About this property

NEW! Stonemont Farm Cottage in Keswick!

Newly renovated cottage in beautiful Keswick, Virginia nestled into the hillside of a historic 170-acre farm that was originally part of a land grant belonging to the father of the famed explorer Meriwether Lewis. This 3 bed/2 bath cottage provides an idyllic country retreat for your next Charlottesville getaway. In the heart of the Southwest mountain range, yet only 25 minutes from downtown Charlottesville, Stonemont Cottage is perfect for enjoying a relaxing weekend while being a short drive to nearby vineyards and cideries Barboursville Vineyards, Castle Hill Cider, Keswick Hall, Keswick Vineyards, Merrie Mill, and Southwest Mountains Vineyards.

The front door of the cottage welcomes you into a sitting room with a beautiful bay window and pull-out sofa bed. This upper level also features 2 bedrooms with Queen sized beds, a full bath, dining room, laundry, full kitchen, and access to a large balcony with views of the pond. The stairs off the kitchen will take you to the lower level that has a second large living room, designated work space, third Queen bedroom, full bath, pull-out sleeper sofa, second laundry, and second kitchen! Walk out the back door to enjoy exclusive access to the fishing pond, grill, fire pit, and lawn space. Each space has been thoughtfully designed to provide comfort and relaxation.

Ideally located within 13 miles of downtown Charlottesville, the University of Virginia, Keswick Hall, Gordonsville, Montpelier, and Monticello, this home is a perfect home base for a wedding weekend or getaway with family and friends. The back roads are a favorite for cyclists, and the Southwest Mountains' nearby hiking trails are renowned among birdwatchers.
The split arrangement of the cottage into an upper living space and downstairs suite, each with its own separate access but connected by stairs, makes it ideally suited for a family or group who wants to enjoy time together while having additional privacy.
Surrounded by trees and hillside, guests at the Cottage will enjoy privacy. However, Stonemont Farm Cabin is just around the bend. Larger groups can reserve both the Cottage and Cabin for an adjacent getaway (12 guests total). Please inquire for details on reserving both the Cottage and Cabin listed together under Stonemont Farm Retreat.

Key Features:
- Fire pit with firewood provided
- Fishing pond (swimming not permitted)
- Charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal)
- 2 kitchens
- 2 washers and dryers

Other Notable Items:
Pets Welcome - up to two dogs allowed - $75 per dog
Mountain gravel road required to access - 4 wheel drive vehicle recommended in winter weather conditions
Cell reception at the Cottage is a bit spotty, however, strong wifi signal and enabling "wifi-calling" on your smartphone is a good remedy for this
The Cottage recently underwent a complete renovation and feels brand new; however, it is still set in a rural landscape. Guests may encounter bits of nature seeking shelter indoors and will find comfort using the handheld vacuum to dispose of any insect intruders.

Perfect Wedding Getaway
We loved everything about our stay at this beautiful cottage for my nephew's wedding at Castle Hill Cider that is just down the road. It was in the perfect location, wonderfully decorated, well appointed, and even had an amazing amount of storage for the wedding cake and cupcakes that I had made for the big event. The views were stellar, the hosts were very communicative, and I can't wait to return. Choose this place to stay every time!

Loved, Loved, Loved it!
So charming, the pictures don’t do it justice. The location is ideal for exploring Charlottesville. You feel tucked away in the mountains while you’re only 5-20 minute from vineyards, trails, museums and restaurants. We’ll most definitely be back. A few friendly notes: 1) take your own fishing gear. It’s so fun, we caught a ton of little fish! 2) the downstairs is cold. Take extra heavy clothes to wear and slippers. It has a stone floor in the basement. 3) There aren’t night lights, if you have kids, pack your own. Definitely recommend!

The perfect getaway!
We came up for a wedding and on our way up the host for the VRBO we had reserved (a month and a half ahead of time) canceled on us! I was in panic mode on the phone with VRBO customer service and immediately started looking for another house. We came across this listing and I messaged the host, she responded right away and worked with the VRBO people to get us In. They went above and beyond to help us out on such short notice! I recommend this cottage to everyone it is the cutest little cottage with beautiful scenery!

Perfection
My husband, our 2 dogs, 4 friends, and myself recently had the pleasure of staying at this VRBO in Charlottesville, VA, for a wedding at Castle Hill Cidery. We loved the views from the back porch, with sounds of birds and a deer sighting. The interior was clean, beautifully decorated, and equipped with modern amenities. The location was perfect, just a short drive away from downtown Charlottesville and the area's renowned wineries and cideries. The hosts were incredibly accommodating and friendly (my husband ran into them when he went for a 6 mile run out the back door and down the gravel road). I can't wait to return to this charming retreat, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a tranquil escape.

Stonemont Farm Cottage- peace & quiet
Just far enough up a winding country road to be able to enjoy the beauty of the area away from traffic and noise. Well appointed, very clean and more spacious that the website photo appears. Perfect location and amenities for our group!
