The Country Cottage is in the sunshine away from the coastal fog, yet a short distance drive, just 4 miles to the quaint charm of Carmel by the Sea and it’s beautiful beaches, and only 7 miles to the village of Carmel Valley. This ideal one bedroom cottage built in the 1950’s, as a guesthouse on our property is newly & freshly updated, with all new appliances and furnishings, as a small comfy, cozy, romantic retreat. Relax with the views after a day of visiting the nearby wineries, galleries, beachcombing, or a hiking trip to Big Sur and unwind with a glass of wine.

This Guesthouse consists of a living/dining room, kitchen, one bedroom and a bathroom with shower for 2. The bedroom is a perfect couples romantic getaway for 2, with its queen size bed and country view, OR also use the single size sofa bed in the living room and the queen bed in the bedroom for 2 friends.

Relax on the lounges on the sun-drenched northeast facing stone patio with fantastic wild hill views. We also are just over 3 miles away from the famed Refuge Spa for hot thermal bathing pools, wine bar cafe, and their renowned massage treatments. Enjoy the many galleries, wineries, shops & cafes nearby.

Unplug from the cell phone and the computer and simply relax, renew, reflect and retreat in this stunning location in the country with nearby hiking trails, galleries and fine dining for your enjoyment. A perfect place for a personal retreat, meditating, practicing yoga, reading, creating art, writing poetry or allowing your next book to flow through you.

Sit on the patio and delight in the hawks and occasional condor soaring high above. Or perhaps you will want to just unwind in nature enjoying nearby hiking or to see the dolphins dancing off the nearby Monterey Peninsula Coast or the seasonal passage of the whales on a whale watching boat excursion. Garland Ranch Park & Point Lobos for hiking are a short drive away.

Spend time with your sweetheart in a special place for just the two of you. Come renew your love in the perfect romantic anniversary spot. Reconnect with an old friend in our natural environment. Or perhaps you just need time alone, away from it all in a place of quiet peace and great beauty.

Enjoy the owners photographic art and abstract contemporary paintings & collages. Art coaching & instruction is available in the owners art studio on the property offered for an additional fee. The yoga loft may also be additionally available with coaching in somatic based movement practices, that the owner teaches at Esalen in Big Sur, for an additional fee.

On your way here, enjoy the drive from the south on beautiful Highway One with it's scenic turnouts, beaches and state parks along the way. We suggest you stop in the lovely town of Cambria, see the elephant seals near San Simeon and drive through Big Sur with it's world famous views. Or if you're coming from the north San Francisco, Half Moon Bay & Santa Cruz are all on your way. Explore Carmel, Pacific Grove & the Monterey Peninsula.

Owned by 2 artists & meditators, the energy here is very inspiring for artists, writers, poets, meditators, couples or friends, as mentioned above. Nearby lands were considered sacred sites by the ancient Esselen/Ohlone Indian tribes, and we ask that you honor the feeling of our land as a wonderful sanctuary retreat, not suited for parties, only quiet ADULTS !

The Guesthouse rents for standard nightly rate plus cleaning fee and Monterey County taxes, also this site adds their service fees to the traveler. Additional Event & Holiday rates. Monthly rate available, for 2 ADULTS only! Please no smoking anywhere on this property or in the cottage and no parties or pets or visitors. TOT Tax & a non-refundable cleaning fee apply. We are a NO date change & NO-Refund cancellation policy and advise trip insurance.

Please message us first, to inquire about your dates before booking, as we prefer to screen and connect with our guests and meet you first with a questionnaire, since we also live on the property. After booking we will call you and ask for your personal registration information and send a confirmation email with details, agreements, directions, and confirm your reservation within a month before.

Also note we do not provide laundry service for our guests or mid stay cleanings. We do have a stacking washer/dryer for your use.We have satellite tv, slow internet connection & do have cell service in this cottage & area. And also there is a internet coffeehouse very close by.
