Peaceful and panoramic water views

This cozy cottage has wonderful water views from every room. The screened in veranda afforded up-close wildlife observations and lazy afternoon naps. Later, the firepit near the dock under the stars was a great ending to the day.

Peaceful & serene

We had a wonderful time at the Heron Cove property. The house was clean and had great amenities including the dock, firepit and screened in porch. My kids had a blast fishing and crabbing from the dock and we had multiple crab feasts. Nearby farm stands and activities such as kayaking made this a perfect balance of relaxation and action.

Relax and Renew

This cottage brought us both a sense of unmatched relaxation and renewal. We celebrated my retirement and our 35th anniversary at this pristine cottage where only the sounds of resident birds were heard. Our hosts were nothing short of awesome from 1st phone chat to our checkout - they were just a phone call away and shared great some ideas for local shopping and eating. Truly a week of bliss and blessings.

Gary Creek

Very comfortable, cozy cottage with no internet — just what we were looking for! A great place to unplug and relax. Everything was clean and the kitchen fully equipped. All we needed to bring was our groceries. Perfect location for daily kayak trips before the cocktail hour.

Living in a romance novel

Exceptional. Exceeded all of our expectations. Our hosts have provisioned the house very thoroughly and thoughtfully. The setting with the water so near is soothing and well maintained. Hammock time a must and we had a blast crabbing and eating them. Every tool and accoutrement was here and easy to use. Loved it all the way around.

Had such a wonderful time at this beautiful home! The location is lovely and so peaceful! The home is immaculate and has everything you need at a home away from home! Our second visit and looking forward to more!

We just love staying here! Your cottage is so very well stocked with everything anyone could think of needing, right down to extra directors chairs for sitting on the dock. The condiments in your fridge were perfect for those silly things one doesn't think to bring from home. We were surprised that you even stocked spices and such in the pantry! We found absolutely everything to be perfectly comfortable, welcoming and exactly what we would have in our home away from home. But what brings us back most often is the gorgeous scenery and the QUIET!!! Even on the lone rainy day and with our boat motor once again acting up, (thank you Sooo much for your patience and assistance!) our surroundings brought us peace, contentment and relaxation. As I said to a friend, staying here totally beats staring at sweaty, half naked bodies of the furred and unfurred variety Any Day! LOL! Again, Thank You! Thank You!! THANK YOU!!!

We stayed at this lovely cottage in the first week of September. This place is great. Very clean and nicely decorated. You can find everything you need. My husband was fishing every day from the dock, and he was very successful. You can fully relax there.Bob (the owner) was very nice and very helpful. Slice of Heaven on Earth

The Locastro's cottage is truly a gift! The cottage, the grounds, the creek, and the entire surroundings demand nothing from anyone, instead, they are there to remind you just how lovely and simple life can be and that it is to be enjoyed. Thank you, Joan and Bob!

Exactly as advertised!

The cottage was lovely, with all kitchen appliances and staples you could possibly need for a vacation. The owners were at their residence next door when we arrived and were very willing to assist with any questions. The location is very quiet and very beautiful. We plan to return.

Relaxing Getaway

This beautifully situated property feels exactly like what a home away from home should--except it's better. The cottage is comfortable inside, and lacks for nothing. Outside you have a range of opportunities for simply sitting and enjoying the amazing views, or frolicking in the water or yard. The house sits in a relatively remote area so you have ample privacy, but is close enough to the restaurants and shops in town that a couple of trips in a day (15 mins each way) aren't cumbersome at all. The house is great for a simple retreat for one or two people--or for a small family. The owners are very lovely people--they responded to questions within a very short period of time and recommended places to visit or eat in the area. We can't wait to return.

A Place to Relax

We had such a wonderful time at the cottage! We enjoyed morning coffee on the screened porch, fishing from the dock, kayaking on the creek, and evening soaks in the hot tub. The cottage was so clean and comfortable, and truly made for a restful, relaxing vacation. Thank you Bob and Joan for sharing this cottage! We loved staying here and hope to visit again.

Peaceful waterfront paradise

We had two amazing weeks at this lovely cottage on Gary Creek, just off the Little Choptank River within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. It was actually much nicer than the photos! Very quiet, clean and private, and the owners were very helpful every step of the way! Easy to work with and we especially enjoyed canoeing up to the historic windmill and sailing from the dock. The fishing and crabbing were great and we saw numerous birds, frogs, turtles and even a wild turkey! Our six year old had the time of his life, we even made the hot tub into a cold tub which he enjoyed daily. The perfect place to relax and enjoy nature.

Amazing setting and accommodations!!

We spent last week at the cottage and it was truly an amazing place. Immaculately clean with silky beautifully finished hardwood floors and an extremely well-equipped kitchen. We both love to cook and it is obvious that the owners do also, as there was any and every utensil, pot, pan, and accessory we could ever want in addition to a well-stocked pantry of herbs, spices and other basics. The peace, quiet and beauty of the setting cannot be over-emphasized and the photos truly do not do it justice. From our perspective, the only missing ingredient was either a couple of kayaks or a canoe, but if you have your own, bring them, or rent from one of the local outfitters. We arrived completely exhausted from a year of activity and did not get around to renting, but had boats been available, we would have used them. Don't miss the wildlife refuge and the Harriet Tubman historical sites. Really a very special and magical place - we'll definitely be back!!! Thanks Bob and Joan!!!!

Great place to relax

The Cottage has been our vacation get-away for the last 3 years and we are planning to return again this year. Our children (one in college and one in high school) love it there. If you enjoy peace and quiet, like to fish and crab and like to have some elbow room to roam, this is the place for you! There are only about 8 houses on the cove and rarely did we even see a boat. You don’t need a boat to enjoy the water there is a nice pier and the area is great for canoeing. The cottage is located away from traffic which makes it perfect for running and biking. Cambridge is only 10 minutes away and easy to get to so if you forget anything it’s an easy trip to pick it up.

Ahhhh......

We loved this charming home - beautiful views from almost every window, and everything to help us settle in easily and relax was waiting for us. The dock lets you really experience the changing river, and we did see a blue heron flying low across the water on our 3rd day! The only unpleasant part was leaving.

Look No Further!!!

Wow!!! If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, relaxing vacation cottage, look no further! This was one of the most relaxing vacations we've ever had! We spent each morning on the wrap-around porch with our coffee watching the sun come up over the water. The only sounds were the fish jumping and the birds singing. We wanted to try our hand at crabbing and were not disappointed! Bob and Joan not only provided everything you could need in the cottage but also had everything needed for crabbing. Even the bait! If you're looking for a fun daytrip, the Boardwalk at Ocean City was an easy, short drive. The beach there was so clean and beautiful! Although, one day away from this "piece of Heaven" was enough for us. So.. grab your fishing gear, a good book, and great company and head to this beautifully kept property! You won't be disappointed! Thank you Bob and Joan for sharing this property with us! We will definitely be back!

Perfect cottage getaway

If our family had a getaway house, we'd want it to be like the Cottage at Heron's Cove. It was comfortable, well organized, and nicely outfitted and decorated without being stuffy or spare. Everything was very clean and well kept. From the comfortable bedrooms, well-stocked kitchen, and movies and games inside to the fire pit, hot tub, and large, level waterfront lawn to play on outside, we were all happy with our early spring getaway. The view is lovely, and the location quiet. We brought our bikes, and had a few nice rides on calm, flat roads. Bob was accessible and helpful, showing real hospitality from afar. It was a perfect getaway for our family!

Truly a gem!

The Cottage at Heron Cove is the perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty of the region. The Cottage is comfortable, clean, well-maintained, peaceful, and has everything that you could possibly need. The views from each and every window are incredible (like an artist's painting) - words cannot describe the beauty of the surroundings when actually stepping outside! Bob and Joan are very helpful, and clearly take great care of this gem. Like other guests have written in their comments, we absolutely did not want to leave...and promise we will be back!

Why they chose this property

The Cottage at Heron Cove sits on a point of land on Gary Creek once used as a lookout by Native Americans. Enjoy scenic views of a private nature preserve and a historical homestead dating back to the mid 1600's. From the porch you can see down to the Little Choptank River or up to the living history museum at Spocott Windmill A short seven miles drive into Cambridge finds one with a vast array of amenities to include golf, shops, museums, spas, fine dining, marinas, antiques, an airport, and just about anything else one would want on your vacation getaway. For your sightseeing pleasure you are approximately one and one half hours away from Ocean City and Assateague Island as well as 40 minutes from Easton and Oxford. A quick drive finds you at the Blackwater wildlife refuge; although, it is not uncommon to see eagles, geese, egrets, herons or the nesting osprey from your porch at "The Cottage". In spring and fall come and enjoy the cry of the loons as they rest on Gary Creek during their migration.

What makes this property unique
