Playa Avellanas Beach House • Walk to the Beach

Welcome to our Playa Avellanas Beach House, with 2 large master bedrooms, a spacious guest 3rd bedroom/living and dining area, 2 master bathrooms, and one additional private guest bathroom, on a beautiful, privately gated half-acre property, just a short scenic walk to the gorgeous white-sand beach out front, through the neighboring world-famous mangrove boardwalk.

The spacious guest 3rd bedroom/living and dining area is the largest room in the house and includes a small futon for one additional guest, providing the sleeping space for the seventh guest.

All 3 bedrooms have very comfortable California king-size beds with 1500-count Egyptian cotton sheets, ice-cold air conditioning, ceiling fans, and Smart TVs, with extremely reliable high-speed WiFi throughout.

There is a fully equipped kitchen, a large teak dining table, and plenty of comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces to choose from, including five oversized hammocks to relax in.

We are centrally located, making it an easy walk to a number of great nearby restaurants, bars, cafés, local shops, and two small grocery stores, making a rental car completely unnecessary.

Enjoy our beautiful beaches, incredible sunsets, and all the tropical nature surrounding us, where you will see monkeys, parrots, and lots of other amazing wildlife.

Optional paid extras: Massages, excursions (including charter-boat trips and kayak tours), transportation, surf lessons, and surfboard rentals can be arranged separately, subject to availability, and are not included in the rental price. Access to the neighboring facility’s pool, sauna, and cold plunge is also available for an additional fee, subject to the facility’s availability and rules. There is no pool, sauna, or cold plunge on this property. Boogie boards are included free of charge.

Whether you’re coming for a week, a month, or spending the winter here in Costa Rica, we know you’ll feel completely at home.

The property has two other smaller houses, each completely private and separate, sharing only the gated entrance.

Rates include up to two guests. Additional guests are $5 per person per night, and all overnight guests must be included on the reservation.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location was great. The place was clean and the AC was cold. The walk to the beach was beautiful. The property was incredible. We saw lots of monkeys and parrots. It’s a great destination if you enjoy surfing and beautiful beaches and sunsets.

We had another great stay at the Beach House. The house was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The bedrooms are really spacious and the king beds were very comfortable. We loved the property and the easy walk to Avellanas beach. Great place to relax and enjoy Costa Rica. Ben was very helpful and easy to reach. We would definitely stay here again!

Ben was an amazing host. Playa Avellanas is very rural, and Ben guided us in right to his gate, no problem. Ben is super attentive, and was checking in with us frequently. He saved us a lot of money with his spot on recommendations regarding excursions and restaurants. The boardwalk to the beach, and the beach are amazing. Restaurants in the area - off the charts!

Ben was a fabulous host and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The location of this beach house and the close and convenient beach access is its main selling point for sure. The house itself was a little more rustic than we anticipated but we found it comfortable. Kitchen is very small and has only the most basic supplies but nearby restaurants are exceptional so we didn’t mind. Overall a positive experience. The beach is BEAUTIFUL!!

Great beach getaway!

Loved this place!

This property was fantastic and we absolutely loved our stay here! It was only a 10 minute walk or so to the beach which was stunning. It was homey, clean, secure, filled with wildlife, and let me just say I think I may have taken the best naps of my life on those hammocks. Ben was a fantastic host and even provided private surfing lessons for our kiddos which they absolutely adored. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!

Ben was an amazing host. He wanted our family to have a great vacation and offered his time and local knowledge to make that happen. The house was perfect. It was clean, comfortable and private. The 8-10 minute walk to the beach on the boardwalk through the mangroves was a daily delight. We couldn’t have asked for anything more! Driving back to Maine after our arrival back in Boston, my son asked what everyone’s highlight of the trip was. No one was able to come up with a highlight because the entire trip was exceptional!

Beautiful Location Lovely House

The hammocks were so relaxing with all the nature sounds and birds singing. There were even howler monkeys and scarlett macaws in the yard. The walk to the beach was absolutely gorgeous and the beach was even more stunning. This was all around such a great stay. Can’t say enough nice things.

I loved it

This place was great. Though Avellanas Beach was a short walk from the property, it felt secluded and remote. I could hear howler monkeys in the trees, which was cool. The house was gated and felt safe and had all the amenities we needed for our stay. I would gladly visit again.

Great Costa Rican Getaway

Stayed here with a group of 5. There was plenty of room for us in the house, it didn't feel cramped. The property was nice and secure and the hammocks were great to lounge in. We all felt like the walk to the beach was fine and would consider it the definition of walking distance. Would highly recommend this place for a group looking for an authentic Tico experience.

We absolutely loved our stay here and did not want to leave. The property feels like a private tropical retreat right in the heart of Playa Avellanas. Everything was exactly as described, if not better.The location was perfect — an easy walk to the beach, restaurants, and local shops, yet the property itself felt peaceful, quiet, and secluded behind the gated entrance. We especially loved walking through the mangrove boardwalk to the beach every morning and watching the sunsets in the evenings.The home was incredibly comfortable and spacious. The California king beds were amazing, the AC worked perfectly, and the 1500 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets honestly felt like something from a luxury hotel. Amazing stay at PLAYA AVELLANAS BEACH HOUSE

My family and I had an amazing stay at Playa Avellanas Beach House. Ben is the best!! So thoughtful and truly cares about his guests. We were lucky enough to have him give our three kids surf lessons (all got up on a wave)!! The house is an easy walk to the beach and Ben gets his guests access to the famous board walk through the mangroves. The house is also very close to a number of restaurants and shops yet does not feel touristy at all. My family and I highly recommend staying with Ben and enjoying all the beauty Playa Avellanas has to offer.

Great stay

We had a great trip. The host/owner was on site and immediately responded to any concerns we had. We were there a month, so we became friends. We had several dinners together, and shared rides into tamarindo for groceries, produce, etc. he was great with our boys and their girlfriends, helping them with surf boards and advice. The listing, however,, was not accurate……there was no downhill or cross country skiing.

Relaxing stay

Ben could not have been more helpful or attentive, even providing additional details and tips prior to our arrival. He was there to greet us, but his presence was overshadowed by the group of howler monkeys on the property - what a thrill! The house was spacious enough for the 4 of us, the stunning beach was a short walk away, and the local fare was delicious and affordable. The area was quiet enough that we were able to relax in the hammocks. All in all, a fantastic way to end our Costa Rica trip!

Very Spacious, Comfortable, & Walk to Beach!

Ben is an excellent host. He stayed in touch with me the whole time we stayed there to make sure everything was great. His property is amazing. Very comfortable, spacious and waking distance to Lola's and all the surf spots for us. Also 10 mins drive to Playa Negra. Big beds, AC in all rooms, Netflix, hot water and even had Apple TV. Lots of hammocks outside to relax. I highly recommend this place. Pura Vida to the max!

The property is located just across from a great surf spot. However, there is a bit of a walk through a beautiful Mangrove boardwalk to get there. Just down the road, there's more accessible surf spots that you can drive right up to. The property felt very safe with a gate that was always locked. The house was very spacious and had three king size beds with each bedroom having its own air conditioning and bathroom. The house is a bit dark but I know that Ben is planning to install more lighting. The hot water was a bit hit or miss but honestly given the heat, cold showers felt totally fine. Ben is super responsive and friendly. He's very willing to provide advice for spots to visit around the area. The listing does say that there is washer and dryer but the washer is a bit primitive and you just dry your clothes on the clothesline which was fine as it dried very quickly given the heat. Overall a great stay for our family.

Thank you so much for visiting us. It was such a real pleasure and honor having you and your lovely family. This is your home away from home here in paradise. Also, thank you so much for your feedback as we find it so very helpful. We did have some electrical issues that were since addressed, as we just replaced some breakers and infrastructure, that were effecting our electric water heater. There were also a couple light bulbs that we replaced along with a light switch that was fixed. Our cleaning ladies do prefer the Costa Rican style washing machines as they get clothes and sheets much cleaner. Also we do dry in the sun on the line as much as possible, especially this time of year, as it makes laundry turn out so much better, and our staff is available to assist with laundry anytime. Thank you again so much. We so greatly appreciate you.
