About this property

Fabulous 3-bedroom bungalow overlooking the Holy Loch

Often described as "the gateway to the highlands and islands", this is the perfect base for exploring the Cowal peninsula and beyond. Spend your days enjoying the wonderful scenery, take gentle walks along the loch-side, rigorous hikes across the local countryside, challenge yourself to kayaking and other water sports then enjoy relaxing evenings at your home away from home. Perhaps a cosy family game night with haggis and chips or a sumptuous meal prepared from locally sourced produce in the newly renovated kitchen. A place to relax and enjoy precious time with friends and family.
Fully refurbished in 2022, complete with high quality furnishings and fixtures, our bungalow provides a beautiful holiday home for up to 6 people. This comfortable retreat is the perfect place to relax after a day of sight seeing and activities.
The spacious lounge has a spectacular view of the loch. TV and Blu-ray player available if the view just doesn't cut it! And a toasty fireplace just in case it gets a wee bit chilly in the evenings. Of course, free wi-fi is available.
Our beautifully appointed sunroom is a comfortable place to relax any time of day and makes a great reading and games room. The long, light evenings ensure that your view lasts all day and with plenty of time to win a few hands of gin rummy.
Our extending dining table comfortably seats 6 people - we know because we've tested it! A high chair is also available for the smallest family member,
The large kitchen has a seated peninsula to enjoy a glass of wine while you create. Fully equipped with oven, induction hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washer/dryer (which you hopefully won't need as you are on holiday!). Both kitchen and dining room are fully equipped with everything you need for your stay.
All bedrooms have black-put blinds so that the bright sunshine doesn't disturb those lazy mornings. A travel cot is available and, of course, all bedding and towels are provided.
Getting there: Some map search engines don't recognise the address, so you can use the what3words app using this identifier: annual.query.unfair.
If you fancy a long weekend or even a fortnight in this peaceful haven, we aim to make it a memorable and truly enjoyable occasion!

Perfect!
We had a wonderful week in a perfect holiday home. Exceptionally clean, beautiful decor, and great hosts. We especially appreciated all the extra time and details put into this rental. It was perfect! We’ve already re-booked for next year.

Host profile image
Born, raised and educated in Glasgow, I moved south to Cambridgeshire where I met and married my husband Steve. We relocated to Chicago in 2007 and recently realised how much we miss the homeland. We purchased the Sandbank bungalow in January 2022 and spent many months completely refurbishing the property - with the help of local contractors. And now it's our beautiful home away from home when we visit Scotland.
My background is marketing and Steve is an IT wizard so what better combination of skills to imagine, create and deliver a fabulous holiday home in this amazing, unspoiled Scottish location. So close to Glasgow but the peaceful location makes you feel like you are truly n the highlands.
The local community is warm, friendly and diverse. You are guaranteed a very warm welcome and maybe even a wee dram! We hope you love 3 Southern Beeches as much as we do and take good care of it until our next visit. Anne

Why they chose this property

Our dear friends Sandie and Bernie retired to Sandbank a couple of years ago and we fell in love with the location during our first visit. I remember family day trips to Dunoon but definitely appreciate the area more as a grown-up. The light summer nights are perfect for outside entertaining and our neighbours are very sociable. So, despite the calmness of the loch and the peaceful location, you won't feel lonely or isolated - unless you choose to. And, of course, there's still tons of fun attractions for kiddies as well.
Sandie is the local property manager and an excellent chef. She can help with recommendations on places to visit, dine and shop - and she may even make you a scrumptious meal. Bernie is a keen photographer and will be happy to point you in the direction of nearby locations with spectacular views. His work is featured throughout the bungalow and is available to purchase as a reminder of your stay.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location. Surrounded by beautiful, natural attractions, you will be spoilt for choice on how to best fill your days. Island hopping is fun or simply drive through the breath-taking countryside on the way to your chosen location. Perhaps a wee distillery visit, Benmore Botanic Gardens, local waterfalls or maybe a few castles.
Inveraray is just a short drive north of Sandbank and well worth a visit. The castle is home to the Duke of Argyll (you may have seen A Very British Scandal)and there is also a famous prison in the centre of town. Tons of lovely wee shops selling Scottish goodies and wonderful places to eat.
The Waverley's summer schedule includes a stop in Dunoon and you can spend the day
touring local islands on this magnificent vessel. Built in Glasgow, the Waverley is the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world so it's definitely worth taking a trip. Equipped with
restaurant, coffee shop and bar, it's an easy way to pass the day.
Hillwalking, hiking, cycling, kayaking, sailing - this is a place to enjoy the outdoors.
Surrounded by artist studios, you can shop for local photography, paintings, ceramics, metal sculptures, textiles, jewelery, glassware and woodwork in the Cowal peninsula.
In summary, you have access to everything that makes Scotland special.
