The property is in GISELA, AZ. Other than that it was a great place to stay. We needed to be in the city limits of Payson and it is not. That was my fault for not reading all the way through the listing. Beautiful property, everything you need to enjoy time away from home. We did not have dogs but it is set up beautifully for your dogs if you take them with you.
Had a wonderful time. The house is adorable and Jill was wonderful to deal with. The house was clean. The yard was great. Definitely family and pet friendly

Elyssa and guest were great! They were very respectful and left everything neat and clean. Would welcome back anytime 😊
Wow. We had so many things destroyed and just ruined during your stay. Hosts beware. We reached out and asked for reimbursement for the things damaged and the requests are just ignored. You dumped several of the things you broke into a large vase on the side of our home. I guess that is where you thought people put the things they break during their stay? Own up.
The cooler weather made this stay quite beautiful. The night sky away from the city.Pollution is a sight to see and the cabin is very cozy. The host was responsive and very kind. The mornings are filled with the sound of farmwork and the neighborhood dogs. Everyone waves as they pass each other and I really enjoy this place. Definitely will return.

Jason was a great guest. Very respectful of our property and left it in neat and clean order. Would rent to him again any day :)
The house is a very nice property in a very quite location. Even though Vrbo has it in Payson, the property owner reached out to make sure we knew it was 15 miles south of Payson. We highly recommend this property.
I am SO glad you enjoyed yourselves Lawrence! Ya all were super neat, clean, and respectful. I truly appreciate sharing my home with people like you and your family. And dogs. Enjoy 10% on your next visit :)
Took my dogs up over new years for some well needed rest and relaxation and we had a blast . The dogs played so hard in the nice fenced in yard and the neighborhood was quiet and we had visits from the cows that were roaming around .jill was great . Thank you Jill we will be back soon!

This was my first stay with vrbo and it set the standard high! The host was amazing and communicated through everything. Location was great, about 20 minutes outside of town. Easy access to everything yet private and comfortable!

It is guests like Dravon that make opening up your home rewarding. Great communicator. Ideal guest. :)
The cottage and location where great. I came out with my two kids ages 5 & 6 and to my surprise I saw many children around the age of my boys which made us feel a lot more comfortable. The cottage is located about 25 mins below Payson, but I didnt mind the drive since the scenery is beautiful. The host was accommodating and made sure our check in and stay went smoothly.

Jennifer and kids were great guests. Took care of the place. Left it neat and clean. Would have them again any time! 😀
Home decor was well done, remote location, only recommended updates would be to provide accurate address in Vrbo and upgrade mattress in one bedroom

Glad you enjoyed yourself. I sent you a message within hours of you booking letting you know my exact location so there wouldn't be any confusion and so there would not be complaining about where I am. ?? Both mattresses are less than 2 years old. One is softer. One is firmer. Which one are you referring to? Good guests other than just a few house rules not followed and a lack of communication.
Our stay was exactly what me and my husband needed to relax and disconnect with our dogs. The neighbors and local business was very friendly.
The directions and overall checkin process was very helpful and easy to follow. .
Would definetely consider staying again.

Lovely House
The home was very clean and very well equipped. There was not one thing we needed that wasn't there. The property was lovely and we enjoyed the cooler weather.
Only downside was website says it is half mile from Payson. It is more like 16 miles from downtown (5 miles of curvy road) which prevented trips to town in the dark. We did have a very relaxing week.

There is a Sycamore Street, Sycamore Creek, and a Sycamore Lane in Payson. I have had issues in the past with this, which is why I send EXACT directions of where I am right after a reservation is made, within 24 hours, so it is clear, and the guest can keep the reservation, or cancel it. I see you made the reservation in the evening of June 20th, and I sent you those exact directions to my home the following morning. So it's a bit surprising to see you deducted a star for me due to the proximity to town when you were notified of it. ??
A beautiful little gem outside of Payson. We were looking for remote place to let our dog run loose and this for the bill! Only complaint is the back fence is not secure so our pup did get out once. The house it's self is extremely cozy. It's the yard and porch that make this place special because they are beautiful! If you're looking for a place to get some R &R outdoors this is the place for you!

Hi Christopher. You and your wife were great guests. My only complaint would be the propane tank was left open. I just filled it a few hours before you checked in. It may not have leaked out though. I apologize for the fence that is up. My neighbor just put that temporary fence up and I am sorry it was not strong enough to keep your dog in. It is up for just this week. 90% of my guests are guests who bring their dogs. I promise, it will be secure again.
This is the worst advertised property I’ve ever seen, the address says Payson but it isn’t in Payson. Wouldn’t recommend if wanting to stay in Payson, also won’t be using Vrbo anymore as they allow this kind of misdirection and false advertisement of location.

If I could attach something here I would attach a screenshot showing that you called me the day of your reservation at 11:15 in the morning. You told me you knew exactly where the location was and that you were going to be at a lake all day and that you were excited to come. I told you you could check in early if you wamted, (check-in is at 3:30) and you said you would be at the lake all day. Me and some friends were up there Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday last week and none of us wanted to come back to the valley. We were bummed there was a reservation. At 7:40 you tell me you are unable to find the place and that you want a refund. You called me 13 times. I felt harassed and thought perhaps you were intoxicated. No one has ever had a problem finding my place with those directions that could not possibly be more specific. And then you say you want a refund because it's not located where you thought it was? You're getting caught in lies here and what I hear is someone that changed their mind, just wanted to go home, and wanted their money back and saying anything they could think of. The hosts/owners of these places work really hard and I try to ignore behavior like this because it's not fair to the others who enjoy it. 🤔 Word out to other HOSTS.
The property is not in Payson, it's 30 minutes from Payson false advertising. The neighbor works from home Welder, so a generator and banging all day long. Not peaceful at all

Went out of our way to make it clear exactly where we are located. You were good with it. We kept trying to communicate with you but got nothing. The reviews both before you and after you wrote how it's very peaceful and quiet. Clearly you're just one of those people who go out of their way to find faults with other people's things. Needless to say, you are not welcome back. Look out Hosts! People like this are the reason we don't want to rent our homes out any longer.
We try to get away from our home over the 4th, due to excessive fireworks and a dog that does not like them. We thought we were headed to Payson, but as it turned out our get away was in Gisela. A small community 13 miles south of Payson. The home is welcoming and comfortable and has everything you need. Roosters crowing every morning when we stepped outside; bull frogs every evening. It was so peaceful I was ready to move. Fenced yard for our small dogs and seating available when outside. There was nothing you could ask for if you are looking for relaxing place from your hectic life.

Thank you. Gisela is a small community, like Ahwatukee, that no one has heard of. My actual address is in Payson, like Ahwatukee is in Phoenix. I have been going up north for over 30 years and have passed this little town a thousand times. I have never even heard of it. So because my address is literally in Payson, AZ 85541, that is how it is listed. Therefore I don't list it like that due to no one knowing what or where it is. My friend who rents her place in Ahwatukee lists it in Phoenix, because that is actually where it is located. I am glad you enjoyed your stay.
The property is extremely misrepresented. The property is not in Payson, AZ as indicated on the VERBO site. The physical address is actually in Gisela, AZ. 11 miles south of Payson to Rye, AZ and approximately 5 miles in the country from Rye, AZ. There were some basic needs (heating/plumbing) issues. When the host was contacted she was minimally helpful, giving the impression she knew of the issues but chose to be a bit argumentative about them. Phone reception was very sketchy.
As a result of the issues, we left before our check out date.

I apologize you were misrepresented with the address VRBO provides, as well as the directions I gave you. I am sorry you had a hard time holding the thermostat button down, but that does not make an "issue with the heating", as you stated. There also is no plumbing problems. It is all new plumbing put in last May. You told me the sink was slow/clogging, so I called my neighbor, who does handy man work. He came over. I don't know what you expected me to do? :( I was in the valley. I have Cricket and my phone reception is great. I work up there so that would be a problem if it didn't. As a result of not wanting to wait for someone that was heading over to fix any issues, you left early. If something goes wrong, which things go wrong to everyone all of the time, you should allow the issue to be fixed, rather than leaving and then saying fictitious things like heating/plumbing issues. I worked hard and tried to make it perfect for you. I hope you enjoyed your gift basket.
Finding this place for me to DE-stress & get some much needed respite was a great mistake of sorts. I waited too long to find something really close to Christopher Creek as my husband attending Camp Brain close by.
As it turns out, I was close enough. On top of that my experience with the host and stay at this cottage was one of the best I've had in a long time. Detailed directions to get to the property, full kitchen, comfortable bed, charming tiny community, watching the horses play from the couch, binge watching some Netflix, gorgeous morning on the patio, perfect writing table the kitchen table made, & I could go on. Sadly, I didn't make it down to the river but I'm pretty sure my husband & I will be back for some additional quiet time.
If you want to relax but still desire to be relatively close (Payson/Pine is maybe 20/30 minutes one way & Roosevelt Lake is about 25 minutes the other way) & have all the home comforts & technology of being in a city- this is your place.

Great House/Inaccurate Location
The house is lovely and provides for a very comfortable stay. The host has gone above and beyond to make it enjoyable and uplifting to stay there. She leaves many handwritten notes, has provided comfortable furnishings and a well stocked kitchen with quality appliances. (I like to cook when I'm on the road) The front porch is large and so welcoming. It provides for many different seating arrangements. The location descriptors in the VRBO listing are inaccurate. It states the house is 0.3 miles from Payson Center, 6 min walk to the hospital and 3-4 minute drive to most restaurants, etc. All of that is incorrect. The house is actually in Gisela a 30 minute drive from Payson. We didn't get the actual address and directions until the day before we traveled so it was too late to get a full refund (the host did offer a 50% refund) and it was too late to try and book another house. We come to Payson often to visit our son's family and be involved in their daily activities. The location of the house complicated that greatly. I did reach out to VRBO to correct the listing.

I have had over 80 guests in the past year and a half. kim is the second guest to complain about the location. If she had read my Property Description with total details as to exactly where I am, even with detailed directions, this would have been avoided. I can't imagine going to rent a home and not reading about it. ?? Sorry for the inconvenience Kim.
We enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and wide open space (no neighbors breathing down your neck). You can tell Jill takes pride in ownership. We loved spending mornings and evening on the large, open porch which had a propane fire pit/place. We went for walks through the 'neighborhood' in the mornings and evenings. Lots of dogs, some unleashed, which has nothing to do with Jill, but just a consideration for anyone afraid of dogs. Hiking was close by, which is why we stayed near Payson. Jill emailed me after I booked the property to ensure that I was aware that this was not in the city of Payson. That was nice. She stated it was about 10 miles from Payson. We did not know it was winding roads with switch backs and that 10 miles takes about 15-20 minutes to drive. It IS beautiful country, not complaining, but planning was a must so that we didn't have to take that drive multiple times. I did not know that the listing was a mobile home either. I just think that might be something to add to the listing instead of "cottage". Overall, it was quiet as advertised, and you could certainly destress. Jill was quick to respond to any questions. Check-in and check-out were easy. If your vibe is to escape and and chill at the property for your vacation, this is a great spot.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. For the most part. It's not a mobile home. Cottage is the best description for it.
Upon arriving to the property we found that the place was cute and quaint. The patio was warm and inviting with a lot of shade from nearby trees to allow us to remain cool even in the sun. Plenty of seating and different varieties of seats to enjoy the patio in any way you choose. There are a few games on the property to enjoy. The 5 foot fence surrounding the property was very secure which allowed our hyper activw black mouth cur the ability to run play and unleash all of his zoomies with no worries about his safety. The interior of the house had two very cosy and well decorated rooms. Living room had all the amenities needed to enjoy yourself including games to play. Kitchen was well equipped for any cooking needs as well as a wonderful farm sink that we wanted to take with us but couldn't obviously. Bathroom was lovely well equipped and even had a first aid kit available in case we needed it. The night skies were absolutely amazing and we were able to use our telescope in order to enjoy it. All in all the property was amazing, and all around the free-roaming animals added some extra interest for us and our pup. The random hummingbirds were a fun treat as well. All of our needs were met, and it was a wonderful birthday vacation. Property owner was very responsive and answered questions in a very timely manner. We will definitely be returning. Skooby Doo says thank you dooby doo!

About the host
Your host
I am from Chicago originally and have lived in the valley, but have been going north of the valley since I was 21. I started with a small trailer, then a bigger trailer, then a bigger trailer, and finally a home! I am up there in between guests. I love it! So peaceful. So safe. Everyone waves as they pass and greets you when they walk by if they see you. My fit watch goes from a stress level of 33-42, to 13-19. Seriously. :)
Why they chose this property
BEAUTIFUL drive from freeway to home with pull-off spots to observe and take pictures! The town is quiet and remote. No sirens. No loud cars. No pollution. No house parties with loud music are allowed. No illegal drugs. No smoking allowed inside or on porch. We have respect for our little town and they have the same respect. NO fires please. Danger to all. The yards are very large all around mine with NO close neighbors, so there IS much privacy and space in between. Small town with good morals! 15 mph roads please. Now get out there and have the FUN!
What makes this property unique
Peace. Serene. Fresh. Friendly. Safe. River. ATVing. Walking. Hiking. Beautiful views surrounding of mountains and horses. :)
