This is a wonderful rental perfect for a family stay. It is clean and cheery. The hosts did a great job of communicating and of providing all that is needed for your stay. We would recommend this to anyone and would definitely stay again!
Property was very nice and functional. Kids had a great time playing games inside/ outside and on the Wii. Plenty of room for a larger group and was well stocked with all the essentials. Thanks for a great stay!
This home had everything we needed. Spacious kitchen, living and all season rooms!! Bunk room was perfect for the kids. Everyone raved how comfortable the beds were. The boat and lake were a great time. I would highly recommend the Nutt House!!
The property was perfect for our family trip. The house was well stocked and had enough beds to accommodate our whole family. The air condition was an added plus we rented a boat and we were able to use the boat dock, which was perfect. The host Jim was very responsive! We would definitely stay there again!
Our stay here was great! The views of the lake are great from inside and outside. Lots of comfortable space. It had everything we needed. It's close to restaurants and grocery stores. The beach area was a hit with our grandson. We really appreciated being able to use the boat dock and lift for our boat, it made it so convenient to cruise around the lake whenever we wanted. Having the kayaks to use was a plus too. Definitely 10 out of 10!
We had a wonderful time! The cottage had everything we needed and more. Our hosts were accommodating and friendly, even suggesting some favorite restaurants and other places they thought we would enjoy. We highly recommend this rental for a relaxing and peaceful getaway.
We spent an extended weekend at this rental property. Beautiful and quiet place. Renting the boat was a plus, kids enjoyed the sunsets from the middle of the lake. House was equipped with everything that was needed, kitchen stocked. We book in the very last minute and Jim was very accomodating. Thank you.
So much fun at this place!!! House is supplied with all the essentials you need for fun and relaxing. Lake is beautiful and that outdoor 2 level deck is the best!!!
The stay was exactly what our friends and us needed. Everything went smoothly once we got there, and the listing included very accurate information compared to how the cottage actually was/what it included. Jim was great and communicated punctually. I recommend renting the boat! It was great to get on the water and take a ride or chill at the sandbar. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip!
It really is a great property for a weekend away with friends and family!
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday weekend on Hess Lake and in particular, our stay at this property.
The home was better than described and the owners provided nearly everything one could ask for, with all the comforts of home.
It felt like friends were welcoming my family into their cottage, as opposed to being a sterile, bare bones rental.
Communication with the owner was very good before, during and after our stay. I tend to overthink things, and Jim was very helpful and clear in providing answers.
There was plenty of functional space for all ages to gather, eat, relax, and sleep.
We loved all the windows (and the lake breeze) and the way the home is designed to take advantage of nature on the exterior, while being comfortably updated on the interior.
There were more amenities than we expected, so we were pleasantly surprised and appreciated the thoughtful nature of the host family.
It was clean and fresh, and the beds are remarkably comfortable.
I would be happy to return to this property in the future and highly recommend it for families looking for a comfortable place to enjoy Hess Lake.
This home is a prefect get away! The location of this property, right on Hess Lake, is simply unbeatable. It offers a perfect blend of tranquility and convenience. The peaceful surroundings made it feel like a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, yet it is just a short drive away from local shops in Newaygo.
The panoramic views of the lake were nothing short of mesmerizing. Whether we were sipping our morning coffee on the spacious deck or enjoying a cozy evening around the camp fire, the scenery provided a constant backdrop of natural beauty. The sunsets were particularly unforgettable, casting a warm glow over the water that left us in awe.
This home is a haven for those seeking ample space and comfort. There is a generous living area that allowed our group to spread out and relax. With multiple bedrooms and sleeping areas, everyone in our party had their own private space. All the beds are queen sized and cozy. The kids bedroom, with 4 queen sized beds, was a standout feature. It has everything for the kids to game and and entertain themselves for hours. I also appreciated the vanity in the master bedroom as it provided a separate area to get ready for the day.
I would highly recommend this rental for a family looking to relax have fun on the lake!

About the host

Rene' and I native to the West Michigan area and enjoy the all the wonderful seasons we have here. We are the proud parents of 3 boys who's schedules make it difficult to get to our "happy place", so hoping to share it with you.
Why they chose this property
We love Hess Lake because it feels like up north, but is still close to everything. Great local stores are minutes away and Grand Rapids is only about 45 minutes away. The lake has two sandbars when we feel social and an on-lake restaurant if we didn't take anything out for dinner.
What makes this property unique
The cottage has both large spaces for groups to gather and smaller spaces for those that needs some space away. Whether your preference is sun or shade, you can always find both at the shore.
According to records, our property was originally called Dadd's Inn and it has been rumored that Al Capone would stay at Dadd's Inn
