The Space:

Snow‑kissed trees frame the cabin as steam curls from the private hot tub, inviting you to unwind after a crisp walk along the stream. Inside, the wood‑burning stove casts a warm glow over the living room, while the scent of pine drifts through large windows that capture the quiet rhythm of the Lost River Valley. You can hear the gentle rush of water just beyond the porch, a soothing backdrop to slow mornings and relaxed evenings.

Sleeping arrangements

The cabin sleeps up to six guests. One bedroom holds a queen bed, and the second bedroom features a twin bunk bed. A pull‑out couch in the living area adds extra sleeping space without crowding the room. A full bathroom with a bathtub and bathroom essentials serves the home.

Living space

Comfortable seating surrounds the wood‑burning stove, perfect for cozy winter nights. Central heat keeps the interior temperate, and high‑speed WiFi supports streaming, video calls, or remote work. A dedicated workspace in the common area offers a quiet spot for productivity. Large windows frame forest views, letting natural light filter in even on overcast days.

Outdoor living

Step onto the covered front porch or into the private backyard to breathe in the fresh, pine‑scented air. The private hot tub is ready for year‑round use, its warm water contrasting with the cool night air. A fire pit sits beside the stream, ideal for evening fires, s’mores, and stargazing. Free parking and a lockbox for self check‑in make arrival effortless.

Great cabin in a lovely neighborhood!

We loved our stay here! The cabin was clean and cozy and looked just like the photos. The hot tub was clean and ready to go. There is a nice yard and the road is quiet so our dog was off leash most of the week with no issues. The neighbors were so nice, multiple people stopped to talk to us when we were hanging out on the front porch. We didn’t hear back from the owner for about a week when we initially reached out (before the trip) but communication was quick and thorough every time after that. Highly recommend.

Quiet solitude

We stayed at the River access cabin for 5 nights with our 2 doggies and had such a nice time. The absence of traffic noise at night time while listening to whippoor wills was glorious. We enjoyed Bob fires, hot tubbing, lazy days at the lake in the trout pond recreational area and a hike to Cranny Crow overlook in Lost River State Park. We took some adorable #almostheaven photos on the swing at the top. The cabin is well appointed with various cookware, WiFi and a smart tv which we never used. The air conditioner works well and was a blessing as we arrived for a week of over 90* days. I had hoped to get some stellar stargazing in with my new telescope but the nights were not cooperative. We couldn’t bring our suv due to car trouble but we were able to access the property with my little Nissan Sentra. That said, something with more ground clearance and more horsepower would have been ideal for the steep gravel roads.

quick romantic getaway

a relaxing weekend getaway for my spouse and I, we really enjoyed the grill and hot tub, the Adirondack chairs by the fire were really great. The cabin itself is updated and super clean. The cabin is a bit remote, but that was the allure!

Rustic chic cabin/cottage in the woods with hot tub and fire pit

We had a great time at this cabin with our teen kids. we bbq'd, watched movies, and used the hot tub. Tony was a gracious host and communication was great. We had lots of questions and they answered all of them.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and River Birch Cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
