This is a terrific home for a large-ish family. There are lots of hang out spaces, and bedrooms are well-spaced to accommodate a number of guests, and different ages. The location is terrific and we loved swimming and paddling off the dock! Only recommendations for improvement would be to have more furniture in some rooms, and outdoor chairs to enjoy the deck, grill, or hang by the fire pit. Access to the dock is down a longer path and somewhat steep set of rocks and staircase. This wasn't navigable for our older family members unfortunately. But Pemiquid beach is also very close, and has great facilities for all! Overall it was a fantastic vacation, thank you to our hosts!
Pros:
• Location is perfect! Quiet and remote feel, yet minutes from town.
• Water access with included kayaks was a highlight of every day!
• Large house with plenty of spaces to hang out
•Owners quick to respond to messages and left helpful notes about local highlights.
Cons:
• No smoke detectors
• No air conditioning (which is fine, but would have appreciated it being noted in the listing). Was extremely hot during our stay- and even with all fans going and windows open, it was quite hot.
• House is VERY lived in and is in need of many updates.
• Minimal furniture throughout the house. House sleeps 10 or more, yet kitchen table only seats 6. Beautiful outdoor decks, yet only two old chairs outside.
• Minimal to no place to store your clothes/belongings in any of the bedrooms. In two of the bedrooms the drawers were full of the owner’s stuff, and in two other bedrooms there were no dressers available.
• Current pictures online only show 2 of the bedrooms, and 1 of them isn’t an accurate photo with the current furniture in it.
We generally enjoyed our stay, we just felt like we were staying in someone’s personal house without much thought given to the renters renting it. And while we appreciate that may be the feel the owners are going for, we just don’t feel it’s quite set up as a rental (especially for this price).
