About this property
Escape with family or friends to this peaceful, 4-bedroom retreat on the water
Escape with family or friends to this peaceful, 4-bedroom retreat on the waterfront. With breaktaking views of the river and 7 acres of pristine woods, this is the perfect getway for nature lovers, water enthusiasts, families, and road bikers looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Enjoy coffee or a sublime sunset from a spacious screened porch. Fish, crab, or launch a kayak from the dock. Lounge by the fireplace in the living room or play pool in billiard room.
The space
As you step inside the house, you'll immediately feel at home with its warm and inviting decor. The spacious living room features comfortable seating and large windows that provide breathtaking views of the river and the surrounding woods. The living room also includes a fireplace that adds to the cozy and inviting atmosphere. There is also a billiard room with an 8’ pool table and second fireplace.
The well-equipped kitchen features circular breakfast table and opens up to a large dining room that can comfortably seat 8 guests, making it the perfect space for family dinners and entertaining.
The four bedrooms (a king, a queen, a full, and a twin) are cozy and comfortable, with charming views of the surrounding woods and river. Away from the noise of a city or cars or neighbors, you’ll enjoy a quiet and restful sleep.
The outdoor space of this house is truly spectacular, offering guests the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in nature. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktails on the large screened porch that overlooks the Little Choptank River. Take a walk through the 7 acres of gorgeous loblolly pine, or launch a kayak from the private dock for a peaceful paddle on the river. This property also offers a fire pit, perfect for roasting marshmallows and stargazing on clear nights.
Located in the famed Neck District, the property is just a short, 10-minute drive to downtown Cambridge, or to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, or to Harriet Tubman Underground RailRoad Center.
The property and nearby Blackwater are a birder’s paradise, offering a rich diversity of avian species. You can spot the majestic bald eagle, the colorful wood duck, and the iconic American oystercatcher. The marshes and tidal creeks are also home to a variety of shorebirds, such as the black-necked stilt, the snowy egret, and the glossy ibis. During the fall and winter months, you can see migratory waterfowl, including the northern pintail, the green-winged teal, and the canvasback duck.
Bring your kayak, canoe, or paddleboard and launch right behind the house. Or use the house as a jumping off point to put-ins near Blackwater on Rt 335, public boat ramps on Smithville Road, Taylors Island, Shorters Wharf and Hoopers Island.
Home to an Ironman and 70.3 Eagleman, Cambridge is a bike riding destiation. There are flat and peaceful country roads starting from your doorstep. We can let you know of places for refreshments and pit-stops, and the better, safer roads. You may store your bikes in our garage. Note that we have a 1/4 mile gravel driveway before you reach paved road.
The house has underground fiber optic WiFi, so you won’t have to worry about spotty satellite signals. The flatscreen TV includes Apple TV that you can use to log in to your Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc.
