About the host
Your host
Deirdre is a transplant to Texas and Jeff is a native. We remodeled and decorated our houses ourselves and treasure each part. We enjoy sharing them with travelers who also appreciate the little details and a comfortable, boutique stay.
After living in Dallas for a dozen years (and suffering years of one-way, hour-long commutes) upon our move to Abilene we decided to live in an area as centrally located as possible: we wanted to be close to everything. We love our neighborhood because it is established, safe, and has trees. MANY, many pecan trees. If you visit in season you can pick up fresh pecans off the street.
Deirdre is a former Latin instructor and current property manager and owner of Curated Stays. She usually has AirPods in and is listening to an audio book or podcast while caring for guests and homes. Weekends will find her with her friends scavenging estate sales and tag sales for treasures.
Jeff is usually downtown where he serves as the Executive Director of Frontier Texas, a local history museum.
Our four children have flown the coop. Two sons live in Moscow, Idaho, a son and DIL live in Nashville, and our daughter and her husband live in Phoenix, Arizona. Deirdre visits them all as frequently as possible.

Please note:
West Texas is windy and dusty. Despite thorough cleaning, the wind will stir up a little dust and you may see some in your space. It’s a natural part of our geography and climate. This home was the first one built in the neighborhood. It's on a corner and is set on the diagonal. The vaulted ceilings with clerestory windows provide amazing space and light all day long.
