The patio area is equipped with comfortable furniture, string lighting, and plenty of space to gather or unwind.

Other Things to Note

Our location on Baker Street puts you right between Linfield University and downtown—just minutes from shops, tasting rooms, and local dining. The area has both residential homes and small businesses, adding a touch of small-town authenticity.

Because we’re on one of McMinnville’s main streets, some traffic noise is to be expected during the day, but things usually quiet down around 9–10 p.m. To ensure a restful night, we’ve included sound machines in every bedroom.

A few guests have mentioned the street noise, but we’re proud to note that it’s never impacted a single review—most guests say the convenient location more than makes up for it.

Great House for Wine Country Trip!

This was a perfect house for a group of 9 friends and couples to stay and tour the area. It was an easy walk to the downtown and a great location to drive for wine tours, hiking, golf and a visit to the Aviation Museum. House is beautifully decorated and well equipped! We enjoyed cool nights by the fire table and just had a wonderful time!!

Excellent accommodations in Oregon wine country

Our group of 9 friends were thrilled with our stay at this one of a kind house. Vintage details make the home unique and charming. The kitchen is large and well stocked, and there is plenty of room around the large dining table and in the large family room for bigger groups to enjoy. It was the ideal space for our wine country trip.

Wine Getaway with Friends

The house was perfect for our friend group of 8 -- each of the couples having their own room and own bathroom! The house was beautiful and had EVERYTHING we needed for a fun weekend. We loved sitting around the fire each evening on the patio enjoying wine and talking about our fun day of wineries! The house was a few short blocks from the cute downtown area, so we were easily able to walk to breakfast, dinner and shopping. Emily was awesome -- making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed for a great weekend! We'd definitely book this house again!

Such an amazing house to gather!

Everything about this house was wonderful. We hosted my husband's 50th birthday party in this home and not only were we very happy with the home, every one of our guests were floored. The pictures were 100% accurate, the kitchen was VERY well equip, beds were extremely comfortable. Signs posted about the house was very interesting and helpful. Lots of parking. It is on a busy street so there was a bit of street noise, but the plus side of that is that there are plenty of stores to walk to. And the hosts were extremely proactive and fast to respond.

This was an absolutely lovely stay for our micro wedding. The house was unbelievably beautiful, and you can tell a lot of care went into curating a gorgeous, functional space that worked beautifully for party of 10. This was the most well stocked kitchen I have ever seen at a vacation rental, the parking was excellent, and the location could not have been more ideal. It felt private and cozy, and while there was some road / environmental noise, the sound machines managed it beautifully and it was a really peaceful stay. Emily and Ryan were responsive and helpful, and I cannot recommend staying here enough!!

Amazing historic home in the heart of McMinville

I booked this home to host six business owners for our annual retreat. The home is absolutely stunning. Loved being able to walk to restaurants and being so close to grocery stores. The location was also great to hit up the wineries. As a vacation rental property, owner myself, I was especially impressed with the extensive attention to detail. The hosts are so responsive and thoughtful. Highly recommended!

Girls Weekend

The house is perfect for a large group of friends! Well appointed kitchen, large dining table and huge family room for talking / playing games, etc. The outside fire table / gazebo and dining table were also wonderful. The linens were super soft and each bedroom is unique so everyone felt like a winner. The third floor kitchen was super convenient for early morning coffee or waters, etc. in the refrigerator. Location is easy access to walk to town for breakfast / dinner / walks / wine tastings. There is a little road noise on weeknights (not noticeable on weekend nights) but, the sound machines took care of it. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again at all even with small kids. The house feels like a home! Perfect getaway!!

Willamette Girls Trip

Just wow! This is a beautiful home and perfect for a girls wine getaway. Emily and Ryan were perfect hosts! The check in and check out process was so simple and we loved the welcome note and gifts. We had 6 women in our group and we all had our own space including a full bathroom. The kitchen was very well stocked and comfortable as well as the dining and sitting area where we sat for coffee in the am and cards in the evening. The perfect location in McMinnville/Willamette. We were able to walk into town where there were cute shops, tasting rooms and restaurants. The best memories!

Birthday Week and Reunion with Friends in McMinnville

We booked Emily and Ryan's 7 bedroom Wine Country Home in McMinnville for my wife’s birthday celebration (Judypalooza"), with three other couples. The check-in process was easy with a coded door lock and we were all immediately impressed by the fantastic renovated interior. The living room was extremely comfortable and perfect for our group's morning coffee. Every couple had a modern bedroom and bathroom with total comfort and plenty of lighting, not to mention outlets and windows. The kitchen is modern and very functional for cooks and observers. We had breakfast for 8 daily in the beautiful dining room. The walls are home to original artwork that blows away the traditional pastel prints in many VRBOs. My wife and I have stayed at a variety of VRBOs and related rental homes across the US. Emily and Ryan's McMinnville home is our favorite by far. Downtown McMinnville is a 5-10 min walk to wine tastings, wine bars, shops, Alchemist's Jam Bakery as well as great restaurants incl Bistro Maison (French), La Rambla (Spanish, and Thistle (American Bistro). Our daily happy hour was a treat on the rear patio that included comfortable seating for everyone, along with a gas fireplace, all under a roof which came in handy for afternoon rains. There is plenty of parking behind and to the side of the house. Overall, our group enjoyed our "Judypalooza" stay at Emily and Ryan's home. Truly a 5 star plus rating!!

Girls Wine Country Weekend Getaway

We had the best weekend at the Big Baker house! 6 Texans escaped the heat back home to enjoy all Oregon wine country has to offer! The house is fantastic - unbelievably restored with so many bathrooms added! Everyone had their own space and privacy but the house also plenty of spaces to gather as well. We loved the parlor - a comfy leather lounge chair for each of us! The house has the cutest backyard, where we enjoyed morning coffee as well as a private chef-prepared meal alfresco our last night. The house is right off the main street in McMinnville so we were able to walk to dinners, lunches, shopping and tasting rooms. The hosts Emily & Ryan were super helpful with booking & planning, even helping us source our fantastic chef. They left us the cutest welcome gift of local wine, jam and olive oil. Such a nice touch! Oh and can’t forget the bedding... Simply Organic Bamboo - many of us already ordered our own set for our own beds at home. Check-in and check-out were a breeze! Couldn’t have asked for a better stay! We will be back! Thanks again!

Fabulous as always

Clean, comfortable, beautiful. They keep the house well stocked with extra travel essentials (bandaids, toothpaste, etc.) that guests were thankful for. We definitely used the sunscreen! The house was also a nice temperature the whole weekend, even way up on the third floor. Many guests were admiring the renovations and the art gallery throughout the main level of the house. This is a great "home base" for our annual company retreat and we will be back! Thank you!

Book immediately!

9 of us stayed here for my bachelorette wine tasting weekend and we could not have asked for a better property. Not only is it walkable to the adorable downtown McMinnville, you’re not going to find a better house for a large group. So many beds and bathrooms, all were comfortable and updated and the water stayed hot the whole time. It’s such a gorgeous old house that you get tons of cool history with modern comfort and features. The backyard is perfect for hanging out after wine tasting or eating dinner outside, and the house is fully stocked with amenities, towels and extra blankets. If this place is free, absolutely book it.

Great for a wine trip with friends

Great house for our group of 10 visiting wineries for a few days. Loved how well-stocked the kitchen was with cooking supplies. Nearly every room has its own bathroom. Big dining table inside and outside. Cute firepit. Only wish for improvements would be a hot tub and curtains that would deflect the sound of the sometimes busy street traffic.

The house was the perfect size for our group of 8 girls. We all had plenty of space and there were lots of bathrooms for us all to get ready in. The backyard patio was a dream for our private dinner and also just for lounging around together. The hosts were so nice and incredibly responsive. Phenomenal wine country house!

Big Baker is easily the best vacation rental I have ever stayed in. The property is well-appointed, comfortable, and exactly as the listing portrays. The backyard was a perfect venue for our garden party. The kitchen was large, inviting, and well-stocked. The beds were comfortable and numerous bathrooms were perfect for our group of 13 girls. The location is walking distance to the main drag in McMinnville and the house has enough parking space for half a dozen vehicles. Emily is a fantastic host, very responsive and accommodating. I can't recommend this property enough!

About the host

Hosted by Emily and Ryan

Host profile image
We’re Ryan and Emily. We've called Newberg home since 2005, when we both came to attend George Fox University. Newberg is just 25 minutes from McMinnville, so we’re close enough to personally care for the home and assist our guests whenever needed.

We have two young kids who keep us on our toes and remind us daily of the joy of creating memories together—something we also hope our guests experience when they stay in our home.

Hospitality has been part of our story from the start. After college, we spent over a year working at a hotel in Germany, where we fell in love with the art of making people feel truly welcome. Emily also worked at Sun Mountain Lodge, a boutique luxury resort in Washington’s beautiful Methow Valley, and Ryan spent several years at The Allison Inn & Spa, one of Oregon’s most celebrated five-star resorts. These experiences shaped our shared passion for hospitality and taught us the value of thoughtful details, warm communication, and personalized care.

While we both have day jobs, operating our vacation rental is a true passion project. We’re constantly brainstorming ways to enhance the guest experience, from the amenities we offer to the comfort and character of each space. Every booking and every five-star review still makes us do a little happy dance—it means that much to us.

As hosts, we take pride in being personally involved. You’ll never work with a property management company—just us. Whether you have a quick question, need a restaurant recommendation, or want advice on exploring Oregon Wine Country, we’re always happy to help.

It’s our genuine pleasure to welcome each guest who walks through our door, and we hope your stay feels like a home away from home.

Why they chose this property

We chose this neighborhood because it offers the perfect balance of accessibility, charm, and authentic small-town character. The area is a mix of residential homes and small businesses, which gives it a lively yet welcoming feel. Our home sits on Baker Street, one of McMinnville’s main roads—meaning it’s easy to find, convenient to everything, and a great starting point for exploring all the Willamette Valley has to offer.

While being on a main street means you might notice a bit of traffic during the day, it also places you just a short half-mile walk from historic Third Street, McMinnville’s beloved downtown lined with boutique shops, local restaurants, art galleries, and tasting rooms. In the other direction, you can take a leisurely stroll through Linfield University’s scenic campus, full of tree-lined pathways and historic buildings.

We also love how central this location is for exploring beyond town. Within minutes, you can be surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills, visiting world-class wineries or enjoying a picnic among the vines. For a different kind of adventure, the Oregon Coast is less than an hour away, making day trips to the beach both easy and spontaneous.

While our home doesn’t sit on acreage or overlook vineyards, we truly believe its location offers the best of everything—walkability, convenience, and connection to the heart of Oregon Wine Country. Guests can experience McMinnville’s vibrant local culture up close, then retreat to a spacious, comfortable home that feels both central and peaceful.

For us, this neighborhood represents what we love most about Oregon: a community rooted in warmth, creativity, and a deep appreciation for good food, good wine, and good company.

What makes this property unique

This home stands out for its rare combination of space, character, and location in the heart of Oregon Wine Country. With seven bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, and five ensuite bedrooms, it’s one of the few homes in McMinnville that comfortably hosts up to 14 guests while offering privacy and comfort for everyone.

Just a five-minute walk to downtown McMinnville or Linfield University, you’ll be perfectly situated to explore boutique shops, local restaurants, tasting rooms, and coffeehouses. Or head out to the nearby countryside—hundreds of wineries are just minutes away.

Inside, historic charm meets modern comfort. Leaded-glass windows frame the cozy living room fireplace, and the large dining table seats up to 14 for family meals or game nights. The fully equipped kitchen—with a huge island and every gadget you could need—makes cooking for a crowd easy and enjoyable.

Each bed is dressed in Simply Organic Bamboo bedding for sustainable, hypoallergenic comfort. The layout is ideal for groups, with ensuite bedrooms upstairs, a main-level bedroom with private bath, and a third-floor lounge with a kitchenette—perfect for added privacy.

Step outside to a beautiful patio with a fireside chat table, covered dining area, gas grill, and games like cornhole, giant Jenga, and ladder ball. Edison lights create a magical evening ambiance for laughter and late-night conversations.

We’re local hosts, not a management company, and we live just 25 minutes away. That means every question, recommendation, or request comes directly to us. We love McMinnville and are happy to help guests make the most of their stay.

Spacious, welcoming, and walkable—this home was designed for gathering, relaxing, and creating lasting memories in Oregon Wine Country.
