About this property
Original RMNP Riverfront Cabin - Thunderbird
You can’t stay any closer to the river because it’s no longer allowed. Thunderbird is an original cabin that was once located inside Rocky Mountain National Park and was moved in the 1940s to its current riverfront setting on the edge of the Thompson River. Today, it sits just minutes from the Beaver Meadows entrance to RMNP and downtown Estes Park. Fish just steps from your cabin.
Wake to the gentle sound of the river flowing past your door, sunlight filtering through the pine trees, and crisp mountain air welcoming you to the heart of the Rockies. This is a place to slow down, unplug, and reconnect with the outdoors and with one another. Welcome to Thunderbird.
Slow down and introduce your loved ones to the simple pleasures of nature—just as generations before once did.
ABOUT THE CABIN
This thoughtfully updated modern rustic cabin features one bedroom with a queen bed and a pull-out sofa, comfortably sleeping two to three guests. Enjoy your own private fire pit and breathtaking views of scenic water and nature, towering pine trees, and local wildlife.
Spend your days fishing right outside your door, firing up the grill, throwing darts, or challenging loved ones to a friendly game of cornhole on the grounds. The cabin includes internet, Roku TV for streaming, a Keurig coffee maker, and a fully stocked kitchen—everything you need for a comfortable and cozy stay.
Please note: Thunderbird does not have a hot tub. If a hot tub is important to your stay, several of our other cabins offer that feature.
Upon booking, you will receive a welcome message with a PDF version of our Welcome Guide. Please be sure to review it for check-in details and tips to make the most of your stay.

The cabin was clean and had all we needed. The location next to the Big Thompson River was beautiful. Also being on CO 66 worked well with easy access to Estes Park and RMNP.
