About the host
Hosted by Brittany Maquis

This is our passion, we provide amazing places for our guests to vacation and create their own family memories. We have in bath mine and my husbands career known nothing but hospitality service from the floor up. We recently had a chance to launch our new brand and start collecting fantastic properties all around the gulf coast. Welcome to our newest addition the Sea Cow Shack!
Why they chose this property
This area of Florida is a step back in time away from the corporate monstrosities of chain and condominiums resorts. It won our hearts the first time we came and now we own a little slice of this river town paradise.
What makes this property unique
Homasassa sits nestled between two very popular and well known towns, Crystal River and Weeki Wachi. Known for the abundance of manatees in the winter Crystal River is one of the only places you can take a tour guided expedition to find them and float with them. There are also 2 great state parks with large springs in that area. Our neighbors to south in Weeki Wachi host a few historical pastimes that are still rocking like they did decades ago. Buccaneer bay and the widely advertised mermaid show where the underwater amphitheater was sat directly on top of a very large spring. There are other springs and water related activities at the park such as water slides, tubing and a glass bottom boat tour. Now best for last! Old Homasassa, so many things! Firstly the Ellie Schiller state park turned animal sanctuary is one like no other! They have a wide variety of captive animals including manatees that are being nursed back to health. Lots to explore and learn about! The historic site of the Sugar Mill ruins is next to the Old Mill tavern 1 street block from the Sea Cow Shack, it is an interesting and a good dose of Florida history. Down the road about a 10 minute walk is the river lined with great food and beverage venues, a public boat dock and more interestingly monkey island. Across the river is another amazing experience of Crump's landing. Beach like stretch with tiki bar tables, huge open air seating / bar and live entertainment weekly. Kids love the playground while the parents enjoy the tunes. Lastly what am I missing? Fishing! McRae's launch a 2 min. drive to scoot out for the Scalloping season July -September.
