About this property
Private forested log cabin steps from the Bay - pet friendly
Forest meets bay at this homey log cabin one block from the Delaware Bay. Sip your morning coffee in the secluded backyard, surrounded by protected land on two sides, with a view of a small tidal pond. Enjoy the bay, always uncrowded and offering glorious sunsets. Walk miles in either direction, on the sand or on a 2-mile sidewalk to the Cape May Canal and ferry terminal. Little ones love the low surf and sand bars (and so do our furry friends). Cape May beaches are just a 15 minute drive away.
The house is very livable, with three bedrooms (two queens and a set of twins). Two bedrooms are upstairs with a shared bath. Another bedroom with queen bed is on the ground floor off the kitchen and adjacent to a full back. And there's an outdoor shower that looks up to beautiful trees. Open plan kitchen and dining area make for great socializing. Fully equipped kitchen for wonderful meals. LINENS and CLEANING included.
Do you have a big group but need your own space? Consider renting our sister property, just one-eight of a mile away, at VRBO property 864352, Strandhaus.

We had a wonderful family get-away over the Thanksgiving holiday. The house was perfect for our needs and the bay was just a little walk away. The house was pet friendly and worked out so well for our first trip away with out furbaby. Erin, our host, was so accomodating, communication was great and i felt like part of her family. We will definitely stay here again.
The house is very cute and well kept. It had everything one would need from all kitchen utensils/supplies to beach towels & chairs. The host communicated well and left many instructions and good recommendations for the area. We enjoyed our stay very much.
We had a wonderful time at the Beach meets forest steps away from the Bay house. The amenities both inside the house and outside, as well as the beach chairs and gear, the linens (much appreciated because many places we looked at had no linens), and the friendly and quick service from the property manager made our stay relaxing and carefree.
House was very clean and stocked. Loved the area, just thought the house was closer to the beach than it actually was. Harpoons was a huge hit. Such a hidden gem. Host was very easy to work with and communication was clear and timely.
This home is absolutely charming. It was cool despite a heat advisory, quiet and comfortable. It’s nestled among the trees with lots of beautiful flowers and plants around. The backyard is a peaceful spot to sit and enjoy the birds. Erin was extremely accommodating and helpful before and throughout our stay and we would love to go back sometime. I highly recommend this spot!
Very nice house, backs to a nature preserve. Short walk to bay beach, which is one of the rare beaches on the eastern seaboard that allows dogs in the summertime. Quiet neighborhood. A great stay.
Perfect location for a long holiday weekend stay. We were able to bring our furry family member with us since the house was pet friendly. Erin was very responsive with my multiple questions and the house was immaculate. Great experience and highly recommend!
We had a great time! The home is clean and cozy; we had 3 adults and 2 dogs, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The first-floor bedroom was perfect for my handicapped mother.
We were close enough to the beach to take the dogs on walks, and far enough from town that we felt relaxed.
Thank you for a wonderful time! We’re grateful for your hospitality.
Very nice house and nice location. One block from the beach in a section of Cape May that doesn’t get too crowded. This house can comfortably hold six people. Kitchen was fully equipped. Spacious backyard with a nice fire pit is a bonus.
The property was clean, well maintained, modern amenities, great location, easy to figure out entrance, television, washing machine, microwave, household directions etc.
Our family has stayed at several different NJ beaches and homes and this was everyone's favorite. There were so many reasons we loved the home - the privacy in the woods, the perfect size for our family, the downstairs bedroom and bathroom, the large kitchen, the supplies for everything, the proximity to the bay, couches were unbelievable comfortable, etc. I especially liked how there was space to put our belongings in different living areas. The communication and easy check-in were perfect. The neighborhood was fantastic and peaceful. The beds were top rate! We would love to come back again!
At the last minute, our family decided to take a vacation to the “shore”or beach depending on where you grew up. I searched the VRBO website and found Erin’s beautiful home, located close to the bay beach (1 block) and near a state park which is literally the back yard of the home. A very beautiful, quite and relaxing setting.
Upon entering Waldhaus, you immediately feel at home. The presentation of the home on VRBO is highly accurate with some other surprises. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you would have at your own home. The outdoor shower is a dream, the backyard is inviting and the frozen beer steins were a nice surprise.
Our stay at Waldhaus was the best vacation we’ve experienced at the Shore. We hope to return in the very near future.
Nestled in a wooded area adjacent to a preserve, the house is very quiet with a cozy firepit and picnic area in back. An outdoor shower helps keep sand to a minimum indoors. Beach chairs and umbrella are in an easily accessible shack in back. All beds and furniture are comfortable and the layout indoors is perfect for multigenerational living. An open floorplan with large patio on the first floor (and one offset bedroom with large closet, two large dressers and bath) provides ample space for multiple concurrent activities. Two bedrooms, ample closet space and dressers, and a bathroom with walk-in shower are available upstairs. Dogs are permitted, but not being dog owners, we are glad that was not evident (they provide towels for wiping down your pet before allowing it indoors). The house is located about 1 block from the bay (you do have to cross a 2-way road) and about a mile from a very popular and delicious beachfront restaurant. The owners provide suggestions for multiple activities within easy driving distance. We drove to the Atlantic side of the cape and are SO glad we stayed here as it is much quieter and we virtually had the beach to ourselves! All in all, we highly recommend this home for a peaceful family getaway.
We arrived from Texas for my daughter’s Coast Guard graduation and everything went great. Erin gave me so much information ahead of time and recommendations on what to do, where to eat, etc. Check-in was so easy and the house was so cozy and clean! Highly recommend especially if coming from out of state. Erin is a wonderful hostess and very accommodating. Loved checking out all the plants and birds in the backyard that we don’t have in our state. It was so peaceful. The house itself very comfortably accommodated the 5 of us and had everything that we needed even with the light packing we did for the flight there. It was also in a very safe, family friendly neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again if we happen to come up this way! It was a wonderful place to stay!
Home away from home!My husband and I had a lovely time. Everything you need is in the home. The bay is a short walk, and places to eat close by. We will definitely be back again.
