About this property
Historic 1810 Captain Burrows Home~ A Nautical New England Inspiration!
Ay Ay, captain! Stay in an antique home with an authentic seafaring history!
Captain Burrows was a descendant of one of Mystic’s founding families. He set sail on his maritime adventures as a cabin boy on a whaling voyage, after which he forged a distinguished career as an officer, working on the steamships that ferried passengers from Liverpool, England, to New York and Galveston.
Capt. Burrows' home dates back to circa 1810 and is brimming with nautical character and New England charm. Just imagine the captain bringing goods back from his ship to this very house, sneaking them in through the cellar door to sell to the shipyards that once sat in Mystic Seaport!
Just a 10-min walk to downtown Mystic and with delightful water views of Tuft’s Cove, Captain Burrows Home is perfect for family and friend gatherings, sleeping 6-7 guests in 3 super comfortable bedrooms!

My family of 5 loved our stay at the Captain Burrows home. It was exactly as pictured. Our host was wonderful, the property was immaculate and well-stocked. We could walk to town and were happy to be able to use the grill for burgers to help keep eating out costs down. We would not hesitate to return to the Captain Burrows house if we return to Mystic.

Our family of 4 adults enjoyed our three night stay over Thanksgiving. The location was perfect, a 10 minute walk into town, including the well-known bakery Sift, and a peaceful view of the water. The 1810 house was in nice condition and contained interesting folk art items that fit well with its history and seaside location. Everything we needed was provided.

About the host
Hosted by Debbie and Paul Bied
A once devoted full-time mother, I’ve now embarked on a fresh voyage – opening the doors of our storied properties to kindred spirits from near and distant shores.
Our shared passion is uncovering historic gems, whether preserving the essence of our own vacation homes or seeking solace in other historic havens during our travels.
Our hearts are firmly anchored in the past, and we enjoy bringing guests along with us when they stay at one of our Mystic homes.
Why they chose this property
My husband and I have always loved adorable and how it sits up on the little hill looking out at Tuft's Cove! Owning this has been a dream come true! Some may wonder why we bought another home in our hometown. I guess it's a testament to how much we love the area!
Located in West Mystic, just a 10-minute walk from downtown Mystic, where you'll find shops and plenty of outstanding restaurants, it offers the best of both worlds~ centrally close to everything but far enough away from the bustle. It's only a 3-mile drive to Mystic Seaport Museum, Mystic Aquarium, and Old Mistick Village. If you prefer to relax at home for the day, we believe you will be pretty happy just hanging out reading, cooking, or watching a movie in this cheerful home!
What makes this property unique
Step into the enchanting heart of New England hospitality, where each room holds tales anchored in the 1800s. Journey through stories of ship smiths, coopers, whispering woodcarvers, meticulous riggers, and the daring adventures of sailors and whalers.
Our Mystic vacation homes artfully bridge time, weaving historical tales into present-day experiences so you can treat yourself to some old-fashioned hospitality reminiscent of a homemade apple pie’s comforting warmth and sweetness.
When my husband and I first walked into this antique gem, we felt instantly taken by its charm and character, and we think you will, too!
Time away is a rare gem, and our mission is to ensure your Mystic vacation is as perfect as possible. Think nostalgic charm combined with modern amenities for 21st-century comfort and a splash of pure, homegrown hospitality to make your stay the most relaxing it can be!
