Welcome to Pajaro Dunes Resort, Shorebirds gated community. Located on the top level of the building (third floor, stairs required), this beautifully remodeled 1 bedroom, oceanfront condo comfortably sleeps 2 adults and offers stunning Monterey Bay views, including unforgettable sunrises over the water. The primary bedroom features an exceptionally comfortable Queen-size bed and direct access to the ocean-side deck, creating a peaceful retreat just steps above the sand.

The living room includes a 43” Smart TV with cable and streaming capabilities, perfect for relaxing after a day at the beach. The bathroom has been thoughtfully updated with a walk-in shower, heated tile floors, and a touchless faucet for added comfort.

Set in a perfectly calm and secluded setting, this luxurious beach condo is ideally located on Monterey Bay between Santa Cruz and Carmel—an ideal adult getaway designed for rest and relaxation. Miles of pristine beach invite long walks, sandcastle building, dolphin and whale watching, or simply curling up by the fireplace with a good book while listening to the waves crash along the shore. After a breathtaking sunset, gather around a beach bonfire and look for shooting stars beneath the sparkling night sky.

Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy birdwatching in the nearby lagoons, hiking the coastal bluffs, tennis courts, and scenic jogging paths winding through the dunes.

All pillows, linens, bath towels, and beach towels are provided. The fully equipped kitchen includes cookware, bakeware, small appliances, a microwave, and dishwasher, and an in-home washer and dryer are available for guest use.

This premium condo offers remodeled upgrades throughout, providing a stylish and comfortable home right above the sand.

Parking is plentiful and located just steps from the front door. Luggage carts are available to assist from the ground to the second level, followed by a short flight of stairs to the condo. The beach is just a short 30-second walk away, with approximately ten steps down to the sand.

Lovely quiet getaway

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay! The ocean views were lovely and falling asleep to the sound of waves was fantastic. Everyone working in the property office and security gate were so polite and welcoming. If you’re looking for a place to stay that is away from city life but near plenty of places for day trips, I highly recommend!

Great view

This unit was absolutely amazing! Steps from the beach, away from all the hustle and bustle but still close enough to not dread the car ride. Check-in was easy and the staff was incredibly kind. Ocean Front

The location was fantastic with ocean front views, front and center and on the top floor!! However, a grill for BBQ'ing the local catch was missing and could use some updating. But the location and views are PRIME... and quiet. Felt like we were the only ones there.

Weekend Getaway

Our weekend getaway was amazing. Loved the beautiful ocean view and sound of the waves through two sliding glass doors one in the bedroom and one in the living room. We BBQ'd dinner both nights and spent time relaxing and enjoying the view. Thank you!!!

We booked The room as nonrefundable. A few days later we got an email from the property management company saying that the fire place was condemned and could not be used. That really should have been disclosed in the ad. Other than that we had an absolutely wonderful stay. We loved how quiet the property was. We have already decided we will make this an annual trip.

Ocean View

After hours check-in was a challenge. Initially, there was no one at the gate. I had to call for help. Directions to the unit wasn't very clear. They got us to the building, but we had to look around in the dark until we found our unit. The rest of our stay was excellent. Loved, loved the ocean view.

Restful stay on the beach

I stayed in Shorebirds in a 1 bedroom top floor condo facing the sea. There is 1 flight of stairs to walk up, but it is worth it for the view and the open air above you when you are on the balcony. The inside was beautifully decorated and the furniture and fittings were in good order. The bathroom was particularly tasteful. All in all, a very comfortable condo with superb views; there were even sea otters visible from the balcony only a few feet from the beach. I stayed in early June so it was not busy, however someone close by kept slamming a door one day and the noise and vibration were easily heard and felt in my condo so that may be an issue at busy periods. Although no glass is allowed on the beach, I found (and removed) broken bottles on two separate days; a shame because it is a lovely long beach to walk on.

Hidden Gem

This is the second time we stayed at this complex. It truly a hidden gem. The entire staff is super organized and accommodating, the unit we stayed in was well equipped and had the best view. The beach is amazing you can walk for hours! If you are considering Pajaro Dunes don’t hesitate. BUT if you do. Book directly through the resort. VRBO fees are exorbitantly high, they are not itemized and I have now received yet another that I don’t know what it is for 3 weeks after my trip with absolutely no explanation. and as I try to send a email when I go into the inbox, it will not load so I cannot even send an inquiry to find out what this charge is for. It’s completely frustrating.

Be An Informed Consumer

Beautiful views, quiet and remote location. Front desk staff at Pajaro Dunes were very helpful and courteous. Our challenge was with VRBO, in that our bill nearly doubled once “Fees” were added! The link on the VRBO website we were provided to ask the owner any questions evidently didn’t work, because my emails asking why our bill nearly doubled went unanswered. The Pajaro people explained that because we booked through VRBO, instead of through them directly, they were unable to answer any questions about the fee. We stayed 4 weeknights in early Nov. (not peak season) and our total was around $1,100 before taxes and fees. They surprised us with an added $866. extra in fees and taxes! These are the positives and negatives about unit G-235 Positives: Beautiful views 2 nice chairs on deck Spacious bedroom closet Comfortable bed Two nice size dressers with ample drawers Newish kitchen & bathroom Negatives: The entry would be very challenging for seniors that are not active. The extensive ramp is winding and most all is uphill, leading to 15 steep steps. There are wheelbarrow-like carts to roll up your suitcases and groceries from the parking lot, but then you have the 15 steps to carry everything yourselves. There is only 1 small tv in the LR with 2 remotes with no instructions for use. We found a total of 4 hangars total in the condo. There is 1 lamp at the end of a couch for the entire living room, and 1 bedside nightstand with one lamp in the bedroom. No overhead light and no bedside table or lamp on the other side of the bed The only mirror in the entire condo is a small framed mirror over the bathroom sink. The bathroom sink is a huge square-edged glass bowl that sits on top of the sink vanity. (There is no way to get close to it to put on makeup). Per VRBO the fireplace was condemned which we found out after we rented it, yet there was a “Simplifire” remote to turn on the fireplace on the fireplace mantel. (Nothing in the condo saying not to use the fireplace!) None of the negatives was a huge deal, but all together for the price we paid it was disappointing. The online description lists it as having “luxurious accommodations” which is (in our opinion) not accurate.

Next time, you might prefer a beach level condo just steps from the parking area, and from the beach. We do understand that taxes (14%) add to the cost of a stay, as does housekeeping. VRBO does charge a separate fee, and shows this fee in the full rate detail when booking. Always best to thoroughly explore details, and this is a helpful tip for all. The modern square glass sink was a recent addition that most have loved. Adding a separate makeup mirror could be a great idea! Your insight on adding some lighting will also be shared as recommendations with the homeowner. If ever you have a question about remote controls or anything at all in the home, we are here 7 days a week 9-5 to assist you! Please don’t ever hesitate to ask. We’re sorry you felt it was only a 3 star experience, which hurts us. We hope to welcome you back and earn those additional 2 stars!
