The ARTIST'S TREEHOUSE is on one acre in Carmel Valley with views across the property, Carmel Valley Village and the Carmel River. It is nestled in an old oak forest with lots of light, sun and views– beyond the fog belt of the coast yet under 20 minutes from Carmel.

My Artist's Treehouse and Artist's Library couple-size apartments are at the top of the most popular in the Carmel/Monterey Peninsula area. Experience them.

A wide staircase winds up to the deck with table and seating (smoking allowed outside, only) and the double doors to the apartment. The all redwood building has a peaked, open beam, tongue and groove ceiling with cathedral-shaped stained glass windows on each end and screened windows throughout.

Carpeted with oak parquet in the full kitchen and tile in the full bath (shower)– the effect is light and lovely! Extremely well insulated, the Treehouse has a gas wall heater; in summer the ocean breezes come in early afternoon to cool and the days are FOG FREE.

Parking is a covered carport behind full fencing and an electric gate. Addit parking fee for a second car, by request only.

Lovely getaway spot

A wonderful treehouse!

We recently stayed at the Treehouse for a weekend. Everything was so incredibly clean and comfortable! The view is amazing, the location is great, and the host is very responsive and fun to get to know! She also sent tons of great restaurants and things to do before we were there, which was very helpful! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Carmel Valley and hope to return again someday. Thank you!

We loved our stay at Desiree’s treehouse. The place was just as described in the listing. The view was amazing. We loved just sipping wine or coffee on the porch. Amazing Rustic Retreat

This exactly what we expected. It is a wonderful little studio that is very eclectic and art-forward. If you are looking for a place to unplug and unwind in a place that feels like it’s miles away from anywhere yet close to everything, this is your stay. The host was very helpful and commutative, and while they were onsite, they left us alone to enjoy the retreat.

Lovely Place

Desiree was a great host! My husband I stayed in the middle of a rain storm so we didn't get to enjoy the patio as much as we would have liked. It has a wonderful view. The bed is comfy, the place has great lighting and is decently stocked. Quiet and a 3-minute ride to the downtown and every fun restaurant, winery, etc. Thank you, Desiree for letting us enjoy your darling place and for the fun chit chat! :-) Restaurant recommendations: La Rustica and Corkscrew Cafe.

Tree House

We both enjoyed our stay very much! The design of the Tree House was amazing!!! It was beautiful and private and it had everything that we needed. The owner (an artist) lives next door and she was so informative and helpful. She was a book of knowledge and had great stories, so much fun and also very creative. We loved staying in the valley so close to the village. Gorgeous area and delicious food at the restaurants. Rustica was our favorite. A highlight was the hike of Point Lobos along the coast; a "must do". We would love to come back to the unique Tree House again! The cutest artist treehouse with a wonderful host

The artist treehouse must be the cleanest property ever. That of course is a good thing to start with, but the treehouse is a magical place. It is nestled in mature oak trees, and super cozy. When the sun rises you get soft gentle rays waking you up through the stained glass windows. Amazing. And if you get a chance, find time to sit down or stand around to chat with Desiree. We had so much fun just chatting, whether it was about the Carmel Valley, her life there, her wonderful shell lamp shades, the books and life in general... So, take the tour, get to know your host, it will be amazing. Other than that, you are a short drive away from the valley, lots of wine to taste, good food, and the drive to Carmel is a good 20 minutes or so... If it is just the two of you, this is an amazing place to hang for a few days (or more). PS. No TV :-)

Had an absolutely perfect stay at the Artist's Treehouse! The location is equally lovely and peaceful with a beautiful view. Our host was extremely accommodating as I was surprising my companion with a few things sent to the property ahead of our arrival. Check in and check out were seamless and our host was highly responsive and helpful. The apartment itself was very well equipped and cozy. It very much felt like home.

Outstanding Stay

Our stay at the Treehouse Studio Apartment was exceptional in every respect. Squeaky clean, comfortable and quiet (!), it contained all of the amenities needed for our one week lodging and in an idyllic setting. Our hostess was very communicative throughout the process, greeted us upon arrival and offered "above and beyond" assistance when one of us experienced a health issue for a couple of days. We've had multiple VRBO experiences over the past few years and this one stands out as our clear favorite. An unexpected bonus to our stay was the community of Carmel Valley, just 1.5 miles from the Treehouse where we enjoyed a coffee shop with fresh from the oven baked goods and great lattes each day as well as restaurants which we enjoyed. The Monterey peninsula is a favorite destination for us and The Treehouse will be our preferred home-away-from-home for future visits.

Why they chose this property

I love the outdoors and wildlife. Between here and the 3 minutes to the 'Village' watch out for deer and turkeys on the road. At the 'Treehouse' we also have turkeys and quail, gray fox, raccoons, squirrels, opossum and birdsong. At night you can hear the river running in the canyon below and birds singing a morning wake-up. Night skies are exceptionally starry and we are fortunate with our clean air to view the Milky Way most nights.
