About this property

In-Town Bar Harbor Home Owned by Local Family -Acadia Entrance Around the Corner

Bar Harbor House is a newly built, spacious retreat perfectly positioned at the edge of downtown. Close enough to enjoy everything yet tucked away for peaceful relaxation. In just five minutes, you can be at Acadia National Park’s entrances, the Carriage Roads, or the waterfront. Eagle Lake Road is known for frequent Bald Eagle sightings, and Peregrine Falcons nest nearby, adding a touch of wild Maine magic to your stay. Right across the street sits historic Kebo Valley Golf Course, the 8th oldest golf course in the United States, where traces of its history are still beautifully preserved. With parking for two to three vehicles, you can skip the hunt for downtown spaces and meter fees. There is secure storage space available for bikes, kayaks, fishing gear, golf equipment, and more. Bar Harbor House comfortably hosts up to eight guests and is designed for families and friends to gather, unwind, and make new and lasting memories. My family has been native to the island for six generations, and we love sharing the local history, stories, and hidden gems of Acadia. Among our family’s lightkeepers were Jaurel and Nana Belle Pinkham, who tended Egg Rock Light at the entrance to Bar Harbor. If you are curious about special spots or local secrets, we are always happy to share. Our home is more than a place to stay, it is a special place for family and friends to enjoy the true Bar Harbor experience.

This is a lovely, comfortable, very clean home in a great location—just minutes from downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia. Deb thought of everything to make the home feel welcoming. It was so helpful to have the refrigerator stocked with the basics, a frozen lasagna, and snacks and coffee for our stay. Deb was caring and kind, and she and Dan were available to help if needed.

Most thorough VRBO we have used

The house was absolutely immaculate, with every detail meticulously cared for. Deb was great, a true resource of local knowledge whose suggestions for exploring the area were very helpful. Her recommendations truly elevated our trip! The location was ideal, offering easy access to the heart of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Plus, the "quiet side" was just a short, scenic drive away, offering a nice change of pace. We especially loved the convenience of being able to walk directly downtown. This spot is a five-star, well appointed, and cared for property with a very responsive owner. This was the best vacation rental we have experienced with lots of thought and care showing throughout the house and with communication.

This listing is an absolute gem! The location, the space, and most of all the amazing host Deb! Deb was so helpful and accommodating from the get go when we needed to shift travel dates. She was also a wealth of information about the island. A true local and gave us so many helpful tips and spots to see that I never would have known about. She even stocked the kitchen with snacks, breakfast food, and a frozen dinner. We travel a lot, and she was by far the best host we’ve encountered! The home was immaculate and had everything we could need. One thing that really stood out was how much room we had to unpack our clothes! We have rented many places where the dresser and closet space was so limited. I always like to unpack suitcases, and it was great to have so much space! The location of this home is perfect. So close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor’s downtown. A perfect location to hop back to downtown for a late night ice cream trip! We enjoyed our stay in Maine so much and this house and host were a huge part of that. Highly recommend!

A great stay in Bar Harbor

Deb was incredibly welcoming and the house is stocked with anything that you can possibly need. It was spacious for our group of 3 families. The location can't be beat -- close enough to walk or bike into town and near the entrance to the carriage trails. We come to Bar Harbor every year and I plan to be back to Deb's house!

We loved our time spent at Deb and Dan's Bar Harbor home. They were amazing, gracious hosts and we could not have asked for a better place to stay. It truly felt like a home away from home and the location was perfect, so close to Bar Harbor and all that Acadia has to offer. I can't wait to book our next stay with them! Great House, Great Host

This house was great for our vacation. It's close enough to downtown to do things there, but far enough away not to be affected by the crowds of tourists. Deb was always asking if we needed anything. The house has books of information about the island from a local's point of view. We loved our stay.

Our family is well known in Bar Harbor and surrounding communities on the island. We can be a great resource and here to help, if asked. Guest access to owner insights can be invaluable when making decisions about what to do, where to go and more! I love being a host because it lets me share a place I care about with people who are excited to experience it. There is something genuinely rewarding about helping guests create memories, family vacations, reunions, anniversaries, and first trips to Acadia! Welcoming travelers, offering local tips, and hearing what they loved most about their stay brings joy. It’s not just about providing a house; it is about creating a comfortable, thoughtful space where people can relax and feel at home. Hosting also keeps me connected to my community. I get to support local businesses, highlight the best of Bar Harbor, and share the pride I feel for this area. Every guest who leaves happy reminds me why I do it. Dan and I have dedicated our professional careers to the field of healthcare. Dan retired from Mount Desert Island Hospital as a social worker and clinical supervisor. He is also a professional musician and performs at local venues during the summer months. I am a proud nurse of 45 years and caring for others comes naturally. I enjoyed most of my career at The Jackson Laboratory. I later went on to develop a small consulting business, Smart Case Management Solutions, LLC. My clinical background includes acute care, home health, occupational employee health, program development, education, disability, and Workers Compensation.

Why they chose this property

Bar Harbor House sits right on the edge of downtown, making it an easy 10‑minute walk to the village for shopping, dining, and waterfront strolls. The Acadia National Park entrance to Cadillac Mountain is just around the corner. Guests can be on the Carriage Roads, trails, or headed up the summit road in minutes. Eagle Lake Road truly lives up to its name. It is not unusual to spot bald eagles or peregrine falcons soaring overhead or nesting nearby. The back field is a natural crossing for deer, turkeys, and other wildlife casually wander through. Duck Brook and Witch Hole abut the property behind the house. Just across the street is Kebo Valley Golf Course, the 8th‑oldest golf course in the United States. Set within a welcoming, multigenerational neighborhood of local families, our home offers an authentic Bar Harbor feel and a comforting sense of community.

What makes this property unique

As a native island family, we are deeply connected to this community and happy to help you discover the best experiences, often the ones that save you time, money, and stress. Having a "real person" to reach out to makes all the difference. My brother's shop, Little Village Gifts is listed in Trip Advisors Top 10 Best Things to do in Bar Harbor!
