The whole experience was great! Michele was so responsive and attentive from the time we booked until the time we left. Her place was phenomenal and had absolutely everything we could have needed. Would 100% go back again if I ever need to VRBO in the area again.
They have everything you could need, we really enjoyed the patio and watching wildlife on the lake. Getting into the house was easy with the instructions provided
I was traveling alone, but if i had brought my 6 grand kids it would have still been very comfortable! close to big rapids and the lake was beautiful, I only wish I had come when i could have gone fishing it looked perfect for fishing!!!

This little house is a gem! We were a group of 7 adults- my husband & I, our 3 grown kids, & 2 of their others. There were just enough beds & we had ample space to move around. The house is very clean & well-stocked. The surrounding area is beautiful, peaceful, & quiet. We would love to return one day!
Lakeview Cottage was clean, the yard was spacious. They really tried to make it kid friendly. They worked hard to meet the needs of their guests. They offered kayaks, paddle boat and a dock that would probably be good to fish off of if it wasn't during a drought. Michele was very easy to get in touch with and replied to emails promptly.
Though there is a lot of traffic on the street, it still was peaceful and quiet, people were friendly. The cottage is still getting renovated but it didn't detract from its comfortableness. She had all needs provided--toaster, pots pans, dishes, some games, etc. If I had to make any suggestions, it would be to have more kid books and games inside.
There wasn't a good place to play in water, no beach, but we still had a good time.
Overall, it was a great place to stay and would definitely go again.
Our family has had a cottage on Chippewa for over 80 years. This year we planned a family reunion and needed more space to spread out. This cottage was perfect! When we found this cottage the information mentioned there were renovations happening which made the price unbeatable. I’m not sure what else you are renovating but this cottage is absolutely adorable as it is now. Very cozy with all the nice touches we love when renting a home away from home. It’s the little things like dish soap, coffee, sugar, a coffee pot with a filter, nice towels, soap/shampoo, super comfy beds and pillows that make or break a rental property. This place hit every one of these and more. Even though the cottage is second row from the lake, it has an amazing view of the lake from the large sliding door and patio. Which made for great mornings to sit and sip coffee and enjoy the view. Also, the owner was ver responsive with very prompt replies to all of our questions. We are going to keep an eye out for your 2024 prices and available dates and hope to return again.

About the host

We have always dreamed of owning our own lake house. We enjoy boating, fishing and relaxing by the fire at night. However, it is always work first and play later. It seems we always have a long list of projects. It might take us a while to complete our tasks, but it is such a feeling of satisfaction when we can check off another item on our to do list.
Why they chose this property
We were looking for a property on a bigger body of water that was close enough drive to without spending too much time on the road. We had been looking for a couple of years and it was not easy to find what we were looking for at a decent price that didn't sell the next day. I saw the listing for Overlook Lakehouse and it was on the market for a while, so we put in an offer. I was originally told it was under contract, so our offer was not accepted. A few days later the realtor called and said it was back on the market. We put in our offer and after some negotiating the offer was accepted.
What makes this property unique
Even though the property is not on the water, there is a view of the lake from every window. The right of way for the lake is kiddy corner across the street allowing for easy access to the lake via kayaks. The property has a lot of history of founders and early developers of the lake. There are remnants of the old well and other structures on the property. We often find little hidden treasures when we are working on our projects.
