About this property

Intimate Cabin Off Grid Mountain Hideaway

Get away from it all when you stay under the stars. This OFF GRID tiny cabin sits on 4 private acres of land surrounded by over 150 acres of public accessible state land. Featuring a loft with full sized bed, cozy seating and dining area with peaceful views of the surrounding forest. A kitchenette has a foot pump sink, one burner stove and is fully stocked for meals. In the cooler months a Jotul wood burning stove provides ambience and comfort. Pet friendly for an additional fee!

New! We now have internet and one outlet. A portable space heater is provided if you prefer to take the chill off without lighting the fire.

Get ready for an off grid experience! Get away from it all in a camping like environment with luxury touches. A solar panel provides lighting in the kitchenette and seating area plus has enough power to charge a cell phone. The fully stocked kitchenette has everything you need to prepare and serve meals. A sink with foot pump provides space for washing dishes while inside a one burner stove is perfect for making coffee, tea and meals. Outside a propane BBQ grill gives a larger space for cooking and if you really want a treat, go old school by cooking over the fire pit.

Inside, large windows at the front and side of the cabin provide amazing views all year long. An expandable dining table looks out into nature and a cozy corner loveseat is the perfect spot for an afternoon nap or booking reading. Furnished with an eclectic mixture of vintage camping gear and modern luxuries. Pendleton wool blankets, linen duvet covers, down comforters, throw blankets, sheepskin rug, Yogasana yoga mats for inside lounging or outside meditation - this cabin is stocked for enjoyment! Games, books, sleds, Cornhole, Badminton, soft towels for your al fresco shower, a full vintage bar set, enamelware dinner set, Bodum pour over coffeemaker. What more could you ask for? No really, ask and we'll see if we have it or can get it!

There is no electric so no WIFI! The cabin itself does not get cell service but if you hike through the back field to the top of the hill you may get a bar or two. Be prepared to live off grid during your stay. Guests are provided with a list of cell service and WIFI accessible spots.

There is no indoor plumbing! A BRAND NEW, custom built outhouse is just behind the cabin. Solar heated water bags are available for bathing al fresco. The bags have a hose and nozzle to keep it easy!

Set at the back of 4 acres of land with a short uphill driveway, on a dead end road. This is the privacy you have been looking for. A large lawn area provides space for lawn games and lounging. The cabin itself is tucked under the trees providing a respite from the summer sun. Fully insulated to stay cooler in the summer and hold heat in the winter.

Stone walls line the property, built ages ago to last. Behind the cabin a field, property of NYS DEC, gets visits by local wildlife - deer, turkey, even bears! Our guests will have access to our favorite hiking trail, where is the best place to watch the sunrise and sunset, picnic spots and sledding areas!

Note that the surrounding state land is accessible to hunting so guests should check out the NYS DEC hunting page for Southern Zone before booking if you do not wish to be here during hunting season.

One dog is considered, please inquire with size and breed of dog. Pet fee applies. Sorry, no cats.

Guests have access to the entire property EXCEPT a garage that sits at front of the property.

Winter weather can be mercurial. Check the weather report for this area and plan your travel accordingly. Snow plows do not operate on secondary roads between 8PM and 5AM. The road to the house is a single lane dirt country road. It is plowed by the town of Bovina Center but will still have potholes so drive carefully. The driveway to the cabin is UPHILL. 4WD or AWD vehicles are necessary. If you are unfamiliar with driving in the snow, particularly uphill, search online for tips. Sites like AAA have good information. The driveway is plowed and shoveled to the entrance. The driveway is plowed every several inches of fallen snow but if it is snowing, there may still be snow on the driveway. A shovel is provided, please keep the walkway maintained during your stay.

The full sized bed is in the loft. Guests must be able to climb a metal ladder.

The cabin may not be suitable for young children and infants as the bed is up a ladder in the loft but the daybed is a narrow twin so a child can sleep on the main floor.

The fireplace does not have a gate around it.

There are no curtains, we love the view! If you are sensitive to sunlight in the morning we recommend a sleeping mask.

Payment processing fees are non-refundable.

Amazing Fall Getaway
This was a perfect compromise for one person who loves camping and the other who is not quite ready to sleep in a tent. Loved the basic amenities that still made it feel like camping. Was very well insulated and never felt cold. Surrounding area was beautiful and quiet.
