About this property

Ben's Quarters - Glamping Tent - In the Heart of Paonia's Wine Country

King size bed in a tent? Oh, yea, along with leather furniture, cowhide rug and romantic candles. And all, in the heart of Paonia's Wine Country. Uncredible views will greet you at sunrise. The Milky Way will put you to bed at night. A zillion stars will watch over your sleep. Night breezes will rustle the tent to remind you that nature is very close by.
A few steps away you will find an old, repurposed grain bin with two full-service bathrooms, showers included. While the decor is rustic and masculine the cleanliness is very feminine. Because the bathrooms are shared spaces, we take cleaning of the bathrooms very serious.
Many guests use Fort Austin as a hub for their activities. Within 2 minutes' drive are 5 wineries, Big Bs, downtown Paonia, Paonia Town Park and Paonia River Park. Within an hour's drive you will find Black Canyon National Park, Crested Butte, Kebler Pass, Grand Mesa, Marble, Overland Reservoir, Horsefly Brewing Company, Pleasure Park, fishing, hunting, hiking, climbing, and a plethora of other outdoor activities. Within 2 hour's drive you might visit Telluride, Aspen, Gunnison, Gateway Canyons, Glenwood Springs or Blue Mesa Reservoir.
Your host loves interacting with guests who enjoy great conversation, micro brews, cigars or morning coffee. But at Fort Austin, you do you. If you want peace and quiet, you will be left alone. Many guests come to Fort Austin to work. Our 2G/5G wireless network seems to provide adequate signal for Zoom meetings or streaming video. But please realize, your host is a technotard, but usually able to figure it out.
Friendly pets are welcome at Fort Austin. Our insurance company does not allow vicious dogs, pit bulls, dobermans, german shepards, wolf hybrids or rottweilers. But your host will be happy to refer a local kennel that will take pups on short notice.
Tim purchased this property in 2014 and proceeded to clean it up, remodel the lodge, build the noise wall, construct the tents, build the cabins, complete the infrastructure and open it up to wonderful people. Nearly all of our guests are people who love the land, love the country, love the opportunities, love their fellow man and respect everyone they come in contact with. This place was built for you, our honored guests.
At Fort Austin you will find ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen.

Beautiful place to get away to!
What a beautiful property with forever views. Clean, high end tent glamping. Bathhouse is awesome, clean, well stocked, unique is an understatement. Tim (and PJ) was an excellent host, friendly and informative. Can't wait to return and test drive a cabin next time!
