This oceanfront cottage is located on the beautiful West End of Oak Island! You are just seconds from "Barefootin" on the beach!



This unique home is long and wide, giving plenty of space for your family to enjoy their stay. Enjoy amazing ocean views from anywhere in the kitchen and living room. Windows span the entire front of the home giving great sunset views. This home does not have a private beach access, but is located right next to the public access. Just a few feet from the base of the ramp, you can cross over into the parking lot to access the beach!



Those who stay in the front room (Full & Twin) will wake up to the the shimmering blue ocean! The primary bedroom has a connected bathroom and even an ocean view from the room with a Queen & Twin bed! The room behind the kitchen has a Full & Twin bed. The room in the back Right has a large King bed.



There is a large well stocked kitchen where you can make your favorite meals. The kitchen flows nicely into the dining area and living area.

Please note: Linens are included with your reservations and your beds will be made prior to your arrival. Also a Welcome Bag will be waiting for you upon your arrival with starter supplies which includes 2 trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, washing machine powder, dish sponge, small shampoo and conditioner with bar of soap, make up remover, and 2 bottles of water.

The paid parking will be in effect from April 1 through September 30th and the hours are from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The cost will be $5 per hour, $20 per day and $80 per week.*

we selected this home due to the one level and ramp for my handicap mother. the decking is in bad shape, boards lifted and nails sticking out. the mattresses were also the worst thing i’ve ever slept on. we ended up having to buy air mattresses for everyone to sleep on. also even though it is “oceanfront” you have no access to beach from property. you must exit and go to public access which was difficult for my mother. other properties had a path from property to access but this one requires you to walk to road then to access.

Thank you for your honest feedback Anna. We were not made aware of any of these issues during your stay. We would have gladly sent our maintenance team over there to address the deck. We would have bought some mattress toppers for you and your guests so you didn't have to buy air mattresses. In the listing, it states "This home does not have a private beach access, but is located right next to the public access. Just a few feet from the base of the ramp, you can cross over into the parking lot to access the beach!" We would have loved to make things right for you! It was a pleasure hosting you and we hope to host you again in the future.

Family Friendly!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The house was as the pictures described. Linens were provided and the kitchen was well stocked with anything you could possibly need. We did experience some of the stuff in the other reviews but nothing that was to write home about. My kids got a kick out of the welcome bag with our supplies! It is on a good section of the beach where it's not really crowded. The house is kid friendly!! We hope to be back!

The barefootin' was the PERFECT sister getaway! The house was exactly what was promised, clean, roomy and the oceanfront views were amazing! Everyone had space to "be", and we had space to gather for meals, conversations, and card games. The host was incredibly attentive to our needs and made last-minute arrangements when an unforeseen issue arose. They made the whole process very smooth and stress-free! We will be back!

Great location. While the living areas were clean, the dishes, silverware, cups, glasses were not. All the coffee cups still had price stickers on the side of them. The silverware drawer was gross. Plates and glasses were dirty in cabinets. We spent much of the vacation cleaning dishes before we used them. The bed sheets appeared to be new and not washed as they still had packaging creases on them. What else did they not clean? Also had to chase down the host to get the code to unlock the door after the check-in time. Very disappointing.

Great views but needs some work.

Overall our stay was adequate. The house is mostly as described, older home with some updated features. The views were superb and the location made up for most of our dislikes. We experienced some of the same issues as other guests have remarked about, loose faucets in the bathroom, worn doors, some broken blinds, and dirty dishes. Additionally, the mattresses are worn and need replacing (springs felt on two beds) and the property needs a routine bug treatment. The “updated” areas appear haphazardly completed and the electrical is not up to code (ceiling fans in master are wired with a lamp cord that runs down the wall and plugs into an outlet via a multi-prong adapter). This home could be so much more charming, comfortable and safe with just a little attention to detail. Property management was responsive although most of the issues were out of their immediate control.

I would stay here again

Most of the house was as expected. We were fully aware of lack of washer and dryer and was not an issue. The house fulfilled our need for the week and served us well. The deck had a broken rusty table on it. We contacted management and they replaced the table within a few hours. Plenty of parking and loved the convenience of the beach. Charcoal grill was available and ready for use and plenty of areas outside to hang swimwear and outdoor rinse off. My biggest two complaints were one the kitchen lacked appropriate pans for cooking, frying pan was rusted and unusable, had to make eggs in a sauce pan. Everything else in the kitchen worked very well. My second complaint is the spiders in the bedrooms, ants at the kitchen window and bugs in the bathroom. It was not a lot, but noticeable like ot just needed a current spraying like any house. We would stay here again if these two items were corrected.

Nice and simple...but cold!

PROS: Great location. Right on beach. Quiet end of island. Updated kitchens and baths. Fairly clean. CONS: I'll rightly admit that most of these are a little nitpicky, but simply FYI for potential renters... - Kitchen has a decent bit of equipment, but no supplies (not even a salt/pepper shaker)...and no hot pads for taking things out of oven. - A number of nails sticking out of the flooring and on the outdoor deck (be careful). - Only gave us a single trash bag for a week - Many of the blinds are broken - Secondary door has no insulation (at least a quarter-inch open gap to the outdoors, and temp, and humidity, and bugs). - Management company not super-responsive. - Bathroom fixtures loose - Small deck only on the morning-sun side of the house. Would have been nice if the deck was beach or afternoon-sun-facing. My biggest issue with the property--which, of course, only matters if you're considering staying there in early Spring or Fall--is the lack of heat. The listing falsely claims "HVAC", but there isn't heat...which naturally doesn't matter most of the year...but if there's a snap that gets down into the 50s or 40s in the evenings, it gets pretty damn cold in there (especially considering the door with open access to the outside). The house was well into the 50s indoors when we woke up in the mornings. Brrrr!! So, overall, great location. Simple. Fairly clean. Would consider staying there again (but perhaps not over Spring Break).

It's fantastic to know that you appreciated the updated kitchens and bathrooms, as well as the overall cleanliness of the accommodation. CONS: We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the lack of kitchen supplies and hot pads. We'll certainly take your feedback into consideration and look into providing these essentials for future guests. Safety is our top priority, and we're addressing the issue of nails sticking out of the flooring and on the outdoor deck immediately. We'll ensure that an adequate supply of trash bags is provided for longer stays. Our maintenance team will promptly attend to the broken blinds and loose bathroom fixtures to ensure everything is in proper working order. Regarding the secondary door without insulation, we'll investigate this matter further and take necessary steps to improve insulation for guest comfort. We apologize if our management company's responsiveness fell short of expectations. We'll work closely with them to improve communication and efficiency. We appreciate your suggestion regarding the deck orientation and will consider this for future improvements to enhance guests' experience. We sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding regarding the heating situation. All split units need to be on the same mode. The units have the ability to be on AC and HEAT for it to produce heat they all have to be on the same mode. We appreciate it being mentioned so we can get instructions placed in the home for this. We're grateful for your valuable feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, perhaps during a warmer season.
