Water Farm Nest is aptly named, nestled behind a grove of Pines and overlooking one of our small fields. From the west window, you can see the sun set behind the distant mountain range. When you approach the front entry, the seating area and charcoal grill might tempt you to sit a spell. Once you enter, you will find a hip and cozy open plan living room and kitchen with loads of light and fresh air (yes, there is also air conditioning). The bedroom has a queen bed and plenty of good storage. The shower room also has good storage. Also included is a small stacked washer/dryer. Sheffield lies between Great Barrington and the Connecticut/New York border. It boasts 3 restaurants, 2 delis, a bakery, a package store, a Dollar General store and several antique stores. Sheffield’s landmark, Dewey Hall boasts concerts, art shows, dance nights, game nights, and other one-of-a-kind events. Abounding throughout the area are Hiking/biking trails, swimming holes and several rivers to fish or canoe. The two ski slopes are equidistant, approximately a 16 minute drive. In the summer, the slopes offer more hiking and a Zipline park for the adventurous. The two grocery stores, Guidos and the Big Y, are only 8 minutes away. Great Barrington is 2 minutes further with all its quaint shops and restaurants and cinema. Its famous Farmer’s Market is every Saturday morning in the summer months. Up the road a little further are Stockbridge, Lee, Lenox, Tanglewood and the Berkshire Theatre and Dance Festivals.Or just stay home at Water Farm Nest. Read, stream a film, relax and watch the bunnies and chipmunks race. At night, gaze at the movement of Scorpio in the sky. The moon will keep you guessing where its next rise may be. There is a 3 day minimum. No daily rentals are possible. Full high season booking for at least 3 months has a better discount. Contact us for more information.

Summer in the Berkshires
This turned out to be an awesome place to stay! The rooms were as beautiful as they looked on-line. I had everything I needed, and the hosts were extremely warm and accommodating.

About the host

Hosted by Julie Osburn

Host profile image
After fourteen years in the UK, we recently returned home to the States. We chose to settle in the Berkshires to be near friends and family; for the plethora of music, theatre, dance and art; and engaging with performers, musicians, writers and artists who abound here. We are both writers, but have enjoyed many careers throughout the years. I was a professional actress and Alex was and still is a man with many hats, such as Hollywood producer and film writer manager. We both obtained PHD’s in the UK (mine in creative-critical writing and Alex’s in cross-disciplined film studies and business), so now we can both include ‘Academic’ to our resumes. I also love to cook and Alex loves to eat what I cook. Throughout the years we have enjoyed fixing sad and lonely houses, such Paradox Cottage and The Nest. We trust our guests will reap the benefits of our hard work.

Tranquility. Privacy (no attached dwellings besides the garage below, which is seldom – and quietly – accessed by us). Near to all. Wifi (which also has bluetooth speaker). Smart tv (while the Roku tv provides many free channels, please bring your own usernames/passwords for streaming apps such as Netflix, Apple TV, Prime Video, etc.). Fully-equipped kitchen.
