Enjoy the best of both worlds: the privacy and tranquility of Polar Peak Lodges, nestled among towering pine trees, combined with the convenience of true ski-in access at Fernie Alpine Resort.

This beautifully appointed mountainside townhome sleeps up to eight guests and was fully renovated in 2025, featuring new carpeting, luxury vinyl flooring, updated furnishings, Kohler and Moen fixtures, and upgraded lighting. The home also features premium Decra steel roofing, custom fir trim, classic River City fir doors, and triple-glazed Lux windows, reflecting a long history of thoughtful upgrades and meticulous maintenance.

Designed for comfort and relaxation, the spacious granite and maple kitchen with stainless steel Bosch appliances opens to inviting living and dining areas, making it ideal for family gatherings and entertaining after a day on the slopes. The kitchen pantry is exceptionally well stocked, with a wide range of small appliances including a waffle maker, griddle, blender, toaster, toaster oven, Mixmaster, Crock-Pot, coffee grinder, kettle, and a choice of drip, Keurig, or French press coffee makers.

The layout works exceptionally well for two families. Upstairs, parents can enjoy their own private retreat with three bedrooms furnished in handcrafted True North pine furniture. The primary suite features a queen bed, walk-in closet, and private five-piece ensuite. The second and third bedrooms offer king and double beds respectively and share a four-piece bathroom.

The main floor features beautiful slate flooring, a convenient two-piece powder room, and a warm and inviting living area with comfortable seating, a flat-screen TV, stereo system, and access to a spacious double-wide deck with patio furniture and a natural gas BBQ overlooking the surrounding forest.

The lower level is a favourite with younger guests, offering a separate entertainment area with an LG Smart TV, a gas fireplace accented by live-edge trim and custom cabinetry, two sets of bunk beds, and a full three-piece bathroom. Walk out directly to your private covered hot tub, the perfect place to relax after a day on the slopes, regardless of the weather.

We couldn’t be happier with our stay at this cabin! We were two families of 4 and the sleeping options and multitude of bathrooms were terrific! The cabin is extremely well stocked with good quality amenities. The entire place was spotless and the hot tub was amazing! The owners were incredibly conscientious making sure that our stay was worry-free. We will definitely be staying here again when we come back to the Fernie area!

Great stay at Richards property, a perfect spot for two families of four. Very comfortable and clean. Location was good, definitely a ski in but not a ski out. A good 8 minute walk from the property to the lifts so we would drive up our skis and then walk in from there making it easier for the kids.

Lots of room and amenities to accommodate six skiers for six days. Really appreciated the convenience of ski out and short walk to hillside amenities, hot tub, and laundry facility. We (Sue and Richard) hail from Southwestern Ontario and Trinidad respectively, and currently make Toronto our home. Our blended family of four children, all in their twenties, are now leaving the nest one by one. We are an eclectic group of avid skiers/snowboarders, swimmers, scuba divers, hikers, sailors, musicians, food and wine lovers!

Why they chose this property

We vacationed in Fernie in 2000, and fell in love with the hometown feel and friendliness of this small and historic mining community which offered the best powder skiing in Canada.
Polar Peak is a magical place for us, nestled amongst the pines and firs at the Fernie Alpine Resort. By day it is a great base for the many activities offered in Fernie and the Elk Valley. By night it is engulfed by a wondrous canopy of stars so bright that you realize that the universe has taken extra special care to create this unique and unspoiled mecca. It is a place to re-balance, to pursue the joy of life (and its real priorities!), and enjoy family and friends.

Our favourite outings – apart from fabulous skiing (Oh... what powder!!!), hiking the Lost Boys Pass along the ridge to Polar Peaks or the trails around Island Lake Lodge, and thereafter enjoying a BBQ with friends. Farther afield, hiking Glacier and Waterton National Parks.
