Awesome weekend stay! The place was super clean and in a great location. A lot of fun stuff to do at the house. We made friends with a family of bears. That was the coolest thing ever to see them so close up.
This property was perfect for a getaway with old friends. It has all of the amenities that you would want. I would definitely recommend staying at the Sunshine Nest!
We love being together for our yearly vacation but really appreciate having the room for everyone to have their own space. A lovely mountain home that feels secluded but is close enough to Asheville to enjoy the city.
We loved our stay here! Everything was exactly as advertised. I will say, they aren’t kidding about getting to the house, but it was no issue for our AWD mid sized SUVs. Would definitely recommend
We absolutely loved our stay. The view is amazing and you almost feel like you are above the clouds. The owners provide tons of amenities and the game room is a fun feature - I really enjoyed with my two kids. The hot tub was a great addition and wonderful after a day of hiking. The owners were very responsive (a small tree fell across the driveway in a storm and they had it removed quickly)! I can’t wait to return.
Very comfortable house with a great basement that has lots of games a hot tub and a beautiful view. Greta house to pass time with the family. Definitely would like to return!!

It warms our hearts to know that you had a fantastic time with your family. We would be thrilled to welcome you back anytime you decide to return!
Our group of 6 adults were very comfortable during our stay at this property. The views are amazing, accommodations are spacious & comfortable, and the amenities are wonderful! The host communicates very effectively about each step of the process, from the welcome email to checkout procedures. The information about the driveway along with ride-share accommodations were very helpful. We were glad to have known that 4WD vehicles are necessary as it snowed during our stay (the last 1/4 mile of the driveway is no joke!). We found it easy to drive a short distance into town to catch ride-share options to downtown Asheville, leaving a vehicle at the nearest grocery store. Overall, we definitely recommend this property and hope to stay here again in the future!
Great house with enough space for 8 guys on a bachelor party. We all enjoyed our stay and would recommend this home for anyone. Would listen to the home owner about having all wheel drive, but we did make it up with a Honda Accord. They gave us a wonderful locally own company that came and got us when we wanted to go to downtown Asheville.
We enjoyed ourselves! The drive is quite up hill but if you take your time it’s no problem. There was a wash cloth shortage but other than that it was perfect! The most comfortable mattresses!
This place sits up a mountain with beautiful views on the way up as well as throughout the house. We rented this cabin for my bachelorette trip besides a little trouble due to limited parking, or was great. The neighbors weren’t too close but close enough to help the first arrivers. The morning view from the upstairs bed was amazing. The host was easy to talk to and helpful with questions
If you’re looking for a mountain escape, this is your place! The house was in pristine condition and perfect for our girls weekend away. The deck looking out over the mountains was beautiful to wake up to every morning and we loved that there were a lot of amenities available during our stay. Keep in mind that this house is IN THE MOUNTAINS! The road leading up to the house is steep and windy and you definitely need an all terrain vehicle in order to make it to the house. But we had a great weekend and saw lots of wildlife in the area. Would definitely stay here again the next time I’m looking to get lost in the woods.
The place was clean and the checking in process was a breeze. The owner communicated with us in a timely manner, and helped with anything we needed.
The downside was the 0.5 mile gravel path to get to the house. Even with our SUVs the cars smelled like burn when we got to the top, and it felt pretty scary. If possible, I would recommend paving it.

Thank you for your feedback! We're pleased you found the place clean and had a smooth check-in. The last 0.25 miles gravel road is steep when you first navigate it- but it soon becomes part of the adventure to get to those unique vistas. We do ask guest drive up in AWD/4WD to make the journey smoother
1 Star to 5 Star Review (shortened to fit character limit). We excitedly arrived at the house and discovered that it was never cleaned! Anger, frustration, disbelief. We got in touch with the host, who was apologetic and response. He had a cleaning crew out in about 30 minutes. Crisis averted. The descriptions are accurate & the house met my expectations. I wanted something secluded and with a mountain view. Heed the warnings about needing an AWD vehicle. The house is several miles in & up a mountain with lots of curvy switchbacks. The gravel road isn't too long but it's steep and bumpy. I'm not used to this type of driving so, tbh, it was a bit nerve-wracking. The house is well-equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed playing video games, the fire pit (propane) and the hot tub (not all jets were working). The morning sun bathes the upstairs bedroom; bring an eye mask if you want to sleep in. ;-)The house is 'centrally' located so you can 'conveniently' get to many activities (meaning 30 minutes to 1–2-hour drive depending on what you're trying to do). Note that there is still damage in this area from Hurricane Helene so do your research in advance.Reco to host: Create a consolidated informational book and leave it in the kitchen. There are signs in various places with details on Wi-Fi, instructions for the fireplace, etc. but they were not immediately obvious.
Mountain trips are always special, but if you get a perfect house, it adds up to your vacation. This house has all of these special features. Well equipped kitchen, cozy bedrooms, warm welcoming living room and big deck overlooking the perfect sunrise and the wilderness. Deck is also equipped with a hot tub which kids enjoyed with the lovely view. Basement has cozy bunk beds in the background of a sizable sit-out with TV and fireplace and finished garage with ping pong table and game arcade. Kids loved to watch movies there in their cave. Overall the whole experience was lovely and we would highly recommend this house to make your stay special!
The house was beautiful, scenic, and spacious for our group. That being said, our door was missing the doorknob the entire stay, the drip coffee maker never worked, and the driveway was quite steep to access despite having an SUV. Additionally, it should be noted that no Ubers, Lyfts, or taxis (we called the services the owner left) were able to access the house. It worked out fine for our group, but it may be an issue for future parties.

Hi Katherine, we're glad you enjoyed your stay! The porch door's doorknob has been repaired based on your feedback. The coffee maker has been checked and is working, and we also have a backup coffee maker in the closet. While accessing the stunning mountain views may involve navigating some steep roads, we have reliable local providers for transportation. Both the steep roads and alternative transportation options are clearly stated in our listing description.
Thank you for your feedback, and we hope to welcome you back in the future!
HI,
Even though this place sleeps 12, it is on the smaller side. The hangout area is tight and the kitchen is too. it is open which is great and the views were fantastic but the entire top floor is a LOFT. So there are no doors or windows for the large king bed master. We did not realize this. There was one cleaning issue but it was resolved VERY fast and we appreciate that from the owners. The downstairs playroom/kids area was awesome but very exposed. it was cold down there so extra blankets were needed.

Hi Lauren, thrilled that you enjoyed the views! Just a heads-up, the King Bed in the loft is intentionally situated for those stunning vistas, as outlined in our listing. Given the 4000 ft elevation, it can get chilly, but we've got you covered with a space heater in the playroom and a gas fireplace in the basement, complementing our HVAC system to ensure you stay warm. Your comfort is our top priority for a snug and delightful stay!
We had a great time here. Highly recommend. Beautiful house with a beautiful view. Owner and property manager were quick to respond with any questions we had. Easy check in and check out.
Beautiful home with plenty of space and gorgeous views. Checking in process was super smooth and all details for the home were very accurate. Definitely a must stay wether on a family/ friend vacation there’s plenty of room for everyone.
We did our annual family cabin trip and loved our stay at the cabin. Host was super helpful and willing to help out with our last minute changes we had for our trip. The cabin was clean and had all the necessary supplies and kitchen equipments needed.

We visited this area 5 years back for the first time and fell in love with the mountains, the waterfalls and the lovely people in and around Asheville.
