CONDO DOES NOT MEET DESCRIPTION

I gave this condo one star because of the incredible balcony view of Orient Bay and the beautiful swimming pool. My wife and I stayed here 3 weeks in September and on the first day the water supply failed and we were without sanitary facilities for the better part of four days. I called the owner ASAP and he arranged for bottled water to be delivered after day 2. Meanwhile we were struggling with sanitation and our own bottled water. This water supply failure was not due to a pipe rupture, but scheduled as part of a water system update. The owner should have been aware of this situation and advised us and we would have delayed our arrival. The next problem was failure of the AC for 2 days. September here is incredibly hot and humid and loss of air conditioning is not as trivial as it sounds. Andrina, the owners contact person was able to get the unit repaired. The unit is described as having a clothes washer; an item without which we would not have rented the condo. We were able to do one wash after the first week and the washer died. This washer was well beyond its life expectancy and should have been replaced long ago. I even drove Andrina to an appliance store to purchase a new washer, but she did not receive funds from the owner during our stay. Seating in the condo is non existent except for the what the owner calls an Indonesian Daybed. This daybed doesn't remotely qualify as a bed or a chair. We had to resort to using beach chairs to watch TV, grab a bite or use a laptop. The kitchen can work for 2 people even with a mini fridge,were it not for the location of the toaster oven and microwave on a shelf 6ft. above the sink. I'm 6ft. tall and had to stand on my toes with a flashlight to determine if the toast was done. Ugh. Orient Beach is describe as having beautiful white sand. This may be true, but we never saw it because the bay has a chronic infestation of rotting, smelly seaweed. The Waikiki resort at the far end of the beach bulldozes their sea weed away mornings and evenings for its cruise ship customers. We understand the sea weed problem is not new. Other reviewers have described the road approaching the condo as having serious potholes. I think it more accurate to describe driving on this street like driving on a dry stream bed for 1/2 mile. Any person wishing to contact me with additional questions must get my contact information from the owner who I hereby permit to provide. I also permit VRBO to do likewise.

I lived in Mont Vernon for 3 years and know Alex. The studio had everything you could possibly need and is beautiful. Sophia and Winston were extremely helpful and helped me wth my bag and rental car. I had not been back to my home in Saint Martin for 3 years and both me and my dog, Marley were happy to be back on Orient Beach again. The island is still recovering, but everyday old and new places open up. It is my favorite place on earth and I still am treated like part of the community. You could not find a better host than Alex.

Fantastic stay

Amazing view from the studio - and well equipped with all needed - Owner and host so helpful ... Alex was so nice and so available .. really a pleasure ... countertop in the bathroom is a bit high .. for tall people i guess :(.. but other than that nothing negative to say. Paradise!

My husband and I have had the good fortune to have visited Mont Vernon, Orient Bay, Property ID 3008994 three times! Each time the experience is the same...absolutely wonderful! The view depicted in the advertisement is just how it really looks...peaceful beauty! The condo is great, clean, quiet and the only place we will return to when we are able to travel back to St. Martens. Adrina was there upon our arrival; she does a marvelous job on keeping the condo looking great! Alex emailed us details about our arrival and kept us up to date on our trip. We again rented our car from Marcus and he was right there when our flight arrived. It was great to be driven to our condo so we could appreciate the scenery and catch up on what had been happening since our last vacation to this beautiful island. The beaches continue to be stunning with choices to either partake of activities, walk along and enjoy the sand, water and beautiful views, or stop for some refreshments at the friendly beach bars and restaurants! (The food is delicious especially at Palm Beach...I felt like we were transported to France as the cuisine was excellent and the prices were more than reasonable!)The grounds of the condo are very well kept and the pool is perfect to cool off in, swim laps or just lounge around! Ah, yes, truly Paradise that I hope you will allow yourself to experience!

Overall the property was good. Short walk down the beach to the middle of orient beach - great restraints nearby. Better instructions on how to find it the first time would be helpful... But no complaints. We did have an issue with the gate opener, but was resolved in short order...

Clean, bright condo overlooking the beautiful Orient Bay

We very much enjoyed our stay at Mont Vernon. The room was clean and well equiped, encompassing a balcony with a gorgeous view, the perfect starting point to explore the beautiful island of St Martin. The pool, which is large and offers both shallow and deeper areas, is also very clean and provides a nice area to lay around and enjoy the wonderful weather. There is a small store in the complex which offers fresh baguettes and croissants (delicious) every morning and French homemade pizza together with beer on tap each evening. Alex takes care of all the little details to help make your stay truly enjoyable. We definitely recommend this condo for anyone wanting a peaceful relaxing vacation in St Martin.

A Relaxing Week

We had a very relaxing week in Saint Martin. We were very happy with the condo. Very pleased with the décor and view of the beach. Although there is no room service during the weeks stay, that is fine with us! Complete privacy. :) Also, we had booked a weeks stay there a few months before and had to cancel it just days before we were suppose to go...due to a medical emergency. Alex responded extremely quickly and refunded all of our payment to him. That was very much appreciated by us! We didn't do a lot while there so I can't say a lot about the island. Our goal was to have a relaxing week and we did! I think my only negative thing to say about anything is some of the road conditions were pretty bad with potholes, etc. But everyone was very nice. The weather was great and the location of the condo gave us a steady breeze that we loved. We have vacationed on many different Caribbean islands and consider Saint Martin one of the better ones. :)

Best terrace ever!

Alex's condo is exactly as described! The unit is spacious, clean, and the best terrace of all! We ate breakfast every day on the terrace and ended our evenings with a glass of wine listening to the waves. There is a small fridge which did accommodate enough for 2 of us. The kitchen has all supplies you need and we did cook in a couple of times. Alex took special care to provide a few staples upon arrival as well which was very nice! Andrina met us upon our arrival and was such a pleasure. She guided us to the condo (which can be a bit confusing at first), and welcomed us into the unit. Alex provides a local cell phone which we did not use, but was nice to have in case of emergency. Andrina called us the day before we left to find out what time we needed to leave and she met us at the condo and "checked"us out. We did rent a car from Marcus which was fantastic as well. The condo has it's own parking spot which was a nice stroll to the unit. You will need a rental car to get around the island and go with Marcus! He picked us up at the airport right on time and then dropped us off as well. Direct service! No waiting at the rental car lines coming out of the airport. Nice small car, great service! Someone had mentioned previously the road to the condo. WOW! It was riddled with pot holes and made for a very adventurous ride every day. You literally have to navigate from hole to hole so that your tires don't get swallowed! On day 5 on, our rear tire needed air every day. On our last day, some machinery was in digging up 1/2 side of the road which actually made it better. Each night we would walk down the beach to the Bikini bar where they had great happy hours. There are many delicious restaurants in that area and then we'd walk the beach home. The pool was fantastic as well! Exceptionally kept and a great refresher from the sun! You can't go wrong with this unit! Thanks to Alex, Andrina and Marcus for a fantastic vacation!

Great studio, wonderful vacation

The property was above our expectations. Alex has provided us with an excellent service and all necessary information about the place and it's environment. Andrina was kind and helpful and Marcus, the car rental owner - suggested by Alex was very professional. The service, from and to the airport, as well as the car rented were excellent. Paradise!

My husband and I visited this beautiful condo 2 times and are in the process of planning a return trip; staying at Alex's condo again. It was absolutely beautiful from the view of the ocean and beaches in the morning to the calm sunset in the evening. The pictures on line are quite true of what you will find. The condo was clean, quiet and all that we could hope for. The beaches are wonderful as are the friendly staff at the various beach bars/restaurants. The pool and pool deck are equally lovely as well! The pace on the French side is calming and serene, yet fun and filled with great food and drinks for those who want to partake. We are counting the days until we can return!

Great condo for a couple!

We had a great stay at Alex’s place – it was perfect for my husband and myself for a tropical getaway. The location was perfect, and having walking access to the beach was very convenient, as it was about a 10 minute walk to a bunch of beach bars/restaurants and about a 10 minute drive to many other beach areas and little villages with shops, restaurants, etc. Alex was very responsive to my many questions that I had prior to booking and arrival, and when we ran into some issues while we were there, he always answered his cell phone and did all that he could from being in another country at the time. Thank goodness he provided a local cell phone for us to use while staying in his condo, it came in handy on more than one occasion! We did run into an issue with the remote control for the parking gate dying on us mid-stay, and the “property manager” did not speak much English which made the process of getting it fixed quite frustrating for us. Again, Alex answered all of our calls when this issue arose, but there was only so much he could do from a different country to help fix the situation. Alex highly recommended using Marcus at Justice Car Rental for a rental car, and we are so glad that we did. Having a washer in the unit was an added plus, as we didn’t have to come home with a mountain of dirty laundry as well. The condo complex itself is in use of some updating, but that wouldn’t deter us from recommending this place for other visitors. We would definitely recommend this unit to a couple looking to visit SXM!

Unforgettable View; Great Place to Stay

The view of the entire length of Orient Bay -- and St. Barts on the horizon -- is absolutely breathtaking. We never tired or looking at it. The property was neat, clean and very tastefully furnished. It was also thoughtfully stocked with all of those little things that you usually have to bring or buy for yourself.-- from paper towels, dish washing soap and bottled water to a free cell phone for local calls. All of the appliances worked. Owner Alex was helpful -- and quick to respond to every one of our myriad questions about getting there, renting a car, and other issues. The location,only minutes from the incomparable French restaurants of Grand Case, was ideal. For a quiet getaway, this place is hard to beat. The pool is spotless and impeccably maintained. Only two issues of concern -- none of them under the control of the property owner. The Residence Mont Vernon, where this is located, perhaps from rental units to condo-like ownership. In mid-January, quie a number of the units were being remodled, which pretty much guaranteed day-long construction noise. And the "front desk," which appears to have once served a mid-sized hotel is dusty and abandoned. No biggie, but it tends to tarnish one's impression of what is otherwise a perfect place to escape. Also, the street from the highway to property -- about three-quarters of a mile -- is in truly terrible shape with lots and lots of potholes, crumbing asphalt and broken down speed bumps. The destination makes the drive worth the hassle, but ii will rattle your fillings. Still, it's a five star stay.

Orient Bay Stay

We were pleased with the unit and it certainly has one of the best views of Orient Bay and St. Barts. Andrina we there to greet us and she checked on us after Hurricane Gonzolo passed which was very thoughtful. Alex was easy to deal with and we appreciated the welcome basket of coffee, treats, beverages etc. I would come back and use the place again and do recommend it to others.

very very nice accommodations, just like the pictures. premium parking spot for our rental car. we were met by Andrina who helped us get settled in and we were met at the airport by Harry with our rental car who was suggested by Alex. overall we had a great time using our very nice little condo as home base. Grand Case and Marigot are just short drives away. Can't say enough...

Wonderful Condo on the Beach

Beautiful full ocean view of Orient Bay Beach ... we ate breakfast every morning on the balcony because it was so wonderful and comfy. This condo is nicely furnished with a very very comfy king size bed. Alex was great to work with and he hooked us up with Marcus and a rental car. Marcus actually picked us up at the airport at 11pm and drove us to the condo and our car rental was waiting for us. Adrinea was also waiting our arrival at the condo, showed us around and to our parking place. This condo comes with its own spot which is good and nearer than most parking spots. There is a French market about 5 min. drive away and you can get just about anything you need. A little further and you are in Grand Case and amazing Lolo's ... ( outdoor grills that serve $5.00 racks of ribs and $9.00 fresh from the ocean red snapper grilled whole ) amazing ocean view and food ... but there are plenty of bars and restaurants in walking distance to the condo, so you do not really need a car. The neighbors were super friendly and helpful and everyone pretty much speaks English, Spanish, Creole, and French ... having a cell phone in the condo that we could take with us was a blessing as I did not have a cell phone with me on the trip. Marcus picked us back up and dropped us at the airport when we left ... I would definitely stay here again .. actually we can't wait to stay here again soon !!!!

Beautiful view

This location has a beautiful view, the resort is very quiet, with easy access to the beach. The condo was adequately stocked with what we needed and reasonably clean. The manager was outstanding, replying to all questions promptly. We would stay here again. We walked to the Palm Beach Sunday beach party - it was nice not having to drive that night. We also got pizza at Villa Pizza - very good. The condo had toaster oven so we were able to enjoy our leftovers too.

Great View/Good Value

The studio condo for 2 people is decent-sized and comfortable. Very clean. The view from the balcony is beautiful and the picture shown is accurate. It was good being on the quiet end of Orient bay, as there are lots of restaurants, para-sailing rental places, etc. further down the beach. The condo development looks a little tired, however, and public area, such as the pool area, walkways, garage, etc. could benefit from some painting, updating and general maintenance. The other condo visitors seemed to be almost exclusively French and many bring small dogs. There are also lots of stray cats wandering around - so if you are allergic to/don't like animals, this is probably not a great place for you. Our neighbor had food bowls out to feed several cats. The woman who met us (Adriana?) was very pleasant and helpful. No problems there. The kitchenette area was fine for our needs and it was very nice to have a supply of coffee, filters, cookies, some soda and beer. Having a small washing machine in the bathroom area was great - but it would have been helpful to have been left some directions as to how to use it properly - the controls/icons on the front of the machine were totally unfamiliar to us! The couch area could have used better reading lights; once it got dark, it was almost impossible to read in the unit. Overall, a nice place to stay and the price was reasonable for the location/season.

Amazing View!

Having stayed previously in a ground floor unit we knew coming back we wanted a view and this studio delivered! The view is spectacular, over the entire beach and lagoon. The balcony is very private and you are not overlooked by any other unit. The property manager was there to meet us as arranged even though we were delayed due to our luggage not arriving. The studio is spacious, very clean, well equipped, the cell phone for use on the island came in handy and having WIFI was great too. The only negative we would have is only having a bar fridge. It was not accommodating enough for water, supplies etc., but it was a minor detail and didn’t take away from the rest of what the studio had to offer . Our luggage did not arrive with our flight, we were promised it would arrive on a later flight and be delivered overnight. As of 3pm the next day it still had not arrived. The owner of our studio who happened to be staying in the complex at the same time was going to the airport to pick up friends and offered to check the status with AA. Imagine how happy we were when they called to say they had our luggage and brought it back for us. It was such a relief, we are so appreciative to them for doing this. We rented a car through Justice Car Rental as recommended by Allen. Harry was there to pick us up and drop us off at the airport as arranged, he was very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend them, it was a new car and reasonable rates. Orient Beach is beautiful and Palm Beach is a great place to relax on a lounger and have lunch, the food is delicious. Our favourite beach though is Anse Marcel, just a 10 minute drive away. It is secluded, quiet and the water is not as rough as it is on Orient Beach. There is a great area at the far end of the beach where you can rent loungers and have lunch, more great food. We also did an overnight to the small island of Saba which you can see from the balcony. We would highly recommend this if you have the time, it is beautiful. All in all we would highly recommend this studio, everything went as planned and the service from the owner to the property manager was excellent and made for a great vacation.

breathtaking

stayed last week @ this beautifully furnished rental w a breathtaking ocean view! all new appliances and i loved the balcony that was perfect for having an eat-in meal or just having a glass of wine @ sunset. it was very welcoming as the mgt is very accommodating and provides coffee, tea, snacks and even a cell phone should you need to contact them for anything. and it's only a short walk to the ocean (st. martin has lovely beaches!)

Picture Perfect

A picture speaks a thousand words and the view from the balcony says it all - a beautiful view, a perfect location and a wonderful vacation. It was also made exceptionally easy by Allen, the property manager. He was wonderful. He helped us arrange for a local rental car company to pick us up at the airport and deliver us to Mont Vernon where the rental car awaited us. (The agency also took us back to the airport which made our arrival and departure a breeze!). Allen was also there to greet us and show us to the condo. The condo was very clean and comfortable. Small details like having use of a local cell phone and a few small amenities in the room in case we couldn't get to the grocery store were greatly appreciated. Allen was also very helpful with suggestions on things to do -highly recommend the catamaran trip to Prickly Pear. All in all it was a great trip and we would (and already have) recommended this to others. We are looking forward to our next trip back.

Perfect

We really couldn't of hoped for anything more from our stay at the Mont Vernon condo on Orient Bay. The unit was well kept and well decorated, there were some cold beverages in the fridge and a cell phone for local use. Alan, the manager of the unit was super nice and friendly and knowledgable... we could go on and on. Orient Bay is the perfect jumping off point to explore all of Saint Martin, make sure to visit Pinel Island which is right up the road!

Saint Martin is one of my favorite vacation spots. For the last ten years, I have spent my vacations on Saint Martin and the island still amazes me.

When I had an opportunity to purchase this fantastic condo I could not resist such an amazing view. This condo now has a new air conditioner, cooktop, a new bed, new furniture, and many new furnishings with an Indonesian flair.
