Niki's Country Cottages - Pickled Pepper Cottage in beautiful Texas Hill Country, Kerrville, TX. 20 minute drive to Fredericksburg, one of Texan's favorite vacation spots! This area of the Hill Country is known for their 279+ wineries, antique shops, restaurants/bars, music, dancing, unique boutiques, large ranches, German heritage with fabulous bakeries/restaurants.
Driving into Kerrville will remind you of a European countryside with rooftops "peeking" out of the trees in rolling hills. Guadalupe River meanders through Kerrville and is abuzz with people swimming, kayaking, biking, walking along the river trail. Many amenities nearby & short drives to Canyon Lake for boating, Boerne (darling town!), San Antonio is less than an hour drive. Many unique towns each offering Texas world-renowned hospitality to visitors in their communities. Welcome to another one of our unique cottages, homey, comfortable, warm - we look forward to having you as our guests. A Comfortable House

I was quite pleased with how comfortable this house was. It is very roomy, especially the main bedroom even with the king size bed, a large dresser of drawers with a big screen tv, a closet, and two sitting chairs in it! There are two other rooms where one can sit and read (the living room which has a big screen tv and a separate room). The two back bedrooms each have their own bathrooms. The backyard is quite private. The neighborhood was very quiet. If you enjoy walking, this is a nice neighborhood to walk. One mile down the road is the Trailhead Beer Garden (a must visit) and the trailhead for the river trail. Lots of deer in the neighborhood, too! There were supposed to be three of us staying there for the Texas Woodcarvers Guild week but I was the only one able to make it. Next year we’ll all be there at this house.

Wonderful host

My husband and I reserved the Pickled Pepper Cottage for us and friends to stay in Kerrville for the 2024 total solar eclipse. We very much appreciated that the host, Niki, was charging regular rates for the house during the eclipse time when almost every other place to stay had raised rates to exorbitant levels. That alone is reason enough to recommend a stay here in my opinion. It says a lot about the fair and welcoming service Niki provides to her guests. However, due to the cloudy weather that unfortunately engulfed the Kerrville area for eclipse day, we decided to cancel last minute and drive to clearer skies in Arkansas. We knew we would not get any refund since the cancellation and refund policies were clearly laid out when we booked - which I appreciated knowing in advance. What I didn't expect was Niki's gracious replies to our cancellation and offer of a discount should we decide to book again in the future. She even offered to keep our reservation open in case we wanted to use any of our booked days after the eclipse. I was floored by the kindness. We weren't able to make it for our stay, but I highly recommend booking with Niki for the friendly and thoughtful service alone. Thanks so much Niki!

Larger than Expected

Clean and comfortable

Very nice 3 bedroom, 3 bath home in a residential neighborhood. Everything was clean and comfortable . Excellent communication with the owners

Homes have always been a "love" of mine, since middle-school :), looking at black/white photos of homes, circling the homes I wanted to buy, nationwide. My Mom would ask "what are you going to do with all of those houses?" Little did we know I would have the opportunity and the blessing to follow one of my dreams. Growing up very poor, in a large family, it never occurred to me that I was just "dreamin".

I/we enjoy looking, finding, purchasing and decorating each unique home. We have been welcoming guests (national & international) to our homes since 2013 in Colorado and Texas. It is my favorite "hobby" :)

I currently work full-time in the Healthcare Industry and prior to changing careers, I started up, owned/managed my company for many years, specializing in providing "Ambassadors" (staff) for conventions, tradeshows & special events, nationwide.

I look forward to welcoming guests to our newest addition "Pickled Pepper Cottage" and hope you will enjoy your stay in our home , your time in beautiful Hill Country of Texas and will jump at the chance to follow your "dreams".

Why they chose this property

Close to downtown, river, golf course; 1960s remodeled home (one of my fav home eras), smaller with character, street appeal, with a little "spiffing" up projects planned (new sprinkler system/sod). David and I enjoy working on the homes as well as decorating, thus we have "projects" planned for Pickled Pepper Cottage.

Located in beautiful Hill Country, Kerrville has many amenities to offer guests and close to unique areas, towns, activities which guests can enjoy. Wineries, excellent restaurants, music (nightly - somewhere close by), dancing, rivers, lakes, fishing, boating, hunting, biking, hiking, shopping, ranches, hour drive to San Antonio and 1.5 hours to Austin. Many beautiful places in between.
