BIRDER'S PARADISE offers relaxation in a tranquil corner of Sanibel's less busy West End. Sanibel Bayous North is a lush and brightly flowered neighborhood that has the feel of a botanic garden and aviary. The J. N. Ding Darling Refuge is a 6,400 acre sanctuary one block east with thriving subtropical diversity including mangrove-lined bayous with Manatee, Roseate Spoonbills, Reddish Egrets, Frigate Birds, Snook, Tarpon, Osprey, Geckos, Gopher Tortoises, and many other tropical flora and fauna. Pileated Woodpeckers hunt in the Gumbo Limbo and Strangler Fig Trees in the front yard. Drift in the enclosed backyard pool while you watch for Swallow-Tailed Kites that nest nearby and cruise the treetops of the neighborhood. Grab a cold drink and throw some seafood on the gas grill for lanai screen enclosed poolside patio dining. The single-level house is fully furnished with recently updated appliances, kitchen dishes, bathing and beach towels, washer and dryer, and 3 flat screen TVs to make your stay easy and enjoyable.

We are less than a 5 minute drive from Bowman's Beach (and also very walkable to beach on paved path), one of the best shelling beaches in the US. Load up the wheeled cooler with snacks and drinks and the beach wagon with chairs, boogie boards, stand up paddle boards, umbrellas and towels (all provided) for beach time. Its location on the less crowded West End of Sanibel allows great sunset views from Bowman's Beach and a 5 minute drive to several great restaurants (Last Flamingo, Sunset Grill and Mad Hatters, Mucky Duck and Doc Ford's) and Castaways Marina with kayak rentals. The house is also a 5 minute drive to Captiva Island, boasting additional restaurants, stunning beach views, and Jensen’s Marina with it's manatees.

After a bike ride, birding, shelling, fishing, playing in the surf or a nature walk, enjoy an outdoor shower in the backyard before a dip in the saltwater pool protected by a lanai screen enclosure and the privacy of dense native and ornamental foliage. Palms, Sea Grapes, Gumbo Limbo, Wild Coffee, Hibiscus, and Bougainvillea make a wall of green with blooms most of the year. Six bicycles are provided in the two-car garage and it's just one block to the 25 miles of scenic bike routes connecting to the paved Sanibel-Captiva trail. There are also 3 kayaks available for guests.
