Why they chose this property
Lake Ninevah is like heaven on earth. There are only about a dozen cottages on this large lake because preservationists took down cottages and preserved the surrounding land. It's like vacationing in a nature preserve with the conveniences of home. Relax on the lawn or stroll right into the water from the sandy beach or wade at the water's edge while the water gently laps over you-- unlike other vacation spots where the access to the water is via rock ledge. As pristine Lake Ninevah is only about 12 feet deep at it's deepest part, the water temperatures are often delightfully comfortable. Leave the traffic and stress at home. Our cottage is on a beautiful and wooded private road where you can walk or jog amidst the peace & quiet of nature. People who visit Lake Ninevah describe the lake and their experience as 'enchanting' and 'magical.'
What makes this property unique
What others have written about Lake Ninevah:
Lake Ninevah is a well-kept secret in the Eastern Vermont Gateway region. Only about a dozen cottages grace the shore of the 170-acre lake. The rest is protected land under the care of the Ninevah Foundation, a local land conservancy. This pristine lake is only shared by non-owners via the small public boat launch. A few owners of cottages on Lake Ninevah have been generous enough to rent their properties by the week. All guard their seclusion jealously. Here, they can swim, fish, paddle, windsurf and sail in near isolation. The lake has a 5 m.p.h. speed limit imposed, the only sound may be the quiet whir of a trolling motor as background for the call of the resident loons. With a maximum depth of 12 feet, the water warms quickly, inviting even the most skittish bather to dive joyfully in. Canoeing or kayaking the lake is a special treat as so much of the shoreline remains in its natural state. Anglers lucky enough to discover Lake Ninevah enjoy fishing for small mouth bass, sunfish, rock bass, pickerel, pike, large mouth bass and rainbow trout. The private roads around the lake offer plenty of leisurely walks with binoculars or camera and are great for mountain biking. Ninevah Road itself is highly recommended as a scenic bicycling tour.
Visiting Lake Ninevah is only as difficult as finding a vacation rental vacancy. Few private self-catering rentals are offered directly on the lakefront. So, invest in a great set of binoculars and come looking at Lake Ninevah. Let Lake Ninevah share its secrets with you and your family.
