About the host
Hosted by John Fuik

My wife Marjorie and I are both retired. Marjorie as a legal secretary/paralegal, and myself, I spent 8 years on active duty, another 19 at Bayliner Yachts, and another 10 as a maintenance director for 4 retirement communities. We've been pretty active most of our lives raising 2 boys. Living in this area, that involved a lot of boating activities, camping, and hiking. After the boys left, we decided to build a house in Cornet Bay, Whidbey Is. Wa. on a piece of property we acquired. We hit the road in a 36ft Country Coach for a year, and got as far as Virginia Beach, before covid sent us home. Looking for more road adventures.
Why they chose this property
My wife and I built this house, with a little help from our 2 sons. We think the location is heaven, and have pinched ourselves for 15 years. This offers us an opportunity to share this wonderful place with other people, while giving us some financial reward for the upkeep of the home. We love our motorhome, and look forward to staying there, while the home is rented.
What makes this property unique
The number of activities so close at hand are amazing. Bird watching is done from our deck. 5 types of raptors frequent our skies, and marine shorebirds and ducks call Cornet Bay home. There's a marina at the bottom of the hill. The trail for the Hoypus Point old growth forest, is accessed at the top of our street. No park fees, because you're technically in the park. Jet boat tours under Deception Pass bridge depart at the state park dock at the bottom of hill. Long for the ocean waves crashing on the beach? West beach in Deception Pass state park is 2 miles west, in the other half of the park, which also boasts a freshwater lake adjacent to the beach for swimming and fishing. Pass lake is another fly only lake nearby, as is Deception pass golf center, a par 3 course only 2 miles away. Anacortes is a quaint old railroad/logging town, turned multi marina tourist attraction, with downtown shops, restaurants, and gift shops abound.
