Things happen, I understand; but after receiving a check in confirmation, payment in full and the door code, someone not listed as the host contacted me off of the VRBO app with less than 2 hrs notice that the people in the property I booked could not check out and that I had no choice to accept an "alternate" property. I have no way of verifying, but the way it was all communicated was very unusual, to say the least as I am now reading this happens frequently. The documented "host" all of a sudden was unavailable for the entire stay even though he was also listed as the host for the "alternate" property and he certainly was available up until the time I was notified that my paid reservation would not be honored. I did receive a partial refund at my request and let the matter go, but the entire experience was very odd to say the least.
