About this property
Cozy Winter Sanctuary with Hot Tub & River Access
Escape to Wild Pine Sanctuary — a private riverside retreat with cozy cabin, hot tub, and forest trails. Enjoy massage, Reiki, sound therapy, Ayurvedic consults, fresh eggs and farm-to-table meals, craft nights, and horseback riding. Snowshoe or ski in winter, forage and hike in summer. Fish year-round. Every stay supports our 501(c)(3) horse rescue and wellness nonprofit. Rest, recharge, and reconnect with the rhythm of nature.
The space
Nestled along the river beneath Colorado’s wide-open skies, Wild Pine Sanctuary is a private haven for rest, reconnection, and quiet magic.
This peaceful retreat offers guests the rare chance to experience life in rhythm with the land — where the air smells of pine and snow, rescued horses graze in open pastures, and the only sounds are the rustle of trees and the hum of nature’s heartbeat.
Whether blanketed in snow or blooming with wildflowers, the Wild Pine Cabin offers a deeply restorative escape year-round. The cabin features cozy interiors with a wood-burning fireplace, a private hot tub overlooking the river, and a thoughtfully curated atmosphere that shifts with the seasons. Each season brings new life and beauty to the property — along with décor to match. From a 12-foot Christmas tree and twinkling winter lights to spring blooms, summer solstice gatherings, and autumn harvest charm, every stay feels like its own story.
During your visit, you can choose from a variety of wellness experiences right on site — including massage, Reiki, sound therapy, Ayurvedic and herbal consultations, tarot readings, and craft gatherings. Guests are also invited to enjoy fresh eggs from our year-round flock of ducks and chickens, local farm-to-table dining options, and riverfront relaxation.
Seasonal Offerings
Winter (Mid-November – April)
The horses spend their winters on warm pastures nearby, and the sanctuary transforms into a magical winter wonderland. Picture yourself snowshoeing through quiet pine groves, cross-country skiing the backcountry trails, or curling up fireside as snow falls softly outside the windows. Aspen, Glenwood Springs, and the Grand Mesa ski resorts are each within 1.5 hours — perfect for day trips before returning to your cozy, glowing cabin. The decks and driveway are plowed throughout your stay, with firewood stacked and ready for your evening fires.
Spring (May – June)
As the snow melts and the river swells, the sanctuary bursts to life with birdsong and wildflowers. The horses return home, inviting opportunities for guided horseback rides, equine-assisted learning, and mindful trail experiences. Enjoy yoga by the river, foraging walks, or a sunrise meditation with the herd.
Summer (July – September)
Long golden days and starlit nights invite full immersion in nature. Swim or float in the river, explore nearby hot springs, hike through aspen forests, or relax in the hammock with a good book. Our riverside glamping options open for the season, offering a peaceful way to connect with the land under a canopy of stars.
Autumn (October – Mid-November)
Crisp air, amber leaves, and the scent of woodsmoke fill the valley. Ride through the changing colors, book a massage or Reiki session in the cabin, or enjoy cozy evenings around the fire pit. Fall brings a perfect blend of adventure and stillness — ideal for writing, reflecting, or simply slowing down.
A Sanctuary for the Soul
At Wild Pine, we believe in the healing power of animals, nature, and stillness. Every stay supports our 501(c)(3) nonprofit sister organization, Dare to Dream Equine, which rescues and rehabilitates horses who in turn help heal people. Whether you come to adventure, to rest, or to remember yourself, you’ll leave carrying a little piece of the sanctuary’s quiet magic with you.
Our onsite caretakers live quietly in the ADU year-round, tending to the animals, plowing the drive, and assisting with wellness services as needed—so you can relax, knowing you’re cared for while still enjoying full privacy.
Come as you are. Let the river, the firelight, and the stillness of the snow restore you. Leave grounded, inspired, and deeply renewed.
Guest access
Guests have full access to the entire property during their stay. Wander along the river, soak in the hot tubs, dip into the cold plunge pools, or relax by the fire pit under the stars. You're welcome to say hello to the animals, hike the many trails surrounding us, and forage seasonal plants like rose hips, lilacs, hawthorn berries, mullein, milk thistle, and willow branches for weaving. This space is yours to explore, rest, and reconnect.

About the host
Hosted by Katherine Collins
Hi! I’m Kat, and creating Wild Pine has been a dream born from years of both love and healing. I wanted to build more than a retreat space — I wanted to create a true sanctuary where the land, the animals, and the people all work together to restore balance and bring peace.
I come from a background in veterinary medicine and holistic healing, and my deepest joy is watching people and animals find connection, grounding, and a sense of home here. Whether you’re visiting to rest, explore, or reconnect, I hope you feel the magic of this place — it has a way of giving exactly what’s needed to everyone who steps onto it.

Why they chose this property
This place is pure magic — a true Colorado oasis. Tucked away in the mountains yet central to all the ski towns you could want to explore, it offers the perfect mix of adventure and stillness.
The land itself called me here. I spent months meditating on where to build a space for healing and connection, and when I found this property, it felt too good to be true. Later I realized it had been waiting for me all along. This land called me home — and now, I’m so grateful to share its peace and beauty with others.

What makes this property unique
This is where the pines begin to soar, where the eagles and bear choose to live, and where silence and wild adventure meet. The land hums with life — wildflowers, ancient trees, and mountain winds that seem to carry stories of the ones who came before.
Guests can wander through trails that weave between forest and meadow, forage for wild herbs and berries, or simply sit in stillness and listen to the quiet rhythm of nature. Every inch of this space holds intention — from the cozy cabin details to the way the sun filters through the trees.
It’s not just a place to stay; it’s a place to remember what it feels like to belong to the earth again.
