All three of the lakes have crystal-clear waters and provide great fishing for walleye, northern pike, bass, and panfish! Boat to various bars and restaurants on Red Cedar Lake. Plenty of open water to navigate in your boat with about 2,500 acres and 30 miles of shoreline to explore. Enjoy kayaking, pedal-boating, or taking the rowboat for a lap around the lake! Other things to note: - New Dock with huge fishing platform, and two built-in benches, being installed Spring of 2024! Enjoy morning coffee or evening drinks on the dock with relaxing water views! We always see bald eagles soaring and diving for fish from the dock :)
- New log-cabin style King bed in the master bedroom!
- New log-cabin style dining room table and chairs, and log-style bedside tables, screened-in porch patio furniture!
- You are welcome to bring your own boat and/or jet ski and tie up at our dock during your stay.
- Propane is provided for the gas grill.
- Please bring your own firewood.
- Cabin is located ATV / UTV friendly road. Hop on your 4-wheeler and go explore!
- Cellular service is poor at the cabin. We have Wi-Fi for email, messaging, FaceTime, and we have a landline in case of emergencies.
- Shoreline at the end of the dock is murky and not great for swimming or jet skis. Because of the lily pads and water vegetation, it can be very difficult to get a jet ski (or jet propulsion boat) to the dock because the jet ski can get clogged up with lily pads / seaweed. Boats with propellers do not have this issue as they can power through the lily pads and seaweed by moving slow through the waters near the dock.
- However, the lake water is crystal-clear and provides excellent swimming locations once you take out the boat and drop anchor in deeper water, or pull up to sandy shorelines all over the 3-lake chain.
- Due to health allergies, no pets allowed.
- Ring Doorbell camera located on the front door of the cabin. That is the only recording / video device on the property.

The house was very clean and prepared when we arrived! Owners were very helpful ahead of check in. Amenities at the property were great as well. Would recommend for a peaceful stay away 👍
Spent a couple of days with family. The place exceeded our expectations. Very clean, kitchen had everything we needed and the porch looked nice but to cold to test it out. Easy check in. Would highly recommend and we will rent again.
The house was very clean and spacious, and supplies (cookware, kitchen items, towels, etc.) were plentiful. The location was quiet and relaxing - the screened in porch was the best! We had a very nice time.

Thank you, Emily! We also love the screened-in back porch and the water access! Glad you all enjoyed your stay. Please come back again anytime!
Great lay out, clean, lots of kitchen items available.
Main bathroom hand towels and wash cloths were left in dryer and not in bathroom. Found them on the 3rd day.
My family enjoyed our stay at this cabin on the lake. It had everything we needed for our stay, including board games for the rainy days, which unfortunately was most of our week. We really enjoyed spending time on the screened in porch when it was too rainy to actually be outside. You need to go down several stairs in order to reach the lake, but the brand new stairs and railings made it a little easier and safer. The new pier is also really nice and sturdy. Beautiful areas surrounding the cabin, we saw many animals on our drives to and from town, one day we even saw a bear! Rental was very clean and roomy.

Thank you for the wonderful review, Gina! Welcome back anytime :)
Overall, the property is beautiful, inside and out. The house is on a super quiet corner of an already quiet lake, yet linked to two other very different lakes, providing lots of options to explore. The dark sky made star gazing awesome! The house is modern and comfortably appointed. Dan and Emily were very responsive and communicative via VRBO messaging. Although definitely not show stoppers, and maybe non-issues for some families, the WiFi is super slow, and the area around the dock has a lot of weeds.
Our family of five had an amazing time, and thoroughly enjoyed our week in the house and on the lake!
Our stay for 6 days/5 nights at Cozy Bear Cabin was wonderful. The house is roomy, exceptionally clean, and equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay. The property is well cared for, offering a stress-free and relaxing environment. The location is quiet and serene, ideal for anyone looking to unwind. The screened porch quickly became our favorite hangout—it’s perfect for morning coffee or evening chats. Down by the water, the bench seating on the dock provided the perfect view to end each day.The variety of wildlife in the area was a bonus-deer with fawns, wild turkey with poults, black bear with cubs, mink, muskrats, turtles, waterfowl, cranes, birds of prey, and countless songbirds. If you want to explore beyond the property, there are several charming nearby communities that offer dining and shopping options. We enjoyed the paddleboards provided and rented a pontoon to explore Red Cedar, Balsam, and Hemlock Lakes—highly recommended. This home offers a perfect mix of comfort, tranquility, and adventure. We would gladly return.Communication with Dan and Emily was seamless.
This Northwoods retreat was perfect! We had a group of 10 including 4 kids under 5. 😅 We enjoyed the large kitchen, serenity, the screened in porch, new dock and steps down. We caught some fish and a snapping turtle off the dock. The paddle boat was a hit and we rented a boat two of the days so we could explore.
We saw 17 deer and 6 fawns and 4 turkeys one evening coming back from Birchwood.
The property was clean and well organized. We didn't need to bring anything besides clothes and food. They have thought of everything! Kid toys, hi-chair, pack n play, fire pit chairs, cooler etc. We were pleasantly surprised with the cute s'mores kit they provided too! The owners were responsive to our questions and provided clear, prompt communication.
We will definitely be planning another visit to Cozy Bear next year! 😊

Hi! - We're Dan and Emily and we love the Northwoods of Wisconsin and want to share this special area of the state! Our cabin is located just south of Hayward Lakes Area in a rather remote location called the “Blue Hills” in the Barron County Forest (only 2 hours from the Twin Cities). Nearby is the extensive Ice Age Hiking Trail, miles of ATV & snowmobile trails, fun Mount Christy Ski Hill, and thousands of acres of fresh-water lakes and forest land to explore! All seasons are beautiful in the Northwoods of WI! We hope you enjoy your time here as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
We love how private and secluded this location is for our cabin! The cabin is located in a very quiet bay on Hemlock Lake and provides the best of relaxation on the peaceful bay while still being connected to Red Cedar lake for water sports and boating to bars and restaurants!
