About this property

NEW!! The A-Frame On the Tobacco River

Brand New! We now have a gorgeous cedar A-Frame available on the Tobacco River. One side opens up completely to river or mountain gaze from bed. This unit features a comfortable queen bed, high quality linens, a private sitting area next to the river and a hammock.

Glamping = Glamorous Camping. Let us handle the set up, you're here to relax! We have five cabins and two vintage trailers to rest your head next to the beautiful Tobacco River.

Whether your thing is hiking, biking, swimming, climbing, fishing, wild life watching or forest bathing, we've got you covered at Tobacco River Ranch. Come for the area recreation, but stay to relax! Glamping = Glamorous Camping. Let us handle the set up, you're here to relax! We have four cabins and two vintage trailers on the ranch. We also have a few bikes & tubes for guest use.

There is abundant recreational opportunities (and no crowds!) in this quiet and remote part of Northwest Montana. From hiking and biking and beautiful clean rivers and lakes, to world class rock climbing around Lake Koocanusa and Montana's best golf courses near by. BUT, there's no reason to leave the ranch, there is so much to do (or not do) =) right here.

On site you'll find a beautiful community kitchen with all the equipment you need, and showers and bathrooms. (There is no toilet/kitchen in any of our units.) We have a few bikes & tubes for guest use. We have built a brand new awesome compost toilet ("Le Biffy") which is near this unit, as well as our remodeled camper kitchen. Guests are also welcome to use the new and modern Base Camp building.

We're so Northwest that we're almost Canada. And we are called the Last Best Place because of our unspoiled nature, abundant wildlife, solitude and brilliant night skies.

This unit is private and tucked away from other guests. While staying at Tobacco River Ranch Glamping, you have access to our entire property, 450 acres of trails, forest, river and pasture, including our community kitchens and showers, etc. Rails to Trails, part of the Pacific Northwest Trail runs through our property.

You will experience wildlife, great vistas in a natural setting, but in the comfort of a bed with linens supplied. (And a bath towel, beach towels not supplied.) There is rugged terrain on the property and you will need good walking/hiking shoes. You can unload 100-200 feet from your cabin, but park in designated parking. Toilets are also 100-200 feet from each cabin or camper.

Other things to note:
~By booking with us you agree to the liability waiver here and under the rules.
~Guests must Check in before 7:00 pm on first night.
~Pets must be well behaved, and pre-approved (read pet rules!) and must be on leash if they chase wildlife. (Barkers, biters and chasers NOT welcome.) We expect you to "Leave No Trace" of your furry friend - inside or out! Please bring dog bowls and a cover if necessary.
~No extra guests allowed on property without prior permission.
~No fires except in designated areas - and that is subject to fire conditions (Smoky said so!)
~ALL hiking, swimming, etc is at your own risk.
~Quiet hours: 10 pm - 9 am!
~NO guns or weapons allowed.
~NO food storage or prep allowed in units (it attracts bears, rodents, etc!)

About the host

Host profile image
Hi! We are Karl, Nikki and twins. We've travelled and/or lived all over the world, and are blessed to call this piece of heaven home.

Why they chose this property

We do our best to be good stewards of the land ~ from river restoration, to regenerative farming, our aim is to share it with others, and leave it better for the next generation. Our ranch is a special place. Rails to Trails/part of the PNW Trail runs through the property, as does the Tobacco River. We recognize that these are the traditional lands of the Kootenai tribe, who fished this river, and grew a ceremonial tobacco here, giving the area (Tobacco Valley) and the river it's name.
