Family Friendly Mystic Retreat - Close To Town

Welcome to The Capstan! Bright & airy large home, walking distance to downtown Mystic. Designed with both families and couples in mind, this 3-bed, 2-bath home has everything you need, including lots of space for fun and family relaxation. Enjoy the luxuries of having an entire home to yourself, while being minutes away from all the restaurants, shops and historical sites in the quaint, waterfront town of Mystic.

The Capstan features a sun-drenched open-concept layout, where the living room, kitchen and dining room all join to form a bright and airy great room. Open the door to walk right out onto a large deck with a grill, table for 8 and Adirondack chairs. The fully fenced in yard has lots of space for games, including corn hole. Enjoy a movie on the 75 inch HDTV after a day of exploring all Mystic has to offer!

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need. There is a large fridge, oven with 3 racks, electric range, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and dishwasher. Dishes, glassware, mugs, pots and pans, basic cooking amenities, serving dishes and utensils are all provided, as well.

Bedroom 1 is large and features a queen bed and an en suite bathroom. There is enough space for a pack 'n play, which is provided.

Bedroom 2 also has an inviting queen bed and enough space for 2 guests to stay comfortably.

Bedroom 3 features 2 twin beds that can easily be joined together as a king bed, with a connector and king sheets ready for use.

The above ground basement, with windows, features another TV and comfy couch that folds down into another queen-sized bed. This room serves as a 4th bedroom, with blackout shades and its own heat control. There is also a queen sized air mattress, should you need it.

A large washer & dryer and 2 full bathrooms with plenty of towels make long term stays at The Capstan a breeze.

The house is an easy, one mile walk to downtown Mystic and a 10 minute drive to the Mystic Aquarium and Old Mistick Village. There is a great playground just a 2 minute walk behind the house. Family-friendly Esker Point Beach is a 7 minute drive away. For larger, ocean beaches Misquamicut and Hammonasset Beach Parks are just half an hour away. If you're into casinos and great live shows, Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods are about a 20 minute drive.

Enjoy everything the Southeastern Connecticut coast has to offer, from lobster rolls and beaches to shopping and world-class cuisine, all from this comfortable home just steps from Historic Downtown Mystic.

Just had a great trip to Mystic. Property was beautiful and exactly as described. Great location- close to downtown! House was super clean and comfortable. Back deck showcased the nice deck and flat, green backyard. Host was super responsive and replied quickly to any questions we had. 10/10 would recommend!

The house is spacious, clean, sunny, and a well supplied kitchen.The hosts could not be nicer. We were holding a meditation retreat and were allowed to check in early. I would definitely stay there again. It felt like home.

Perfect for family

The house was clean and in a great neighborhood. The weather was pretty disappointing (rainy) during our stay, but the house was spacious for our family of 5 to stay in, eat dinner, and play games. It was a great family retreat. We would book this property again.

We had a great stay at this Vrbo. The home was spotless and nicely decorated. The kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfortable and the living area was cozy. The location was perfect. Nice neighborhood and close to everything we wanted to explore. Communication with the host was excellent. Friendly, prompt and helpful. They made check-in easy. Overall, this rental exceeded our expectations, and we would love to stay here again. Highly recommended!

Mystic Weekend

We planned a family weekend getaway and found this beautiful home near downtown Mystic. The owners’ communication was excellent, and the welcome manual had everything we needed to navigate the area and enjoy the home’s amenities. Our family loved the quiet neighborhood and the playground just behind the house. We’d definitely stay here again!

Relaxing stay

Our family (2 kids, parents and grandparents) wanted to stay in a central location - close to beaches and other fun things to do. We chose this family friendly Mystic retreat for those reasons. Our stay was wonderful. The hosts were super friendly, welcoming and helpful. The house was clean, comfortable, and relaxing. We explored the area, dined at several restaurants, went to the Mystic Aquarium, and relaxed on a few nearby beaches.Highly recommend this location for your next trip to Mystic, CT!

Family getaway

We really enjoyed our stay. Dani and Cori were super responsive. Check-in was easy, the house was clean with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. The house is in a family friendly neighborhood and so close to downtown, which has great food and cute shops. The house is 1/2 hour to beautiful beaches. We would definitely stay there again.

Great location, in the Mystic area that provides a quiet and clean property with plenty of amenities to make the stay a comfortable one. Good communication with the property owners allowed for an easy check-in and check-out process. Very Comfortable Home Close to Downtown Mystic

The house was clean and in a quiet neighborhood, with ample parking. It was close to Mystic and we could have walked there if the weather was better during our stay. Beds were comfortable. It was easy to check in and there was a big yard and nice deck. Kitchen had all the things you would need if you were going to cook. If I am in town again, I would stay again.

Cory was excellent on communication. The house was clean. If there was a down side it would be the detergent used for the sheets and towels. Not sure if it was Gain or something else but the perfume was very strong for sensitive noses. Also, the window air conditioner may have used by a smoker in the past. We didn't smell smoke anywhere in the house until we turned on the air conditioner for the master bedroom. The smell wasn't strong but you could smell it. We didnt use the lower level even though it was very well equipped for extra sleeping, TV abd games to play. We would definitely stay here again but may bring our own sheets/blankets because of the detergent used.

Glad you enjoyed your stay! We do have a No Smoking policy, but it’s possible a guest did so without our knowledge. It’s also possible the smell was coming in from the air outside if you didn’t smell it in the house otherwise. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention and we will definitely address them.

A good house for up to 8 people, though there are only two bathrooms. You will need a car, and with a car, the house is convenient to most things in and around Mystic. Big yard with a nice deck on the back side of the house. Bring your own iron - none was provided.
