About this property

The Hostel @ Hideaway Point

Tucked into the forest yet conveniently located, The Hostel at Hideaway Point offers a private mountain retreat in the heart of the Nantahala Gorge — just 10 minutes from the charming mountain town of Bryson City. This unique group-friendly vacation rental is ideal for families, retreats, reunions, and large gatherings looking for space, comfort, and access to Western North Carolina’s best outdoor adventures.

We created Hideaway Point as a place where people can slow down, reconnect, and enjoy meaningful time together in the mountains. Whether you are gathering with family, celebrating with friends, planning a retreat, or simply getting away, we hope this property gives you space to rest, explore, and make lasting memories.

Bryson City is known for whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River, hiking in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, mountain biking, scenic train rides on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, Fontana Lake, waterfalls, fly fishing, and local breweries and restaurants.

This listing is specifically for The Hostel — one of four separate VRBO listings available at Hideaway Point. Guests can rent:
• The Hostel
• The Hideout
• The Holiday House
• Or the full Hideaway Point property, which combines all three homes for large groups, retreats, reunions, and small weddings.

The Hostel is designed for groups who want to stay together while still having privacy. It features four private en-suite bedrooms, each with its own exterior entrance, making it a great setup for multiple families, friend groups, or retreat guests.

At the center of the home is an open-concept common area with a full kitchen, dining space, and comfortable seating areas designed for gathering, conversation, and shared meals. Just outside, guests can enjoy a covered patio surrounded by forest and a private hot tub perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the mountains.

The Hostel is one of three homes located on the Hideaway Point property, along with The Hideout and The Holiday House. The homes are thoughtfully spaced for privacy while still sharing the peaceful atmosphere of the property.

Our onsite groundskeeper, Sarah, lives in a private apartment attached to The Holiday House. She helps care for the property year-round and is a great local resource for guests. Sarah shares the property with two friendly Labrador retrievers and a few interesting aquarium pets.

A few helpful things to note:

• Easy year-round access via a maintained gravel road
• Ample onsite parking for groups
• Private exterior entrances for each bedroom
• Fully equipped kitchen for group meals
• Hot tub and covered outdoor gathering space

We would love to answer any questions about The Hostel or help you plan your stay at Hideaway Point.

So relaxing

We usually take a group trip to Gatlinburg at the end of February and wanted to go somewhere different this year. We enjoyed the outside area so much. It was so relaxing to sit by the fire pit and just chill. The decor was so bright and welcoming. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very spacious and clean. I feel in love with the towels and wash cloths. Very high end quality.

Polar Express

Wonderful space with everything you need. It was nice to be able to go to your separate spaces when needed. My only thing is that the floors in the common area are concrete- not a criticism- but we have a 10 month only and it made me nervous when she was trying to waddle around. Just an FYI. We had a great time and very happy with our stay.

Great Property!

I highly recommend the Hostel at Hideaway Point for any group looking for a clean, easy check-in, relaxing stay in the mountains. My family and I had a wonderful time and cannot say enough good things about the property. My favorite part was that every room had code access, so there was no worrying about leaving, hiding, or finding keys. So easy. Also, each space has its own AC unit, so each room can be tempered to the person staying there, so convenient. The property is a bit tricky to find the first time (especially at night, ha) but Lisa's instructions, if you read them carefully, are spot on. Thanks again for having us!

We’re a family-owned team who believes meaningful places can create space for transformation. We created Hideaway Point as a place where people can slow down, reconnect with one another, experience the beauty of the mountains, and step away from the distractions of everyday life.

Whether you come for adventure in the Nantahala Gorge, a retreat, a wedding celebration, or a family gathering, our hope is that your time here leads to deeper connection, meaningful conversations, renewed perspective, and memories that stay with you long after you leave.

We care deeply about hospitality and creating an environment where people feel welcomed, rested, and fully present. Our onsite groundskeeper, Sarah, helps care for the property and is available to support guests if anything comes up during your stay or if you need assistance during your visit.

We aim to give guests both privacy and support—Sarah, our onsite groundskeeper, is nearby if needed while still respecting your space.

More than simply providing lodging, our vision for Hideaway Point is to create a place where people can experience rest, adventure, connection, and lasting transformation together.

Why they chose this property

This area is a rare combination of natural beauty, adventure, and peace. The Nantahala Gorge has a way of slowing people down while still offering endless ways to explore—rivers, mountains, forests, and small-town charm all in one place.

From the beginning, we were drawn to how easy it is for people to gather here, step outside, and immediately be immersed in nature. It felt like the kind of place where meaningful time together happens naturally.

What makes this property unique

Hideaway Point is ideal for adventure seekers and nature lovers looking to experience the very best of Western North Carolina. Tucked into the Nantahala Gorge near the quaint mountain town of Bryson City, the property sits at the heart of one of the Southeast’s most iconic outdoor playgrounds.

Bryson City is known for its small-town charm, local restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, and easy access to outdoor adventure. It’s the kind of town where you can spend the morning hiking or rafting and the evening walking downtown for ice cream, live music, or a relaxed dinner with mountain views.

Just minutes away, guests can experience whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Nantahala River, a scenic stretch of clear, mountain-fed water known for its fun, family-friendly rapids. The same area offers guided zipline canopy tours high above the gorge, mountain biking trails, and endless opportunities for hiking through the surrounding Nantahala National Forest.

Beyond the river, the region opens up into lakes, waterfalls, and mountain overlooks perfect for swimming, fly-fishing, paddle boarding, or simply slowing down in nature. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is also within easy reach, offering miles of hiking trails, wildlife viewing, and some of the most photographed scenery in the United States.

Whether guests are looking for adrenaline-filled days on the river, peaceful mornings in the forest, or a mix of both, Hideaway Point offers a rare balance—secluded mountain privacy with immediate access to rafting, ziplining, biking, fishing, and countless other outdoor adventures.
